Principal leadership in developing teacher performance potential is very necessary. educator or teacher plays an important role in the success of the ongoing Education process. Therefore, efforts are needed to develop the teacher's performance potential as a human resource that enables an increase in professionalism, because the teacher is an educator who is central to the implementation of educational activities and interacts directly with students in the process of teaching and learning activities, to realize and determine student’s quality and character. A successful organization can mean that a leader is successful in it. A successful leader is judged not only by his position or power but by focusing on his character, behavior, and actions so that he is seen as an effective leader. This study aims to 1) know the pattern of behavior habituation so as to shape the character of a leader 2) form a conceptual frame of mind how behavior habituation can shape the character of an effective leader. This framework of thinking focuses more on the habitual pattern of thinking of a leader in an organization or educational institution. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and document study. The results of the study are then compiled into a mindset which is a habitual habituation instilled in the educational environment so as to shape the character of an effective leader. One of the main factors of the students’ lack of confident is the lack of communication and discussion related to the issues of teaching and learning in the classroom. This weakness can be overcome by a guidance process model based on lesson study principal and procedure, because with Lesson Study the learning scenario, implementation, and reflection can be discussed by the three groups and also the solution to activate the class can be found, so the students or practitioners are able to “study”. The method use is qualitative descriptive. This research uses a descriptive-qualitative method. The result shows that the servant leadership of principals has an effect on the increasing of teachers’ performance, as a result the quality of catholic elementary school in Bandung increases. The implementation of servant leadership’s criteria can empower teachers, create vision together at school, build self-confidence, encourage teachers’ motivation and commitment to improve the quality of school, be open toward the development of era and establish an open communication with teachers, so they are open each other. Several regulations were established to make sure that the changes and improvement of the quality can be attained. The needs of measurement to appraise the quality of teaching learning in swift and reliable approach is per-ceived. Accreditation used to be one of the approach in evaluate university’s performance, including teaching and learning process. Nevertheless, the result is not prompt and brief yet less specific on the daily process. Student evaluation also used to be held by the university, but mostly they are not reliable due to the students concern on the evaluation were not thoughtful. Indonesian Survey of Student Active Learning (ISSAL) was adopted from National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) that is common in US higher education institution in evaluating teaching learning process. ISSAL composed of very universal dimensions on teaching learning. This study seeks some evidence whether the dimensions of ISSAL can be reliably apply in Indonesia. Triangulation techniques was used to ensure the validity of the data. Independence which is one of the characteristics of education in Islamic boarding schools must be realized and embedded in every santri in order to be able to become human beings who are able to take advantage of opportunities and conquer challenges in the industrial revolution 4.0. The aspects of santri independence that must be embedded in a santri in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 include 1) emotional independence: the attitude of being in dealing with others, being tolerant and sympathizing with fellow human beings; 2) independence acts: has the capacity to make choices and make decisions and form a fortress on oneself so as not to be carried away by negative influences from outside; and 3) Independence of values: having an independent attitude and trust in spirituality, politics and morals.
