They are transmissible after inoculation, have long incubation periods, and have been known as the spongiform encephalopathies, slow virus diseases, or transmissible dementias. The human diseases include Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), Gerstmann-Straussler- Scheinker disease (GSS), and kuru. All are associated with the deposition in the brain of an abnormal, partially protease resistant, isoform of a host encoded protein, the prion protein (PrP). The study examines the contributions of OIR to Open Distance and Lifelong Learning in relation to three purposively selected dual-mode institutions in South-West Nigeria. A sample of 425 open distance learners was purposively selected from three (3) dual-mode institutions and three (3) study centres from the only single-mode university in Nigeria. The finding shows that OIR contributed significantly to both Open Distance and Lifelong learning. The finding highlights the increased desire for continued learning and the suitability of the OIR in enhancing learning and ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education. Given postsecondary education’s increased focus on resources beyond the classroom, a logical line of exploration is the link between academic library usage and library aptitudes and attitudes. This study examined library behaviors/perceptions of a community college’s distance learners. Results were analyzed using well Pearson’s r, independent sample t-tests, and ANOVA using composite factors of inexperience, apathy, and anxiety. It is a case study that employed a survey method to solicit the views of distance learning students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Findings revealed a fairly satisfactory use of the library services albeit a low patronage of the services; an indication that the existing service model is not suitable for distance learners since it lacks support services targeted at this category of users.
