The principle is to reconstruct the state vector and measurements of the system by sliding mode observers and compare the estimated outputs with those measured. In this work, a multi observer's technique is used. It consists on construction of many observers, at least one observer for each output (sensor measurement). Each observer must be robust to noises and to other uncertainties but sensitive to sensor faults. The residual is the estimation error witch is the difference between sensor measurement and its estimated. Without failure in the sensor, this residual remains around zero and if a fault is occurred, it deviates significantly from zero. This method is applied to an autonomous electric vehicle called RobuCar. Simulation results are given at the end to show the effectiveness of the approach.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"344 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128547726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using the p-n junction I–V characteristics (simulated or acquired) and defining an arbitrary set of predetermined parameters, the exponential I–V characteristics has been set linear (linearized). Using a specific numerical technique programmed with Matlab over the linear representation allows the extraction of the p-n junction model parameters. To test the validity of this method, a Matlab code has been developed to extract the Diode's parameters in order to be compared later with the diode real parameters.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"914 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116407228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The watermark is embedded in the DCT coefficients of the green channel of the RGB colour image. The algorithm takes into account the perceptual capacity of each coefficient inside the DCT blocks before embedding the watermark information. Therefore, the first 16 low frequency coefficients (excluding the DC value) in the 8×8 DCT block was screened and the eight coefficients with the maximum magnitudes were selected for embedding. The algorithm used is blind and does not require the original image for extracting the watermark. The peak signal to noise ratios (PSNR) is around 60dB. The watermarking method is shown to be robust against JPEG compression, additive noise, cropping, scaling, low-pass and median filtering.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121029993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the destination, the two-users symbols are first decoupled, then fed to an iterative receiver that removes the remaining interference and decodes the information. Different interference cancellation scenarios are investigated. We propose a low-complexity detector that performs very close to joint detection. The theoretical bounds of this scheme are established through the study of its outage probability. Frame error rate performance are finally compared to the outage probability.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125078730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three proposed approaches (3-BS's, 5-BS's and 7-BS's) are simulated using Three propagation models and the rms-error calculated for each model. It is found that the rms-error is reduced by increasing the number of base stations. Using 7-BS's approach the rms-error is reduced by 89.11 % when compared with 3-BS's approach in macro model, and reduced by 58.39 % in long-distance model, while reduced by 56.6 % in OH model. A good initial condition guaranties the convergence of the algorithm. Here, we have used Volterra series analysis to calculate the appropriate initial condition for the harmonic balance analysis. To demonstrate the performance of the Volterra assisted harmonic balance (VAHB) method we have compared the response of a typical nonlinear circuit with two other techniques. These techniques are implemented in the commercial ADS software. They exploit arbitrary initial condition and initial condition based on the transient analysis of the nonlinear circuit. Based on the calculated results the VAHB technique has a superior performance in terms of convergence with respect to other techniques.","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133370462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of minimal thermal effects and minimal disturbance caused to tissue vasculature, electroporation is becoming one of the methods of choice in tumor therapy. There has been no report indicating that reversible electroporation can be detected by ultrasound. In this work, a cellular model for monitoring the electroporation process by ultrasound RF signals is proposed. The density of aqueous pores with different sizes was found by applying the asymptotic model of electroporation and Smoluchowski equation. The cellular model was send to an ultrasound simulation program where pores were modeled by reducing the number of reflective mechanical scatterers in cell's membrane. Results are expected to be used as an indication of electroporation's effect on cells allowing for the real-time monitoring of this process. Ultimately, an experimental verification would then allow the validation and refinement of the model","PeriodicalId":308909,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132929761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
