This research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The data needed are the ritual or implementation of Petawaren tradition and the traditional objects used, especially at a wedding or Ngerje ceremony. Primary data are obtained from research informants, namely traditional leaders, cultural figures, and community leaders, while secondary data are obtained from the relevant literature, documents, results of previous studies, and references. The techniques of collecting data are done by interviewing, observing, and documenting. This research also employs a relational dialectical theory. The results conclude that Petawaren tradition is purely Gayo culture, whereas the dialectics of Islam and Petawaren tradition in the Gayo community is more like accommodation of Islamic values. Therefore, the interpretation of the customary symbols, practices, and objects is eventually based on the Islamic teachings which replace the animistic beliefs existing before the arrival of Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis ritual (amalan) serta benda-benda adat yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan tradisi Petawaren masyarakat Gayo di Kabupaten Aceh Tengah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif. Data yang diperlukan berupa tata cara pelaksanaan serta benda-benda yang digunakan dalam tradisi Petawaren pada upacara perkawinan Ngerje. Data utama bersumber dari informan penelitian, yaitu sesepuh (petue), tokoh adat, dan tokoh masyarakat. Sedangkan data sekunder diperoleh dari literatur, dokumen, hasil penelitian terdahulu, dan referensi yang relevan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, pengamatan, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan teori dialektika relasional. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa tradisi Petawaren adalah murni budaya Gayo, sedangkan dialektika Islam dan tradisi Petawaren pada masyarakat Gayo lebih kepada akomodasi nilai-nilai Islam. Jumahalaso","doi":"10.18860/eh.v22i2.9404","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18860/eh.v22i2.9404","url":null,"abstract":"      الأمثال مجموعة من أفكار الشعوب وعاداتها وعقائدها وتقاليدها المتوارثة جيلاً بعد جيل، وهي مرآة تعكس ثقافات الشعوب بصفة عامة، ومن أكثر أساليب التعبير الشعبية انتشارا وشيوعا، وأقدرها على مساعدة المتكلم للوصول إلى هدفه بأقل جهد وفي أقصر وقت. وقد حظيت الأمثال باهتمام كبير وعناية عظيمة لدى الأدباء العرب وحكمائها وشعرائها نظرا للأهمية التي تكتسبها في الثقافة العربية لما فيها من إيجاز اللفظ وإصابة المعنى وغيرها. وكما تهتم العرب بفن المثل وبحسن استعماله في كلامهم، كذا الشعب اليوربوي القاطنون في الجنوب الغربي لدولة نيجيريا يولون استخدام الأمثال في ثنايا حديثهم اهتماما أعظم وعناية كبرى لأن المثل عند حصان الكلام الذي يركبه المتكلم إلى هدفه. ولأهمية المثل لدى الشعبين جاءت هذه الدراسة لتتناول المثل من حيث مفهومه، وأنواعه، ومصادره، وكيفية استعماله في الكلام لدى الشعبين. وقد نسج الباحث في جمع مواد الدراسة وفحصها وتحليلها على منوال المنهج الوصفي مع الاستعانة بالمنهج التاريخي. ومما توصلت إليه الدراسة من النتائج أن المثل ظاهرة أدبية شعبية وعالية عرفتها شعوب العالم وبالأخص الشعب العربي واليوربوي، وأن مفهومه وأنواعه وخصائصه متقاربة جدا، وأن غالبية أمثال أمة أو شعب يتكرر بألفاظها وبمعنانيها في أمثال الشعوب الأخرى مع اختلاف عروقها ولغاتها وتباعد أماكنها. Proverbs are collection of peoples' customs, beliefs, and traditions inherited from one generation to another and one of the most popular methods of expression assisting the speaker effectively and efficiently. Proverbs have received great attention and concern among the Arabs. Similarly, the Yoruba people of Nigeria are interested in proverb and its good usage in every task, as according to them, it is as if a horse of speech which the speaker rides to his goal. By virtue of the importance of proverb among them, this study addresses proverb in terms of its concept, types, sources, and how it is used in their speech. In the collection, examination and analysis of data, the researcher makes use of the descriptive and historical methods. Among of the research findings are: (i) proverb is a literary phenomenon popularly known and used by peoples in the world, particularly in Arab and Yoruba. A qualitative method was conducted from a subjectivist epistemological position. Six hijabi basketball players between the ages of 16 and 30 were recruited to participate in this study. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews. A thematic analysis was adopted to analyze the data since this analysis method allows the researchers to interpret based on the data's in-depth examination. The study results showed that the negotiation of Islam identity was found in the ways of modifying their sports attires and behaviors in and out of the basketball fields. All of the participants saw their modifications as positive actions to integrate the Islamic values in their lives.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui negosiasi identitas Muslim yang direfleksikan dari pengalaman para pemain bolabasket yang berhijab di Indonesia. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan subjectivitas epistemologis. Enam pemain dari usia 16 hingga 30 tahun dipilih menjadi partisipan. Data dikumpulkan melalui interview semi struktural. Sedangkan analisa datanya merupakan analisa tematik karena dalam interpretasi data diperlukan pemeriksaan yang detail dan mendalam. Hasil analisa data menunjukkan bahwa negosiasi Identitas sebagai orang Islam dilakukan dengan cara memodifikasi kostum olahraga dan sikap mereka baik di dalam maupun di luar lapangan bolabasket. The research process used participatory observation method in clinical settings to examine Sufi healing practices and interview therapists and patients who use Sufi healing services, as well as comparative-historical methods in studying the ontology and epistemology of healing. The findings of this study include: first, Sufi healing contains elements of bayani, irfani, and finally bil kasbi. Yet, in practice it takes the irfani as the most common method, especially through the method of prayer, zikr, and prayer. Second, the integration built by Islamic therapists is done by combining medical method in the area of marketing share and psycho-sufism to build patient confidence. Third, this role is more than Sufi healing prioritizing the practice of religious capitalization, namely identifying medical treatment clinics in the form of Sufi healing for economic purposes. Artikel ini mengkaji pergeseran fungsi dan motif penyembuhan sufi dari tradisi pesantren yang aktor utamanya kiai tabib yang mengutamakan pengabdian kepada kesehatan dan penyembuhan masyarakat sebagai bagian dari dakwah, berubah ke motif kapital tradisi penyembuhan dalam Islam. Dalam proses penelitian menggunakan metode observasi partisipatif ke tempat klinik yang membuka praktek penyembuhan sufi dan mewawancarai terapis dan pasien 288 Sufi Healing Commodification Throughout East Java Urban Environments el Harakah Vol. 22 No. 2 Tahun 2020 el Harakah Vol. 22 No. 2 Tahun 2020 yang menggunakan jasa penyembuhan sufi, serta menggunakan metode historis komparatif dalam menelaah ontologi dan epistemologi penyembuhan. Adapun temuan penelitian ini antara lain pertama, penyembuhan sufi memuat unsur bayani, irfani, dan terakhir bil kasbi. Namun dalam prakteknya cara irfani menjadi metode yang paling umum dilakukan, khususnya melalui metode do’a, zikir, dan salat. Kedua, integrasi yang dibangun para terapis islami adalah dengan cara memadukan antara cara medis pada wilayah pemasaran dan psiko sufistik untuk membangun keyakinan para pasien. Islam was a dynamic product and a long-term process of giving and receiving its people’s dynamics and social interaction. The contradiction between the ideal demands of religion and the demands of tradition and society’s social reality was a crucial problem faced by any religion in the world, but adjustments to social reality always occurred. The Islamic society in the Minangkabau border area was a cultural community that had and continued to confirm genuinely and became accommodative openness in resolving the contradictions of adat and Islam which were in principle very apparent in their cultural systems. Through ethnographic research, this article revealed that conflict and contradictions between the normative concepts of Islam and adat (custom) always occurred in societies of Minangkabau and Mandailing ethnics, especially related to marriage, kinship, inheritance system, and communal property ownership. However, the process always ran elegantly and attractively through the dialectics and the dynamics of the people. Thus, Islam was culturally acculturated with Minangkabau and Mandailing, and formed a distinctive cultural Islamic identity in the border area. Relasi Islam dengan kebudayaan adalah sesuatu yang selaras dan bukan antonim. Islam adalah produk dinamis dan proses dalam jangka panjang, yang saling memberi dan menerima dalam dinamika dan interaksi sosial masyarakatnya. Organizational culture is a basic assumption that grows from social construction results based on a mutual agreement to solve problems and achieve organizational goals. Therefore, the organizational culture in each company is different. This study uses a qualitative approach to data collection and analysis. Data collection uses in-depth interviews with the informant. The informants are leaders, employees, and customers of the BMT. The results of the study show the practice of religious culture. The dimensions of religious culture are amanah or trustworthy, mutual help (ta'awun), kinship and togetherness. Its value is clarified with sharia enterprise theory. This research has implications for developing the concept of organizational culture based on the peculiarities of Islamic microfinance institutions based on pesantren. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengembangkan konsep budaya organisasi di lembaga keuangan mikro syariah BMT Sidogiri Denpasar, Bali. Budaya organisasi merupakan asumsi dasar yang tumbuh dari hasil konstruksi sosial berdasarkan kesepakatan bersama untuk menyelesaikan masalah dan mencapai tujuan organisasi. Oleh karena itu, budaya organisasi dalam setiap perusahaan berbeda-beda. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dalam pengumpulan dan analisis data. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam kepada informan. Para informan adalah pimpinan, karyawan, dan nasabah BMT Sidogiri. Hasil penelitian menemukan penerapan budaya religius. Dimensi budaya religius tersebut meliputi amanah, tolong menolong (ta’awun), kekeluargaan kebersamaan. Nilai budaya religius tersebut selanjutnya diperjelas dengan teori usaha syariah. The gugon tuhon was related to the marriage cycle, pregnancy cycle, and children family education. The data were obtained through interviewing the Javanese society in Surakarta area. It employed an interactive analysis with the cultural interpretation relevant to Islamic values. The result indicates that some gugon tuhon in the marriage include prohibition for brides to go out by themselves and conduct wedding ceremonies in Sura/Muharram month. In the pregnancy cycle of gugon tuhon, pregnant women are prohibited from gossip and think negatively since those result in the child personality. Husbands of pregnant women are also prohibited from killing or hurt animals because their children will be harmed. The gugon tuhon in educating children includes the prohibition to go out at Maghrib (sunset prayer) because an evil spirit will kidnap them and suggest washing hands and legs before visiting babies. The existence of gugon tuhon can be used as the character education to construct good habits. Besides, gugon tuhon functions to implant Islamic moral values in terms of tolerance, responsibility, and good deeds to build a harmonious life system.Penelitian ini mengkaji gugon tuhon di Surakarta dan kaitannya dengan nilainilai keislaman. Gugon tuhon yang dikaji adalah dalam siklus pernikahan, siklus kehamilan, dan yang digunakan untuk mendidik anak. Data diperoleh dari hasil wawancara dengan masyarakat di wilayah karesidenan Surakarta. Analisis interaktif digunakan dengan pemaknaan secara kultural selanjutnya direlevansikan dengan nilai islami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan beberapa gugon tuhon dalam perkawinan, diantaranya adalah larangan calon penganten putri untuk bepergian sendiri dan larangan untuk melaksanakan pernikahan di bulan Sura/Muharram. Dalam gugon tuhon siklus kehamilan, wanita hamil dilarang menggunjing dan berpikiran negatif karena akan berdampak pada watak anaknya. Suami yang istrinya sedang hamil juga dilarang membunuh dan menyakiti hewan karena anaknya akan celaka. Gugon tuhon dalam mendidik anak seperti larangan untuk keluar di waktu Magrib karena akan diculik oleh wewe gombel dan anjuran untuk membasuh kaki-tangan sebelum bertemu dengan bayi. Adanya gugon tuhon dapat digunakan sebagai sarana pendidikan karakter kepada generasi muda untuk membentuk kebiasaan-kebiasaan yang baik. This research used a qualitative approach. Data collection was done through triangulation techniques that were intended to obtain more complete data. Data were analyzed with content analysis techniques and semiotics analysis approach. Content analysis can provide closer philosophical meaning of the phrase. While the semiotics approach can help to understand the meaning of the symbolic expressions of Pamali. The phrases in Pamali contain very deep and philosophical meanings. This research showed that Pamali has a depth of meaning so that a symbolic and contextual analysis approaches can give exact meaning of Pamali expression. Thus, the local wisdom in muamalat can be considered in formulating Islamic law that applies to the Mandar community in general and the Polewali community in particular. Local wisdom in the Polewali community can be used as a consideration in the formulation of Islamic law and development policies in Polewali. Artikel ini mengupas tentang nilai-nilai kearifan local (‘urf) masyarakat Polewali Sulawesi Barat dan apresiasi hukum Islam terhadapnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui teknik triangulasi yang bertujuan untuk memperoleh data yang lebih lengkap. Data dianalisis dengan teknik analisis isi dan pendekatan analisis semiotika. Hal itu karena prsan di dalam Pamali yang menggunakan bahasa simbolik 264 Pamali Culture of Polewali Community el Harakah Vol. 22 No. 2 Tahun 2020 el Harakah Vol. 22 No. 2 Tahun 2020 untuk tujuan tertentu. Analisis isi dapat lebih mendekatkan pada makna filosofis dari ungkapan. Sedangkan pendekatan semiotika dapat membantu untuk memahami makna ungkapan simbolik Pamali. Ungkapan pada Pamali mengandung makna yang sangat dalam dan filosofis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Pamali memiliki makna yang dalam sehingga hanya dengan pendekatan analisis simbolik dan kontekstual dapat menempatkan makna ungkapan Pamali secara tepat. Dengan demikian, kearifan local dalam muamalat itu dapat menjadi pertimbangan dalam merumuskan hukum Islam yang berlaku bagi masyarakat Mandar umumnya dan masyarakat Polewali pada khususnya. One’s religious attitude can be manifested in religious forms and actions through religious rituals such as prayer, fasting, zakat, pilgrimage, and other rituals such as tahlil, istighasha, and salawat. Public openness to religious traditions will close the space for radicalization. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques, Interviews, documentation and focus group discussion. The findings of this study: first, the salawat council becomes a forum for people who have a spirit of religiosity in carrying out religious traditions. The development of salawat assemblies in the Mataraman region is quite a lot, but there are salawat assemblies having affiliations with FPI and defend against HTI. Second, the salawat council's existence received a response from Gus (young Kyai) who then brought the salawat council as a counterweight to the previous assembly. Its presence becomes a choice for the people in neutralizing radical understanding. As the community's religious universe grows, it needs an assembly that can lead to Islam's concept wasathiyah. Tradisi keagamaan menjadi wujud dari religiusitas masayarakat. Sikap religiusitas seseorang dapat diwujudkan dalam bentuk dan tindakan keagamaan melalui ritual-ritual kegamaan seperti, salat, puasa, zakat, haji, dan ritual lain seperti tahlil, istighasha, dan salawat. Keterbukaan masyarakat pada tradisi agama akan menutup ruang gerak radikalisasi. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data, wawancara, dokumentasi dan FGD. Temuan penelitian ini: pertama, majelis salawat menjadi wadah bagi masyarakat yang mimiliki spirit religiusitas dalam menjalankan tradisi keagamaan. Perkembangan majelis salawat di wilayah Mataraman cukup banyak, akan tetapi ada majelis salawat yang memiliki afiliasi dengan FPI dan melakukan pembelaan terhadap HTI. Kedua, keberadaan majelis salawat tersebut mendapat respon dari Gus (kyai muda) yang kemudian memunculkan majelis salawat sebagai penyeimbang  majelis sebelumnya. Kehadirannya menjadi pilihan bagi umat dalam menetralisir paham radikal. Zubair","doi":"10.18860/eh.v22i2.10320","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18860/eh.v22i2.10320","url":null,"abstract":"الدراسة المقارنة هي فن من فنون الأدب التي تعزز تلاقي الأفكار والمعرفة والثقافة. ولقد تلقى هذا النوع من الدراسة عناية فائقة لدى الدارسين في اللغة العربية والإنجليزية في العصر الحديث. ومع ذلك، كانت مقارنة العمل الأدبي العربي بالعمل الأدبي الإنجليزي نادرًا جدًا في مجال الدراسات العربية في نيجيريا. لذلك ركّزتُ هذه الورقة على استنباط ودراسة أوجه الاختلاف بين كتابي «الأيام» لطه حسين و«أكى سنوات الطفولة»لـ Wole Soyinka (وولي شوينكا). ومن أهدافها أن تقوم بمقارنة وتباين مضامين العملين الأدبيْين، وتحليل الجانب الفني والسردي في الكتابين المقارنين وتوضيح بعض سلوك الطفولة على الرغم من خلفية منطقتيهما وأيديولوجيتيهما ودينيهما المختلفين؛ واعتمدت الدراسة على منهجين أساسي ينهما المنهج التاريخي والمنهج التحليلي؛ أما المنهج التاريخي فيتناول نبذة يسيرة عن حياة كل من الأديبين من خلال الدراسة. والمنهج التحليلي عبارة عن دراسة السيرتين الذاتيتين للأديبين، وتمّ تحليلهما على المعايير الأدبية والفنية. وفي الختام أثبت هذا البحث أنّ السيرتين تعكسان حياة الطفولة للکاتبين مع الاختلاف في البيئة والثقافة، وكلا العملين يتفق مع المعايير الفنية والقواعد اللغوية الموضوعة في كلتي اللغتين مع اختلافهما في أسلوب الكتابة. وأوصت الدراسة أنتترجم أعمال وولي شوينكا إلى اللغة العربية وأعمال طه حسين إلى الإنجليزية كما تحثّ الباحثين أن يركّزوا عنايتهم على تجارب الطفولة في أعمال الأدباء الأفارقة رغم اختلاف بيئاتهم وثقافاتهم؛ لاستنباط الفوائد والمعلومات من تلاقي الأفكار والمعارف.Comparative study is an art of literature promoting the convergence of ideas, knowledge and culture. This type of study has received great concern among students of Arabic and English in the modern era. However, the comparison between Arabic and English literary work is very rare in the field of Arabic studies in Nigeria. Therefore, this paper focuses on the differences between the books, “Al-Ayyam” by Taha Hussein and “Ake Years of Childhood” by Wole Soyinka. Its objectives were to compare and contrast the contents of the two literary works, to analyze the artistic and narrative side of them, and to clarify some childhood behaviours despite their different backgrounds in their regions, ideologies and religions. This study relied on two basic approaches, the historical and analytical methods. The historical method deals with a simple overview of the lives of both writers. The analytical method includes studying the writers’ biographies analyzed based on literary and artistic criteria. In conclusion, the findings show that the two biographies reflect the writers’ childhood with the difference in the environment and culture. Besides, both works are consistent with the technical standards and the linguistic rules established in both languages with their differences in writing style. The study recommended that Soyinka’s work is translated into Arabic and Hussein’s work into English.
