Consequently, brands are in need of a new dimension of experience that focuses on understanding user needs and issues while building brand loyalty and trust. This study proposes a user-centered brand design model consisting of three phases: user needs discovery, issue definition, and scenario development. Employing the MEOWMO brand and the E-MOW value system as a case study, the model combines quantitative and qualitative research methods, including surveys and user experience scenarios, to help brands precisely define user needs and convey brand value. The research identifies a trend where users tend to trust brands that align with their psychological cognition and concepts. Therefore, constructing user experience scenarios aids in recognizing user expectations, goals, and issues, encouraging user participation in co-creation and ultimately enhancing brand loyalty. This model provides brands with a new direction to bolster their impact and user loyalty in the pet supplies industry. It also offers theoretical support for user-centered brand design, aiding brands in survival and value enhancement in a fiercely competitive market.","PeriodicalId":35082,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Design Research","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the concepts of numbers are quantitative, but there are also many unpredictable sequences such as π, e, and prime numbers. Since the work of visualizing such an irregular sequence also includes unpredictable expectations, a completely new pattern form can be experienced through the visualization of irregular data. This study presented a prime pattern that visually expresses the progress of a prime number by minimizing unnecessary data in expressing a prime sequence. The prime pattern has the advantage of intuitively knowing the characteristics of prime numbers that do not have more than two consecutive prime numbers ending in the same number. And it provides patterns that can be applied to various design fields through overlapping or transformation.","PeriodicalId":35082,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Design Research","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularly, the time spent using smart devices before bedtime constitutes a significant portion of overall smart device usage. Excessive use of smart devices before bedtime has negative effects on physical, mental, and social aspects. Therefore, in this study, we propose methods for bringing a behavior change based on behavioral theory, going beyond technology-based physical interventions, with the aim of reducing the usage time of smart devices before sleep. To achieve this, we designed two types of design-led interventions based on the feedback and feedforward concepts of behavioral theory and conducted a three-week long experiment. These proposed interventions were provided to the participants in each experimental group at a specific time (before going to bed). Based on the differences between the two groups, the study discussed the effectiveness of design-led interventions for instigating sustainable behavior change. This study holds significance as it offers practical guidance essential for the development of models and applications that may effectively utilise this particular design strategy.","PeriodicalId":35082,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Design Research","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136276744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a method of the study, the teamLab's works were first analyzed focusing on the characteristics derived from the consideration of immersion theory to interpret the relationship between the expressive elements of the media art space and the immersive characteristics according to spatial expression. As a result of the analysis, teamLab's works create new artistic experiences through the fusion of natural elements and media art, and various natural elements are organically harmonized within the work and induce various visual experiences through imaginary images to the audience. In addition, the spatial and spatial changes and distortion of boundaries of the work obscure the boundaries between the audience's reality and the work, causing new sensory experiences and participation. Through the study, the relationship between the characteristics of space and the expression elements that occur in the stage of immersion in teamLab's media art space was identified, and the possibility of multiple directions and organic expressions on the boundaries of perception expressed by virtual images that induce visual interaction. Research findings indicate that the immersive characteristics of media art prioritize the dissolution of boundaries and the formation of active communication within artworks. The fusion of nature and media art stimulates audience interest and provides fluid meaning, thereby creating immersive experiences.","PeriodicalId":35082,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Design Research","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136276745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a situation where Korea's bildungsroman is also changing and developing, we found that research on cover design for this was very insufficient, and attempted to study the characteristic semantic system of the cover design of Korean bildungsroman by era. The research method targets the cover designs of 166 coming-of-age novels published from the 1970s to 2023. First, the meaning of keywords and titles by era of the content of the coming-of-age novels is analyzed, and second, the meaning of the cover design of the coming-of-age novels is visualized. Analyze it by dividing it into images, colors, and typography, and check the flow and patterns of change by era. Third, we analyzed the relationship between keywords and visual elements by era in the content of coming-of-age novels. Looking at the analysis results, firstly, the composition of the parts of speech in the title by era appeared to be diversifying and becoming more complex, from 1 type of ‘noun’ structure in the 1970s to 17 types of parts of speech in the 2020s. Second, in terms of images, the oil painting technique of illustrations was used the most, and as the 2000s progressed, the frequency of using the entire cover as an image increased, and the use of stripes also gradually expanded. In terms of color, in the 1970s the hue distribution was medium brightness and low saturation, in the 1990s it was a hue distribution of wide brightness and saturation with warm colors and neutral colors, and in the 2020s the hue distribution was again centered on neutral colors and cool colors with medium brightness and low saturation. appear. In terms of typography, horizontal writing, center alignment, single line, serif, asymmetrical layout, and color changes were used to emphasize headings. Third, the concreteness and abstractness of titles and images were analyzed. In the 1970s, abstract expressions were very high, and concrete expressions were used more in the 2000s. In terms of visualization of the title, the average matching rate was 63%, and it was analyzed that the specificity of the title affects image visualization. In general, keyword visualization was relatively high in the 1970s, but the matching rate gradually decreased thereafter.","PeriodicalId":35082,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Design Research","volume":"28 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136277346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
