The proposed system combines an antenna diversity technique and a hybrid search scheme. Two fuzzy adaptive detectors (CA-CFAR and OS-CFAR) are used. Each detector computes the value of the membership function spanned by the false alarm space from the reference cell samples and transmits it to the fuzzy fusion center. We use two levels of the fuzzy fusion to derive the global membership function. The performance of the proposed acquisition scheme is analyzed in frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels. The simulation results show that the FAHAP processor significantly outperforms the conventional schemes. The effects of the degree of parallelism, the number of resolvable paths, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the number of antennas on the acquisition performance are also investigated.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130587138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem of coordinating the whole-body joints in order to combine manipulation and locomotion tasks is considered. Using inverse kinematics, the main scientific challenge comes from redundancy. We tackle it by considering a main equality task and additional inequality constraints. These secondary constraints are expressed by repulsive and attractive potential functions. Using this type of function, we provide a relaxation on the positioning of the projected center of mass into the support polygon, in order to increase the accessibility of the robot during reaching tasks. These methods were implemented on Matlab and the motion was simulated on the dynamic simulator OpenHRP of the HRP2 humanoid robot.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"5 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124213313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper a new state estimation method based on Dampster-Shafer theory and interval analysis is presented. This method uses belief structures composed of a finite number of axis-aligned boxes with associated masses. Such belief structures can model partial information on model and measurement uncertainties, more accurately than the bounded error approach alone. Focal sets are propagated in the system equations using tools from interval arithmetics and constraint satisfaction techniques, thus generalizing pure interval analysis. The results of applying the proposed method on a vehicle localization problem show the usefulness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115386041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The simulation in NanoFEM platform is based on solving partial differential equations corresponding to physical processes in modelled devices. A user or developer can provide these equations in a variational form format, and can define solver modules based on a FEM library with ability of automatic generation of finite elements and finite element forms. Solver modules can define fields for simulation and visualization and boundary conditions. Simple boundary conditions and material properties can also be specified directly in the graphical user interface. Geometry for the solved case can be defined either in graphical user interface or using Python scripting. Quality tetrahedral meshes necessary for FEM simulations are generated automatically. Visualization and post-processing is available in graphical user interface. We present some of related major existing solutions, namely open source geometry editors, mesh generators, computation libraries and visualization tools for FEM. We discuss major software components of the NanoFEM platform, i.e. Salome Platform and DOLFIN/FEniCS. We present an example simulation and visualization in NanoFEM platform. This is a simulation of the Poisson's equation on a 3D structure consisting of several geometry groups and materials forming a FinFET transistor with a mesh consisting of hundreds of thousands tetrahedrons. Because NanoFEM platform consists almost entirely of open source software components, others could eventually build similar solutions including, but not limited to TCAD device simulations after reading and reviewing the NanoFEM platform design and components.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131446764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Uplink scheduling in LTE systems with distributed base stations is considered. In the proposed model, users are connected to remote radio heads deployed throughout the cell and connected to a central base station. Centralized and distributed scheduling with a distributed base station are compared to centralized scheduling with a central base station. Monte carlo simulation results showed that LTE systems with distributed base stations achieve better throughput than systems with conventional base stations while allowing edge users better chances of accessing the resources.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130759593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This transformation will allow the exploration of both frequency and time characteristics of a given signal at the same time, overcoming the limitations of the Fourier Transform. We examine the application of wavelets in the treatment of perturbations affecting the quality of the power signal of the electric distribution systems (voltage dips, high voltage, harmonic dispersion..). The method was developed by using the MATLAB toolbox for discrete wavelet transform (DWT) analysis. The examples will be treated by both the STFT and the DWT. A comparison of the results will be presented. Finally, an application example of the DWT will be presented in order to characterize an internal fault in the transmission lines.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121935459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
