Video-recorded parent-child interactions allow for the sequential observation, analysis, and selection of clips, which are then viewed with the parent. The therapeutic work draws on existing resources to develop dyadic regulation and parental sensitivity, and to promote interactive behaviors appropriate to the child's needs. IGT draws on several theoretical models, particularly those from developmental psychology, systemic theories, and interactionist models. The framework and video support provide access to modifying dysfunctional interactive patterns linked to the child's symptoms, particularly in the case of a parent suffering from complex trauma. Using a clinical case study, it demonstrates how the child's everyday behaviors can reactivate the mother's traumatic experiences and influence mother-child interactions at an early stage. Interactive guidance appears to be a relevant approach for making these dynamics visible in the here and now, supporting parental emotional regulation, and fostering maternal sensitivity. Although exposure to potentially traumatic events is common, only a minority of individuals develop PTSD, highlighting the role of attachment history, biological constitution, and specific details regarding the nature of the exposure and its consequences. This article integrates psychological, psychiatric, and developmental models of trauma, with a particular focus on complex PTSD, early-life stress, and intergenerational transmission within the parent-child relationship. Epidemiological, clinical, and neurobiological findings are discussed, along with their diagnostic and therapeutic implications. While STSC is widely offered in neonatal intensive care units, it appears to be less common in general neonatal care. Its benefits have also proven applicable in health education settings for young patients. Viewed as an enjoyable experience, play offers numerous benefits to participants by empowering them to take an active role in their training and by facilitating their learning. This is why gamified learning is being incorporated into therapeutic education programs, where the goal is to enable participants to acquire self-care and coping skills to improve their quality of life despite their chronic condition.
