The sample consisted of 284 foodservice employees in the Brazilian industry. The results showed that the Brazilian context is different from previous contexts studied with twice as many people below 30 years old, unskilled labor, and a much higher turnover rate. Data also suggests that there are several different relationships between emotional intelligence and stress coping style, particularly when considering the moderating role of job characteristics in this relationship.","PeriodicalId":35371,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism","volume":"22 1","pages":"212 - 238"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48089086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using structural equation modeling (SEM), it was observed that PsyCap partially mediated the relationship between organizational justice and work engagement, and that work engagement partially mediated the association between psychosocial safety climate and organizational justice, and affective commitment. The theoretical and practical implications of these results are discussed.","PeriodicalId":35371,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism","volume":"22 1","pages":"320 - 345"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44157777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Drawing upon signaling theory, a fictional job advertisement was created. A total of 210 job seekers were randomly assigned to different treatment versions. Higher perceptions of organizational attractiveness and increased intentions to apply were observed for versions including leisure benefits, confirming their role as a signaling device in the applicant attraction stage. The findings encourage human resource managers to exploit leisure benefits better to attract the brightest talent.","PeriodicalId":35371,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism","volume":"22 1","pages":"266 - 295"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43491671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents findings from a qualitative study of knowledge seeking by hotel employees in Dubai, UAE. Distinctive characteristics of hotel workforces in Dubai are identified. Employees emphasized proactive knowledge seeking, rather than knowledge sharing. These findings highlight the importance of providing organizational support for pull learning approaches to employees’ knowledge acquisition, through technology-enabled microlearning practices. In this way, organizations are likely to benefit from greater employee satisfaction, retention, competence and productivity.","PeriodicalId":35371,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism","volume":"22 1","pages":"167 - 190"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43148028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Standardized questionnaires were used to collect data from 498 frontline hotel employees. Correlation test, hierarchical multiple regression and Sobel’s test were used for data analyses. Six hundred and thirty-five employees were selected using convenience sampling technique. The Partial least square-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyzed data. Results of the study reveal that transformational leadership positively predicts both job involvement and customer OCB. Job involvement also positively predicts customer OCB. Finally, job involvement positively mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and OCB-C. Management of budget family hotels should continually monitor and enhance TL behaviors of managers to reinforce appropriate behaviors among their employees.","PeriodicalId":35371,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism","volume":"22 1","pages":"120 - 142"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41441115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research investigates the impact of bullying (psychological harassment, threat to professional status and social isolation) on counterproductive work behavior (CWB). Participants were 309 kitchen employees recruited from 12 luxury hotels located in Seoul, South Korea. The study found that all three forms of bullying affect CWB toward the organization (CWB-O) as well as people (CWB-P). Furthermore, CWB-O and CWB-P are associated with turnover intentions. Implications for practices in human resources and hospitality management are discussed.","PeriodicalId":35371,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resources in Hospitality and Tourism","volume":"22 1","pages":"71 - 96"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46459157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
