The research discusses results obtained from original experimental setups that fill a gap in the area of investigation of the mechanical response of sandwich panels used in civil engineering applications under accidental design situations such as blast wave impact and/or fragment penetration. In field experiments, a high-speed camera was used to record both the fragment trajectory and the deflection of the sandwich panel. The authors proposed the equivalent static load for both the global analysis of the sandwich panel and the calibration of the numerical model. In FE modelling, CONWEP algorithm was used to simulate blast wave impact, and ductile damage model material to allow perforation of the sandwich panel faces. The convergence of mesh size was analyzed. For the validated numerical model, an evaluation of the effect of the size of the fragment (diameter/mass) on the outlet velocity and the size of the inlet and outlet holes was carried out.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"46 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139844996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its operation in the tire determines the maintenance of the geometrical stability of the pneumatic wheel in conditions of variable operational loads. The belt creates a spatial composite structure in which the structural component is usually made of braided steel strands. The even arrangement of the fibers in the belt determines its mechanical properties. Under normal conditions, the belting is invisible in used tires and its technical condition is difficult to assess. The arrangement of the belt wires in the tire can be seen using X-ray imaging, which was used in this work. In the conducted research, various configurations of the lamp settings and the detector of the measurement system were tested. On the basis of the tests performed, it is possible to assess irregularities in the belting resulting from manufacturing errors. However, a more important application of the obtained results is the possibility of assessing operating wear. Delamination in the belt detected during the tests reduce the safety of using such tires.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"138 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140484997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current work investigates the behavior of a laminated Macro Fiber Composite (MFC) piezoelectric transducer when exposed to negative temperatures. The study aims to understand the sensitivity of the transducer under varying ambient temperatures and frequencies, particularly for applications in wireless sensor networks. The integrated Macro Fiber Composite piezoelectric transducer is both theoretically modeled and empirically verified. Experimental tests involve subjecting the laminated MFC piezoelectric transducer to sinusoidal forces generated by an electro-pulse waveform generator, while a thermal chamber is used for temperature control. Controlled displacement is applied to the transducer at low-frequency (5 to 25 Hz) ranges and different moderate temperatures (0 to -40 degrees Celsius). The results highlight the significant influence of temperature and excitation frequency on the generated voltage by the MFC transducer.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"25 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140482520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transmission process generates oil churning losses, which significantly impact the overall transmission efficiency. Due to the complexity of DGTs and the unpredictability of lubrication reliability, traditional analysis of churning characteristics is inadequate. In this study, the moving particle semi-implicit (MPS) method is employed to analyze the effects of steady-state rotation speeds, dynamic rotation speeds, and oil filling heights on the oil churning characteristics of DGTs. The accuracy of the MPS method in predicting churning loss is illustrated by the average absolute percentage error of 6.4% obtained experimentally. It is concluded that: increasing the oil filling height improves lubrication reliability by 20.9%, but results in greater power loss. The lubrication reliability and power loss of DGTs with different output forms are mutually advantageous under different influencing factors. This paper helps to improve the lubrication reliability of DGTs.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"53 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140492146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research consisted in establishing the static characteristics of the highly flexible clutch in question, determining the torsional vibrations of the said highly flexible clutch and the vibrations of the transmission housings at a test rig, verifying if the coupling between the innovative flexible clutch and a typical scraper conveyor drive unit was correct, and testing durability of individual components of the highly flexible clutch. Following the aforementioned tests, one can distinguish three phases of its operation: initial, main, and final – all differing in terms of flexibility. Furthermore, upon increasing the flexibility of the metal clutch, a significant decline in the root mean square (RMS) values of linear vibration accelerations was observed compared to the blocked condition of the clutch.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"139 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140504945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, aerosol jet printing was applied to fabricate traces from commercial silver nanoparticle ink. A self-built three dimensional printing machine was used without or with in-line substrate heating. Subsequently, sintering was conducted by furnace or near-infrared source. Examination of the sample using scanning electron and atomic force microscopy revealed the existence of both micro- and nanoscale pores in the structure. Local open porosity, aerosol extensive spatter and wide porous overspray were key defects found in samples printed without substrate heating. All the features affect the properties and reliability of silver prints. In-line process heating increased the concentration of nanoparticles and limited defects formation. The final structure was influenced by sintering method and its time. Elongated time of sintering decreased porosity and roughness of the printed traces. Nevertheless, IR sintering provided the smoothest sample surface, and significantly improved bonding of aggregates.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":" 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139617086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Next, the characteristics of the resistance moments in the joints of the KPSIT C50 dummy are compared with the characteristics of the drag torque of the HYBRID III C50 dummy. The patented and manufactured knee and shoulder joints of the KPSIT C50 dummy characterized by a simple structure. The article presents a comparison of the resistance moments in the knee and shoulder joints of the KPSIT C50 dummy before crash tests and after a series of 200 crash tests. It has been shown that the patented solutions that have been used for low-speed crash tests do not need to be calibrated after a series of 5 crash tests, as is the case with the Hybrid III dummy. In the context of modular design, involving users in concept assessment boosts a product's appeal but also introduces decision uncertainty and unreliability. As a solution, this paper proposed a hybrid method by integrating expert consensus modeling, attribute weighting, Z-number, and the Multi-Attribute Border Approximation Area Comparison (MABAC) method. Initially, a consensus model is established using consistency theory to determine expert weights, and attribute priorities are determined through the entropy weighting method. Subsequently, the Z-number-based MABAC method ranks the alternatives, determining the optimal solution among them. Using an automated outdoor cleaning vehicle as an example, the proposed method is compared to other techniques. The sensitivity analysis and the comparisons show that the proposed method improves the reliability and objective of the decision-making process.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"70 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139535483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Artificial intelligence based data-driven techniques for tool condition determination are proposed. Unfortunately, the data-driven techniques are data-hungry. This paper proposes a methodology for classification based on unsupervised learning using limited unlabeled training data. The work presents a multi-class classification problem for the tool condition monitoring. The principal component analysis (PCA) is employed for dimensionality reduction and the principal components (PCs) are used as input for classification using k-means clustering. New collected data is then projected on the PC space, and classified using the clusters from the training. The methodology has been applied for classification of tool faults in 6 classes. The use of limited input parameters from the user makes the method ideal for monitoring a large number of machines with minimal intervention. Furthermore, due to the small amount of data needed for the training, the method has the potential to be transferable.","PeriodicalId":335030,"journal":{"name":"Eksploatacja i Niezawodność – Maintenance and Reliability","volume":"62 51","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139449054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
