To figure out the import structure, this model uses three main variables: pair, importer, and exporter dummies. The time variable is 2000 to 2020 and considers more than 200 countries. \u0000Results : Analysis found that after the FTA went into effect, Korea increased imports from FTA partners. In particular, in the early stages of the FTA, not only the size of imports increased, but the import structure also changed; that is, exporting countries shifted from non-FTA countries to FTA partners. \u0000Conclusions : This paper notes that continuous interest in international trade policies like the FTA is necessary. because as the global economic downturn spreads, damage to the domestic economy is visible. {"title":"Strategies to build competitiveness in Korean conformity assessment through SDoC and mutual reciprocity recognition","authors":"B. Kang","doi":"10.18104/kaic.2022.37.3.227","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18104/kaic.2022.37.3.227","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose : The common international language of trade is 'Standard'. Conformity assessment activities, such as certification, inspection, testing, and approval, are closely related to the standards and build confidence in the products and services that consumers or end users purchase. For this reason, conformity assessments are essential in operating a company in the global market and play a significant role in international trade transactions of goods and services. Research design, data and methodology : This study approached the concept of conformity assessment, technology theory, and international business perspective through previous studies. Korean and international conformity assessment-related systems were analyzed. The results were derived from literature research by dividing the SDoC 1st party inspection activity and Mutual Recognition 2nd party and 3rd party inspection activities. Results : Korea's conformity assessment diffusion strategy was proposed in response to the era of international standardization competition. First, to respond quickly to the standardization competition of major powers, the Supplier Self-Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) system for cooperative suppliers should be urgently applied and expanded. In other words, the conformity assessment system should be strengthened by spreading self-reports of primary suppliers to expand Korea's conformity assessment procedure, which plays a vital role in the international trade process, and implement it on the international stage. Second, international standards, standards, and relevant regulations must be strictly and reliably observed and implemented for the spread of conformity assessments. Third, international applicability must be secured through an international mutual recognition agreement for conformity assessment activities. Finally, to establish such a system and eliminate overlapping risks, the government should establish a national organization that can serve as a government-wide control tower that can lead and efficiently manage conformity assessment activities beyond the enactment and revision stage of application standards. This is necessary. Conclusions : The core of this thesis is recognizing the importance of conformity assessment activities and proliferation, which are essential intangible assets of exporting companies. Compared to previous domestic and overseas studies, the academic and practical implications of this study are as follows. Although research on the SDoC self-conformity declaration system has been conducted, there is no case suggesting a specific spread method. In addition, it will be possible for manufacturing companies to apply the mutually beneficial recognition suggested in the study to achieve high performance in the global overseas export market. Moreover, it will be possible to realize realistic profits for exporting companies through cost reduction and shortening of the period required for export and conformity assessment procedures, and ","PeriodicalId":368687,"journal":{"name":"Korean Academy Of International Commerce","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126317140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research design, data, methodology : This study examined the regulations on additional factors in determining the customs value under the current Customs Act and confirmed the problem of reproductive rights under the current Customs Act through recent precedents. Results : As can be seen from the recent precedents of Korean courts on commercial broadcasting after duplication, the completely opposite position of the Supreme Court and the High Court in interpretation regarding the right to reproduce is insufficient for the judgment of the right to reproduce under the Customs Act in light of the current increase in digital transactions. Conclusions : In order to create a sound and sincere tax payment climate and to realize fair customs administration, this study proposes an opinion on the application of exceptions to the import declaration subject and the expansion of the provisional price declaration system with respect to the establishment of clear standards for reproduction rights and the imposition of additional factors such as royalties.","PeriodicalId":368687,"journal":{"name":"Korean Academy Of International Commerce","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129446736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research design, data, methodology : Data for this study was collected using a questionnaire administered to some 123 organizations. This paper employs T-Test to test statistically the difference between importance and satisfaction by freight forwarder group and shipper group. Results : The most important factors in the shipper's selection of a freight forwarder were cost, general service, additional service, and company characteristics for both groups in the order. In the difference test between importance and satisfaction, most factors showed statistically differences, indicating that the satisfaction of the shipper is lower than the importance. Conclusions : As a result of analysis of shipper's freight forwarder selection factors, it was found that, although cost factors including competitiveness of sea freight rates, possibility of negotiating freight rates, and global network establishment factors are the most important factors, they do not significantly reach customer satisfaction. Therefore, in order to increase the competitiveness of forwarders in selecting shippers, intensive efforts are needed to reduce freight rates.","PeriodicalId":368687,"journal":{"name":"Korean Academy Of International Commerce","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123070683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research design, data and methodology : This paper examines the WTO agreement specially Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights(TRIPS) and analyzes the relevant articles, the developing history of the United States relating IP regime and IPR protection modes. Results : When emerging economies such as China, Brazil, and India become strong and innovative countries, and these countries reflect the US IPR system as it is in creating their intellectual property systems, it may eventually lead to a dilemma. Conclusions : A lot of effort is still needed for WTO member states, except for developed countries, to meet the high-level IPR protection and implementation system that the US insists on. Therefore, it would be most exemplary if the current TRIPS improvement could escape the dilemma of focusing on strong IPR protection and implementation.","PeriodicalId":368687,"journal":{"name":"Korean Academy Of International Commerce","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123448238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research design, data and methodology : Multiple regression analysis and T-test were conducted for empirical verification. Variables of economic compensation were labor costs, retirement allowance, welfare benefits, employee growth rates, wage gaps between executives and employees, and average years of service. Profitability, stability, and growth indicators were used as the corporate performance variables. Results : The rate of increase in labor costs of logistics companies had a positive effect on their profitability and stability. In particular, the increase in welfare-related expenditure had a positive effect on sales and net profit. The increase in net income had a positive effect on the increase in the average service period of employees. Selling and administrative expenses and economic compensation variables showed positively significant results. In addition, the difference in the level of economic compensation according to the size of the company did not show a clear difference in the growth rate of retirement benefits and welfare expenses. However, large companies tended to show higher employment growth, the wage gap between executive employees, and the average service period. Conclusions : Logistics companies should improve job satisfaction and logistics services, secure a professional workforce, reduce safety accidents, increase productivity through profit sharing with employees, and ultimately improve management performance.","PeriodicalId":368687,"journal":{"name":"Korean Academy Of International Commerce","volume":"13 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120999264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
