The research method is qualitative using case study approach with purposeful sampling. The implementation strategy of data collection through validity test, followed by triangulation of data in the form of interview, documentation study and observation. Data analysis used is data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results of this study illustrate that: 1) the issue of education policy in the school principal procurement sometimes raises the dualism of interests normatively and politically; 2) the implementation of school principal procurement policy through PPCKS shown that it seems the committee from Educational Office element only role in the recruitment only, beyond that all controlled by LPPKS and Educational Office only did the monitoring; 3) most principals do not have PPCKS follow-up programs. Each principal should have a program and strategy in preparing candidates for the principal to be able to produce an effective principal.","PeriodicalId":358741,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management Excellence","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126693052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data were taken from the financial statements of thrift banks in the Central Bank of the Philippines from 2013 to 2016. In deriving cost efficiency, the inputs used were total liability, net of real and other property acquired and net of bank premises, furniture and fixture, and equipment, while outputs were represented in terms of total loan portfolio (TLP) and other financial assets. With the input and output variables employed, evident in the outcomes of data envelopment analysis that variable return-to-scale (VRS) assumption resulted to greater number of cost efficient banks as compared under constant return-to-scale (CRS) assumption. Although findings had revealed that most thrift banks cost efficiency percentages lie below 50 percent, there were still identified thrift banks that has been cost efficient in terms of inputs and outputs used in the study. Hence, majority of the thrift banks in the Philippines were not cost-efficient with respect to the inputs and outputs. Additionally, the number of thrift banks found to be cost-efficient are significantly low in both CRS and VRS assumptions, although VRS reflected greater number than CRS assumption. Implications were discussed in this paper based on the findings gleaned from the econometric analysis.","PeriodicalId":358741,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management Excellence","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129826355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research objective is to obtain an overview and analyze the entrepreneurial orientation of retirees who have the ability to learn independently. The explanatory survey method on the entrepreneurship training participants in the preretirement program at an educational and training institution is at PT Meta Bright Vision (MBV) in Bekasi. Questionnaires were distributed to 155 respondents. Path analysis was used to analyze the data. The research then revealed that respondents who successfully applied Self Directed Learning had the ability to create value as basic skills to face a productive period of retirement. The ability to identify the knowledge, skills and processes needed for meaningful learning about entrepreneurship leads to an understanding of value creation. Independent learning to understand the learning process determines how entrepreneurial behavior in the retirement age group. More so, creating competitive niche in the current market environment is now difficult for manufacturers than ever in meeting competitiveness. Consequently, many manufacturing firms are becoming flexible to catch up with the current challenges so as to simultaneously improve quality and productivity. This paper examined the relationship between lean manufacturing and efficiency of 53 manufacturing firms listed with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria in Rivers State, Nigeria. The questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents and analysed using, mean scores, standard deviations and t-statistic in testing stated hypothesis. It was observed that lean manufacturing has a very strong positive and significant influence on efficiency of manufacturing firms. We recommend that: management of manufacturing firms should set up clear policies on lean implementation and communicate same to staff. Also, managers of manufacturing firms are encouraged to increase its resource commitment to staff training and development so as to inculcate in them skills and knowledge necessary to implement lean practices in within their organisations; therefore, professionalism should be encouraged at all levels of the organization. Again, manufacturing firms should pursue quality consciousness through capability surveillance, in having constant monitoring of suppliers/throughput process to ensure production outputs conforms to product specification and quality standards, should be constantly advocated.","PeriodicalId":358741,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management Excellence","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128820215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
