His main\u0000task was guardianship of the collection and Palace’s\u0000preservation. On 13 January 1946, Morawiński left for\u0000Berlin’s Polish Military Mission as a specialist in restituting\u0000Polish cultural assets from Germany. Morawiński’s scope\u0000of activities covered first of all the issues of the restitution\u0000of Polish cultural assets, acquisition of Polonica from\u0000German collections, and purchase of art works. In the\u0000course of his mission he operated mainly within the British\u0000occupation zone in Germany. The Polish claims submitted\u0000by Morawiński to the British were related mainly to the\u0000Grasleben depository and the bells amassed in Hamburg.\u0000After months-long efforts, he succeeded in leaving for\u0000Hamburg in order to ascertain the presence of about\u0000a thousand bells of Polish provenance there. Furthermore,\u0000Morawiński operated within the Soviet occupation zone. In\u0000Saxony’s Nossen he discovered nine paintings which had\u0000come from Cracow. One of his greatest successes was to\u0000win the permission of the English to recover the archival\u0000resources originally from Gdansk, Elbląg, Szczecin, and\u0000Toruń. With the financing provided by the Ministry of\u0000Culture and Art he purchased, among others, the painting\u0000by Teodor Lubieniecki Family in the Park Background,\u0000a cup of Augustus II (1698), and two etchings featuring\u0000John III Sobieski. Having finished his Berlin assignment, he\u0000became head of the Polish Military Mission in the French\u0000occupation zone in Germany. They are in majority\u0000case studies, with examples from most varied institutions.\u0000Museum activism is the opposite to museum social alienation;\u0000in this respect, the first definitely draws from the\u0000many-years’ experience of New Museology and participatory\u0000museum. Museum activism advocates are negative\u0000about the commercial populism and the success measured\u0000by turnout only, and not that measured exclusively by the\u0000differentiation of the museum offer and its accessibility\u0000to minority and marginalized groups. According to the\u0000Editors, contemporary museums are more morally obliged\u0000to engage in social activism, since in the times of a radical\u0000drop of social trust worldwide, museums still constitute\u0000one of the social institutions considered as trustworthy.\u0000Many of the actions described in the book concern the\u0000sphere of museum accessibility broadly speaking, both in\u0000the sense of physical access and possibility to participate\u0000in the programme, and barriers of social nature. Another\u0000sphere of museum activism is made up of curatorial practices.\u0000The texts point to many dimensions of activist curatorial\u0000practices which, however, first of all become the\u0000space for questioning the myth about museum’s neutrality\u0000in many respects: the colonial collection genesis, attitude\u0000towards climate, narratives constructing national identity,\u0000or finally the issue of the presence of curator’s voice in an\u0000exhibition. In many of the papers the role of museums in\u0000the context of the responsibility for the climate, of raising\u0000social awareness, of constructing a new narrative on the\u0000relation between man and the world, as well as the necessity\u0000to revise one’s own praxis are reiterated.\u0000\u0000

The world-renown artists\u0000Jerzy Bereś and Maria Pinińska-Bereś who lived and created\u0000their art in this part of the city are not exposed within the\u0000public space, and most likely for this reason they have not\u0000been exposed in the Study, either. Meanwhile, without\u0000any institutional involvement, residents undertake artistic\u0000actions close to the performances of the Bereśes. The\u0000Sledge Protest conducted in the summer reminds of the\u0000Landscape Annexation and The Banner of Pinińska-Bereś;\u0000social garden establishing reminds of the Living Pink;\u0000the transfer of the Prądnik River water is reminiscent of\u0000the Praying for Rain; while neighbourly bonds echo the Kite-Letter and Letters Dispatched with Forces of Nature. Owing\u0000to these unconscious similarities the Pinińska-Bereś’s artistic output seems worthy of being included in the proposed\u0000Museum. Furthermore, three additional proposals for the\u0000Prądnik Museum are discussed in the paper: they take into\u0000consideration the oeuvre of the Bereśes, residents’ social and\u0000artistic activity, as well as the demands of New Museology\u0000(rooting in the local community and focus on education and\u0000participation). A performance museum may be a reaction to\u0000the lack of collection, allowing to benefit from the artistic\u0000output of the community and the artists presently living in\u0000Cracow, including Bettina Bereś’s reenactment. A biographical\u0000museum may provide an opportunity for storytelling and\u0000identity investigation, as well as bonding. The inspiration for\u0000the latter may be derived from the Yayoi Kusama Museum:\u0000it was her oeuvre that was used for the visual identification\u0000in her native city of Matsumoto. An ecomuseum, in turn,\u0000allows to incorporate the preserved atelier of the Bereśes, the\u0000Prądnik River, as well as the post-industrial heritage.
