Analysing the reliability parameters of heavy firefighting and rescue vehicles over time requires knowledge of their failures. In this article, failure data from the six years of maintenance of ten heavy firefighting and rescue vehicles from ten were analysed in relation to two main subsystems. Reliability analysis was performed and the best-fit distribution was found, with the parameters calculated. For both subsystems, the chassis combined with the cabin and the superstructure, the 2P-Weibull distribution was identified as the most suitable fit. The availability and maintenance indicators for each vehicle and the individual subsystems were calculated. It was clearly defined that there exists a significant difference between the two subsystems analysed in terms of failure characteristics, as well as maintainability and availability parameters.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"35 138","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138998959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These systems function under varied environmental conditions and are exposed to external or internal natural and artificial interference; lightning, in particular. The authors conducted actual experimental tests of two surge arresters that are used to protect against a lightning impulse. As a result of conducted tests, followed by reliability and operational modelling, it was concluded that their use in internal connection structures increased the probability of a system staying in a state of full fitness. All of the deliberations included in the article enabled developing a new method for assessing the power supply continuity in electronic security systems of intelligent buildings, taking into account external natural interference. This method can also be applied to assess the power supply continuity in other electronic systems and devices.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"10 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138585359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As UAVs evolve, fault diagnosis witnessed great advancements, with signal processing methodologies taking center stage. This paper presents an assessment of vibration-based signal processing techniques, focusing on Kalman filtering (KF) and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) multiresolution analysis. Experimental evaluation of healthy and faulty states in a quadcopter, using an accelerometer, are presented. The determination of the 1024 Hz sampling frequency is facilitated through finite element analysis of 20 mode shapes. KF exhibits commendable performance, successfully segregating faulty and healthy peaks within an acceptable range. While the six-level multi-decomposition unveils good explanations for fluctuations eluding KF. Ultimately, both KF and DWT showcase high-performance capabilities in fault diagnosis. However, DWT shows superior assessment precision, uncovering intricate details and facilitating a holistic understanding of fault-related characteristics.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"19 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138589530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The test results of a passenger car with a compression-ignition engine have been analysed. The tests were carried out on a chassis dynamometer. The tests were performed for engine cold start and ran up to the point of reaching stabilized operating conditions. The average specific distance emissions and volumetric fuel consumption were assessed for individual test phases as well as for the entire test. It was found that the results in the first test phase, which corresponded to the engine cold start up to stabilized operating conditions, had the most significant impact on the overall exhaust emission and fuel consumption results in the test. The specific distance emissions of carbon monoxide, non-methane hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides were by far the highest in the first phase of the test. In the fourth phase of the test, the specific distance emissions of methane and carbon dioxide turned out to be the highest, as well as the operational volumetric fuel consumption being the highest.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":" 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138615438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With this in mind, we developed numerical models of the analyzed bearing units, for which we performed FEM simulations of the stresses in welded joints in several basic load cases. In each of the respective variants the technical condition of the bearing nodes was different and it corresponded to the severity of the degradation processes. Different positions of the superstructure in relation to the undercarriage were also taken into account. The simulations used the hot-spot method dedicated to FEM analyses of complex welded structures. We discovered that the loads have a significant influence on the values and distribution of von Mises principal stresses and their axial components. Based on the carried out analyses, we identified the most unfavorable load cases that generate the highest stresses in the welded joints of the assessed nodes. We also demonstrated that the applied method effectively assesses the stresses of welded joints subjected to variable working loads.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139212417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the current exploration of the RB approach for large-scale nonlinear systems is still limited. Therefore, this paper proposes a reliable and effective fault diagnosis method based on a reconstruction-based stacked sparse autoencoder (RBSSAE) for high-dimensional industrial systems. In RBSSAE, a reconstruction-based index achieved by the Steffensen iterative method is developed to check whether the given variable(s) are responsible for the faults efficiently. However, the number of possible faulty variable combinations grows exponentially with the system dimension or actual abnormal variables, causing an unbearable computational burden. Hence, the proposed RBSSAE utilizes a sequential floating forward selection approach to rapidly isolate the most decisive variable combination, meeting a requirement of online fault diagnosis. Finally, the effectiveness of the RBSSAE is verified on a numerical example and a real industrial case.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"75 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139236330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, similarity-based prediction methods have gained significant attention and practical use. However, these methods rely on sufficient and diverse run-to-failure data. To address this limitation, this paper proposes a data augmentation-based SBP method for accurate RUL prediction of lithium-ion batteries. By employing the single exponential model and Sobol sampling, realistic degradation trajectories can be generated, even with only one complete run-to-failure degradation dataset. The similarity between the generated prediction reference trajectories and real degradation trajectories is evaluated using the Pearson distance, and RUL point estimation is performed through weighted averaging. Furthermore, the uncertainty of the RUL predictions is quantified using kernel density estimation. The effectiveness of the proposed RUL prediction method is validated using the NASA lithium-ion battery dataset.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"53 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139239515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Predictive maintenance and production decisions integrated scheduling aim to rationalise maintenance activities. It has been extensively researched. However, past studies have assumed that faults obey a specific probability distribution based on historical data. It is difficult to analyse equipment that is brand new into service or has poor historical failure data. Thus, in this paper, we construct a twin model of a device based on a physical modelling approach and tune it to ensure high fidelity of the model. Degradation curves were created based on equipment characteristics and developed maintenance activities.Develop an integrated scheduling model for predictive maintenance and production decisions with the goal of minimising maximum processing time. An improved genetic algorithm is used to solve the problem optimally. Finally, apply a practical scenario to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"1 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139259855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, infrared thermography (IRT) is introduced into diesel engine condition monitoring, then infrared images of diesel engines in four health states, such as normal condition, single-cylinder misfire, multi-cylinder misfire and air filter blockage, are collected and the region of interest (ROI) of infrared images are extracted. Next, conditional generative adversarial network (CGAN) is deployed to perform data augmentation on infrared image datasets. Then, deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) and Softmax regression (SR) classifier are used for automatically extracting infrared image fault features and pattern recognition, respectively. Finally, a comparison with three deep learning (DL) models is performed. The validation results show that the data augmentation method proposed in the paper can significantly improve the early fault diagnosis accuracy, and DCNN has the best fault diagnosis effect and resistance to temperature fluctuation interference among the four DL models.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139266823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the dynamic analysis theory, the deployment dynamic model of folding wing mechanism with joint clearances is established and solved. Considering the failure correlation, the system reliability models are developed for both cases, without considering synchronization and considering synchronization. For the former, a solution method combining saddle point approximation and numerical integration is proposed. For the latter, an estimation method based on a combination of the fourth order moment Pearson distribution family and the numerical integration is proposed. The efficiency and accuracy of the proposed methods are verified through examples. In addition, the trend of the system reliability change when the distribution parameters of random variables are different is also analyzed.
