However, a discussion on the existence of the pandemic from the perspective of Islamic theology has not been adequately addressed. This article aims to discuss how Islamic theological discourse interprets the COVID-19 pandemic and the influence of theological beliefs in responding to the pandemic mitigation efforts. This study uses a descriptive analytical method to examine the phenomenon within the framework of Islamic theology. The study shows that Islam theologically views disasters from two perspectives; first, as an absolute decree of God believed to have wisdom and education for human beings, and secondly, as part of the sunnatullah that can be explored scientifically. The study also reveals that three theological patterns have emerged in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. First, the fatalistic pattern (Jabariah) that entirely surrenders to the will of Allah SWT without attempting to resist it. Second, the freewill pattern (Qadariyah) that believes that humans have the full ability to resist and eliminate COVID-19. Third, the Ahlusunah Wal Jamaah pattern that regards COVID-19 as sunnatullah; thus, in addition to accepting it as part of fate, humans need to perfect their efforts to avoid this deadly epidemic.Abstrak: Munculnya pandemi covid-19 telah memberi dampak terdahsyat bagi kehidupan manusia di abad ini dan telah menjadi objek kajian dari berbagai disiplin keilmuan, Namun kajian dari perspektif teologi Islam terkait keberadaan pandemi belum terdiskusikan secara memadai. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan tentang bagaimana diskursus teologi Islam dalam memaknai pandemi covid-19 dan bagaimana pengaruh corak keyakinan teologis dalam merespons upaya mitigasi pandemi ini. Kajian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis dalam melihat fenomena ini dalam kerangka pikir teologi Islam. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara teologis Islam memandang bencana dari dua sisi; yaitu sebagai sebuah ketetapan Tuhan yang mutlak yang diyakini memiliki hikmah dan edukasi bagi manusia, serta dipahami sebagai bagian dari sunnatullah yang dapat dieksplorasi secara saintifik. Kajian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa tiga corak teologi muncul dalam konteks merespons pandemi Covid-19; Pertama, corak fatalisme (Jabariah) yang menyerahkan sepenuhnya kepada kehendak Allah SWT tanpa harus berusaha untuk melawannya. Kedua, corak freewill (Qadariyah) yang menganggap bahwa manusia memiliki kemampuan penuh untuk melakukan perlawanan dan membasmi Covid-19. Through literature review, data was collected and analyzed descriptively, and it was found that: First, the term \"religion\" is conceptually constructed academically based on the World Religion Paradigm (WRP) with Islam as the model and monotheism as the main feature. Politically, the WRP is increasingly hegemonic through Pancasila, and is constructed in accordance with the policy of religious life from the colonial era to the orde New Order (Orde Baru). Thus, the definition and categorization of religion are stricter and more political. Second, this construction has implications for: (1) Monotheism becoming the standard feature of \"recognized religion\", making it exclusive and discriminatory. (2) In order to be recognized by the state, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism are forced to monotheize their theological concepts and submit to Pancasila. (3) The government hastily reduces various local practices to \"belief systems\". (4) Religion becomes the main identity in citizenship, leading to discrimination and stigmatization of believers of faiths. (5) Academically, the WRP also influences the paradigm in the study of religion. This article recommends the need for a re-identification of religious categories academically, outside of political interests. In addition, it is necessary to distinguish native religions from belief systems because even though they are not identical to world religions, they are not as simple as spiritual practices. Abstrak: Artikel ini mendiskusikan bagaimana kata \"agama\" dikonseptualisasi di Indonesia dan implikasinya. Melalui studi kepustakaan, data dikumpulkan dan dianalisis secara deskriptif, dan ditemukan bahwa: Pertama, kata “agama” secara konseptual dikonstruksi secara akademis berdasarkan paradigma agama dunia (WRP) dengan Islam sebagai model dan monoteistik sebagai fitur utama. Secara politis, WRP semakin hegemonik melalui Pancasila, lalu dikonstruksi seturut kebijakan kehidupan beragama dari masa kolonial hingga Orde Baru. Jadi definisi dan kategori agama lebih ketat dan politis. Kedua, konstruksi ini berimplikasi pada: (1) Monoteistik menjadi ciri standar pengakuan “agama”, sehingga eksklusif dan diskriminatif. The response and reaction of people to the Quran vary greatly, and one of them is the practice of treating toothache using Quranic verses and a nail as a tool in the village of Tobungan, Galis District, Pamekasan Regency, Madura. This shows that the Quran is not only a routine reading for Muslims during worship, but it can also be applied for healing purposes. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, living Quran analysis, religious psychological approach, and interview, observation, and literature techniques. The study shows that Q.S. Al-Fatihah is positioned by some of the community members in Tobungan Village, Galis District, Pamekasan Regency, Madura as a verse that has magical power and can be used as a healing tool with additional rituals and equipment, such as nails and paper. This study concludes that the Quran is not only a religious text to be read during worship, but it also has healing value. Living Quran practices such as treating toothache with Quranic verses and nails in the village of Tobungan, Galis District, Pamekasan Regency, Madura demonstrate changes in people's response and reaction to the Quran over time and place. This study provides an overview of how the value of the Quran can change and be interpreted by the community according to their context and needs. Abstrak: Dalam perjalanan sejarah Al-Qur’an, penerimaan teks Al-Quran dan hadis oleh umat manusia terus berkembang dan tidak selalu sama di setiap waktu dan tempat. Respons dan tanggapan masyarakat terhadap Al-Quran sangat beragam dan salah satunya adalah praktik pengobatan sakit gigi dengan menggunakan ayat Al-Qur’an dan media paku di Desa Tobungan Kecamata Galis Kabupaten Pamekasan Madura. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Al-Quran tidak hanya sebagai rutinitas bacaan umat muslim ketika beribadah, namun juga bisa diaplikasikan sebagai pengobatan. Kajian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, analisa living Qur’an, pendekatan psikologis religious, dan teknik wawancara, observasi dan pustaka. Kajian menunjukkan bahwa Q.S. Al-Fatihah oleh sebagian masyarakat Desa Tobungan Kecamatan Galis Kabupaten Pamekasan Madura diposisikan sebagai ayat yang memiliki kekuatan magis yang bisa menjadi media pengobatan dengan ritual dan perlengkapan tambahan berupa paku dan kertas. Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Al-Quran tidak hanya sebagai teks keagamaan untuk dibaca dalam rutinitas ibadah, tetapi juga memiliki nilai pengobatan. Transcendental ideals are rejected by almost all modernist ideologists. To put it another way, there is no objective, absolute standard for truth. Truth and moral standards, on the other hand, are only relative, with validity restricted to time, location, and situation. Modernists label societies founded on divine revelation as \"static\" and \"petrified.\" Change is considered a virtue in and of itself, and the sooner things change, the better. The highest virtue of modernity is being current. The primary goal of this article was to investigate features of Western materialism and modernization, as well as the underlying causes at work in the process of materialism and modernization. It begins by studying the nature of materialism and the modernization process through an examination of the core narrative of Western history. The knowledge gathered from this analysis is utilized to create a conceptual framework. Jakfar","doi":"10.22373/substantia.v25i1.17696","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22373/substantia.v25i1.17696","url":null,"abstract":"This article aims to examine the hadiths used by the majority of scholars from the perspective of the emergence of hadiths to be used as bayan of the Koran in the inheritance of kalalah by conducting a literature review of ushul fiqh works, interpretations and explanations of hadiths. This is based on the decisions of several religious courts in Indonesia which stipulate that the existence of daughters hinders siblings from obtaining inheritance. This ruling is different from fiqh which in no way makes having a daughter hinder siblings from obtaining an inheritance based on the hadith used in interpreting the Koran. The results of this study show that consideration of the time of appearance (wurud) of hadith has become the practice of Sunni scholars in legal istinbath, but is not applied to the function of bayan of the Koran. While the Prophet made legal decisions based on the verses of the Koran that had been revealed to him. On the other hand, it can be seen that the inheritance system built by the Qur'an is carried out gradually in four stages with the revelation of verses within a span of six years, each of which stipulates certain aspects of inheritance law. The use of these hadiths is seen as inappropriate because the hadiths have lost the spirit of renewal that the Qur'an has made. The context of the verses that were revealed later was different from the verses that were revealed earlier. The hadith is only appropriate to use as bayan verses 11 and 12 of sura al-Nisa' which explain their respective parts, not to explain the meaning of kalalah. Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menelaah hadis yang digunakan oleh jumhur ulama dari sisi pertimbangan waktu munculnya hadis untuk digunakan sebagai bayan Alquran dalam kewarisan kalalah dengan melakukan telaah literatur dari karya-karya ushul fiqh, tafsir dan syarah hadis. Hal ini didasari adanya putusan beberapa pengadilan agama di Indonesia yang menetapkan keberadaan anak perempuan menghalangi saudara dalam memperoleh warisan. Putusan ini berbeda dengan fikih yang sama sekali tidak menjadikan adanya anak perempuan menghambat saudara dalam memperoleh warisan berdasarkan hadis yang digunakan dalam menafsirkan Alquran. Hasil telaahan tersebut memperlihatkan bahwa pertimbangan waktu kemunculan (wurud) hadis telah menjadi praktik ulama Sunni dalam istinbath hukum, tetapi tidak diterapkan untuk fungsi bayan Alquran. Sementara Nabi membuat keputusan-keputusan hukum didasarkan atas ayat Alquran yang telah diturunkan kepada beliau. Di sisi lain, terlihat bahwa sistem kewarisan yang dibangun Alquran dilakukan secara gradual dalam empat tahap dengan turunnya ayat dalam rentang waktu enam tahun yang masing-masingnya menetapkan aspek-aspek tertentu hukum kewarisan. However, in order to conduct politics well and in line with desired goals, a strong understanding of politics is required. Therefore, it is important to understand the concept of politics in Islam through modernist figures such as Hamka, who created a new conception of Islam and politics. The purpose of this research is to analyze Hamka's views on the rules of politics in Islam and the goals of Islamic politics. This research is the result of a qualitative literature study using Hamka's work entitled \"Lembaga Hidup\" as the main source. The results of the study show that, according to Hamka, the rules of Islamic politics should be based on natural law, moral law, and the law of human nature, and serve the interests of individuals, not groups or the state. The purpose of Islamic politics is to create justice for society, provide individual freedom, and create unity, brotherhood, and equality among human beings.Abstrak: Keinginan manusia untuk berpolitik adalah bagian integral dari kodrat kemanusiaannya. Namun, untuk menjalankan politik dengan baik dan sejalan dengan tujuan yang diinginkan, diperlukan pemahaman yang kuat tentang perpolitikan. Wasathiyah Sufism seeks to transform modern society that is rational, empirical, hedonistic, materialist, individualist, even secular into a pious, tolerant, high social spirit, and moral society without isolating oneself from society, the world, or the workplace. This Sufism helps humans develop objectivity, professionalism, and awareness of their duties, obligations and responsibilities as servants of Allah and messengers of Allah on earth which are very much needed by the people. This study uses a qualitative method to examines Nasaruddin Umar's thoughts supported by the literature in accordance with the topic of this study. The results of this study concluded that the method of getting closer to Allah through tasawuf wasathiyah is carried out by combining concern for the world with concern for the hereafter. The goal is to realize a virtuous social and spiritual order, this moderate idea (tawasuth) will give birth to a new model of contemporary society that is balanced (tawazun), proportional (i'tidal), and tolerant (tasamuh).Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan menyajikan penggalian mendalam atas tasawuf wasathiyah yang merupakan salah satu bentuk tasawuf modern, tanpa penyederhanaan atau perluasan gagasan intinya. Tasawuf Wasathiyah berupaya mengubah masyarakat modern yang rasional, empiris, hedonistik, materialis, individualis, bahkan sekuler menjadi masyarakat yang saleh, toleran, berjiwa sosial tinggi, dan bermoral tanpa mengisolasi diri dari masyarakat, dunia, atau tempat kerja. Tasawuf ini membantu manusia mengembangkan objektivitas, profesionalisme, dan kesadaran akan tugas, kewajiban, dan tanggung jawabnya sebagai hamba Allah dan utusan Allah di muka bumi yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh umat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang meneliti pemikiran Nasaruddin Umar dalam didukung dengan literatur-literatur kepustakaan sesuai dengan topik penelitian ini. This study uses a qualitative research method presented in a descriptive analysis design, based on the theory of scientific interpretation. The technique used for data collection is literature review using books and journals that have a correlation with this research. This study shows the relationship between the structure of human skin and medical science as written in the verses of the Quran. The different fingerprints on human skin have been explained in the Quran and are relevant to the explanation of forensic science in the field of medicine, to help identify criminals or find the owner of fingerprints. Furthermore, the anatomical structure of the skin also serves as a pain receptor, as explained in the Quran, which is relevant to the explanation of medical science, that if sensory nerves are damaged, pain receptors will disappear. Therefore, it is clearly written in the Quran that the punishment for disbelievers in hell is that their skin will be burned and Allah will replace it with new skin, so that the disbelievers will feel continuous pain. This study concludes that the connection between the Quran and existing technological advancements is very close, as everything that exists and happens has been clearly written in the Quran.Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan tentang relevansi ilmu kedokteran dengan Al-Qur’an tentang struktur kulit manusia. Kajian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang penyajiannya menggunakan desain analisis deskriptif, yang didasari oleh teori tafsir sains. adapun teknik dalam pengumpulan data, menggunakan telaah kepustakaan dengan sumber buku-buku dan jurnal yang memiliki korelasi dengan penelitian ini. Kajian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara struktur kulit manusia dengan ilmu kedokteran sebagaimana telah tertulis dalam ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an. Sidik jari pada kulit manusia yang berbeda-beda telah dijelaskan dalam Al-Qur'an dan relevan dengan penjelasan ilmu forensik yang ada pada bidang kedokteran untuk membantu menemukan pelaku kejahatan atau menemukan pemilik sidik jari. Lalu struktur anatomi kulit juga menjadi reseptor rasa sakit sebagaimana penjelasan Al-Qur'an juga relevan dengan penjelasan ilmu kedokteran, yaitu jika ujung saraf sensorik sudah rusak, maka reseptor rasa sakit akan hilang. Maka dari itu tertulis jelas di dalam Al-Qur’an bahwa balasan azab bagi orang-orang kafir di neraka kelak adalah jika kulit itu hangus maka Allah akan mengganti dengan kulit yang baru, agar orang kafir merasa sakit yang bersifat terus menerus. However, the assumption of some people that the words of Prophet Muhammad as an ordinary human being are considered as religious obligations to be followed or avoided, this burdens the weight of practicing religion and eventually leads some of the community to ignore all religious teachings. In this study, the author wants to look at a clear format of the elements of sharia in the Prophet's Sunnah so that it can be used as a guide in finding laws and providing a clear understanding to the community about what teachings are truly part of the religion. This research is qualitative, with the main focus on studying the Prophet's actions as a basis for discovering laws. The study found that some of the Prophet's actions are not included in the elements of sharia, whether it is mandatory, recommended, or permissible by sharia law, so the hadiths in this category cannot be used as sharia law and are not binding on Muslims to follow them. The Prophet's actions related to worldly matters, such as being a head of state and a judge, customary practices, or human characteristics, cannot be used as a reference in establishing sharia law and are not part of Islamic teachings. Abstrak: Nabi Muhammad SAW memiliki dua sifat, sebagai Rasul dan  manusia biasa. Akan tetapi anggapan sebagian orang bahwa ucapan Nabi Muhammad selaku manusia biasa pun dianggap sebagai agama yang wajib diikuti atau dijauhi, hal ini membuat beban dalam beragama menjadi lebih berat dan akhirnya mendorong sebagian umat mengabaikan seluruh ajaran agama. Dalam kajian ini, penulis ingin melihat format yang jelas mengenai unsur-unsur syariat dalam Sunnah Nabi sehingga dapat dijadikan panduan dalam menemukan hukum dan memberi gambaran yang jelas kepada umat ajaran apa saja yang benar-benar bagian dari agama. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif, fokus utama adalah kajian terhadap perbuatan Nabi sebagai dasar dalam penemuan hukum. Penelitian menemukan bahwa beberapa tindakan Nabi yang tidak termasuk dalam unsur syariat, baik itu hukum wajib, sunnah, atau mubah syar‘iyyah, sehingga hadis-hadis dalam kategori ini tidak bisa dijadikan sebagai hukum syariat dan tidak mengikat umat Islam untuk mengikutinya. This research uses a literature review method, with the primary source being Al-Jailani's Tafsir, and then uses Fazlur Rahman's Double Movement Hermeneutics Theory to reinterpret the meaning of \"idribuhunna.\" This study shows that the moral idea behind Surah An-Nisa verse 34 is to provide education and teaching to a disobedient wife so that she does not act disobediently again, not to hurt or punish her. Al-Jailani's interpretation seems to legitimize the action of hitting a disobedient wife without providing clear provisions and limitations, which is not in line with the moral idea contained in Surah An-Nisa verse 34. Therefore, the most relevant meaning of the word \"idribuhunna\" is a symbolic gesture without direct hitting. If hitting is really necessary, then it must adhere to the provisions and limitations, namely, it must not cause pain, injury, or broken bones; hit the face area; repeat hitting in the same place; and using a whip or stick is prohibited. Although hitting a wife is allowed, scholars agree that leaving is preferable.Abstrak: Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan reinterpretasi makna “idribuhunna” dalam penafsiran Al-Jailani pada penggalan ayat QS. An-Nisa’ ayat 34, kemudian memberikan ketentuan dan batasan dalam memukul istri yang nusyuz. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kepustakaan dengan sumber primernya adalah kitab Tafsir Al-Jailani, kemudian menggunakan pendekatan teori hermeneutika Double Movement milik Fazlur Rahman dalam melakukan reinterpretasi makna “idribuhunna”. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa ide moral dari QS. An-Nisa’ ayat 34 adalah untuk memberikan pendidikan dan pengajaran kepada istri yang nusyuz agar tidak berbuat nusyuz lagi, bukan menyakiti dan menyiksanya. Al-Jailani dalam tafsirnya terkesan melegitimasi tindakan pemukulan terhadap istri yang nusyuz tanpa memberikan ketentuan dan batasan yang jelas, sehingga hal ini tidak sejalan dengan ide moral yang terkandung dalam QS An-Nisa ayat 34 tersebut. Maka makna dari kata “idribuhunna” yang paling relevan adalah isyarat tangan saja tanpa memukul secara langsung. Jika memukul memang benar-benar diperlukan, maka harus memperhatikan ketentuan dan batasan yaitu tidak boleh menyakitkan, tidak menyebabkan luka, tidak sampai mematahkan tulang, tidak memukul pada daerah wajah, tidak boleh mengulangi pukulan di tempat yang sama, dan dilarang menggunakan cambuk atau tongkat.
