The game-based learning strategy is an advanced learning strategy in which a learner is fully engaged in the learning process. This learning strategy completely replaces the traditional learning strategy. A lot of research studies have indicated the improvement in the learning process by game-based learning strategy. The purpose of the current study was to compare the students’ learning outcomes with game-based and traditional learning strategies by descriptive and statistical way. A total of 26 articles published from 2012 to 2021 were selected by following the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The literature review of previous studies indicated that game-based learning strategy proved to be a highly effective learning strategy in numerous disciplines under different learning environments. In the game-based learning strategy, the learners are highly engaged in the learning process.\u0000Keywords: Game-based learning, traditional learning strategy, effective, engagement;","PeriodicalId":360663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Sciences & Educational Studies","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123745278","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many of the migrants are with their families. This implies that there are many migrant children in South African schools. Studies on migration and migrants’ experiences in their host countries have not paid adequate attention on the schooling experiences of migrant children in their destination countries. This paper examined the early experiences of migrant learners in South Africa. It focuses on migrant learners from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zimbabwe in Durban, South Africa. The study employed qualitative research approach and narrative inquiry methodology. Data was collected using story account, open ended interview and photo voice. The findings reveal that among the challenges and limitations migrant learners encounter on their arrival in South Africa are issues such as difficulty in accessing education as a result of immigration documentation, language barrier and cultural alienation in school.","PeriodicalId":360663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Sciences & Educational Studies","volume":"990 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123094935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The five-factor personality model describes a common understanding of personality formation in the five major profiles, commonly referred to as Extroversion, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, Agreeableness, and Openness to Experience. This research explored the effect of Big five personality profiles on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour to determine whether a personality can be a predictor of the existence of Organizational Citizenship Behaviour particularly toward university personnel. Baseline data for this research was collected from public and private universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro. A total of 560 surveys were collected from 26 private and public universities. Findings show that Extraversion has an impact on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour. On the other side, Neuroticism has a negative impact on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour, while Openness to experience has no impact on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour.","PeriodicalId":360663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Sciences & Educational Studies","volume":"195 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121125071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are many different forms of anxiety; it also has a form for the mathematics lesson. Mathematics anxiety continues to increase in students starting from primary school ages. An important reason for this is that mathematics topics are constantly getting more complex and follow a logical order. In other words, it is tough to understand the next issue without understanding the previous case. This study was conducted to determine the extent to which students suffer from math anxiety. For this purpose, a Likert scale questionnaire was applied to the students. Obtained results were evaluated with descriptive statistics. Participants were 129 employees of both genders, in public organizations in Portugal, who fulfilled three self-report questionnaires: Instrument of Measure of Organizational Citizenship Behaviors, Scale Multi-Factorial Motivation at Work and Revised NEO Personality Inventory. The second-order hierarchical latent variable model using partial least squares structural equation modelling was employed to test the relationship among the variables. Results show that only four dimensions of personality (extroversion, agreeableness, openness to experience, conscientiousness) and three dimensions of work motivation (work structure motivation, commitment motivation and, goal-setting motivation) have a significant effect on the organizational citizenship behaviour. The importance of psychological assessment in an organizational context is discussed.","PeriodicalId":360663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Sciences & Educational Studies","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125192122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

He pointed out that the state should introduce licensing for all professions in which (1) people can harm those they serve, (2) can perform risky tasks safely only if they are competent, and (3) that the benefits of the licensing program are higher than the potential costs. This paper draws answers to challenges posed by parental licensing in a comprehensive pedagogical education of parents whose purpose is to develop good parenting to maximise the child's welfare. Raising a child from a position where the transition to parenthood was preceded by continuous intensive pedagogical parent education aims to understand parenting as a personal maturation and growth. So, this article presents the current condition of Croatian parenting programmes.","PeriodicalId":360663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Sciences & Educational Studies","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123734441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yeboah, Peter JO Aloka, Erasmos Charamba","doi":"10.23918/ijsses.v10i3p109","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.23918/ijsses.v10i3p109","url":null,"abstract":": Inclusion in education entails affording all learners access and equal opportunities to education and learning. Several countries, South Africa included, have developed policies on inclusive education. At the centre of the policies are teachers who happen to be the primary implementers of the same policies. Successful implementation of the policies calls for teachers to possess functional knowledge of the policies, be equipped with effective instructional pedagogies, be given all the support they need, and be motivated enough. The objective of this article is to analyse the perception of mainstream teachers towards inclusive education and establish teachers’ personal barriers hindering the successful implementation of inclusive education. This qualitative study purposively sampled twelve (12) teacher participants from one mainstream school in the Northern Cape Province, among whom two (2) were members of the school-based learner support team. Data was collected through interviews and analysed using thematic analysis. The findings from the interview responses highlight low teacher buoyancy, low teacher self-efficacy, teacher negative attitudes, and a lack of training on inclusive education as major teachers' personal barriers to the implementation of inclusive education policy. The study thus recommends that departments of education should consider retooling teachers on the policies of inclusive education. This work has the value of providing an insight into teachers’ personal barriers which hinder implementation of inclusive education.","PeriodicalId":360663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Sciences & Educational Studies","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125536187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Cross-sectional survey research design was adopted. The participants comprised of 213 freshmen. The Adjustment Questionnaire was used to measure the adjustment levels of the freshmen. The reliability of Adjustment Questionnaire was ascertained by internal consistency method. The independent-samples t-test was used to test the research hypotheses. The results reported no gender effect on academic adjustment among freshmen [ t (211) = -1.639, p =.103]; no gender effect on emotional adjustment [ t (211) = 0.268, p =.789]. There was a significant difference in emotional adjustment scores [ t (211) = -3.526, p =.001] and on social adjustment scores [ t (211) = -3.914, p < 0.05] between the two gender. The study recommends that the university counseling center should develop more gender specific orientation programmes to assist the female freshmen.","PeriodicalId":360663,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Social Sciences & Educational Studies","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129852690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
