Though it is not momentary yet it is only a relatively enduring state which undergoes a change with the needs of the individual, the capacity of work situation in fulfilling these and the individual's own perception of the situation (Roy and Menon, 1974). Happock (1935) defined job satisfaction as ‘any contribution psychological, physical and environmental circumstances that cause a person truthfully say, ‘I am satisfied with my job’. According to Blum and Naylor (1968), job satisfaction is general attitude, which is the result of many specific attitudes in the areas of specific job factors, individual characteristics, group relationship outside the job. Glimmer (1971) has defined job satisfaction as the result of various attitudes, the person hold towards the job, towards the related factors and towards the life in general. Keeping this thing in mind the study was conducted with the sample size of 300 agricultural scientists selected from the three agricultural universities, namely, PAU, GBPUAT and HAU. A structured questionnaire was prepared for collecting the relevant data and filled by the personal interview by making visits to the relevant universities. The data were tabulated and analysed with the help of appropriate statistical tools by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). It was found from the results of the study that out of 30 determinants of job satisfaction, 17 determinants were non-significant which means that these determinants did not differ as far as the level of job satisfaction mean scores was concerned in the three universities: PAU, GBPUAT and HAU. Those determinants were self-esteem or respect from your colleagues, prestige of job outside department, opportunity for promotion, opportunity of job outside department, pay for job and amount of close supervision and so on, and this might have happened because these were the basic components of job satisfaction required by the agricultural scientists of PAU, GBPUAT and HAU. The relationship of age of respondents with job performance revealed positive and significant correlation in PAU but in GBPUAT and HAU, the relationship were found non-significant. The job performance of respondents of PAU and GBPUAT showed non-significant correlation with their family income whereas in HAU, a negative and significant correlation between respondent's job performance and family income, which revealed that as the income increases, job performance declines. It was revealed from the results that with the proper utilisation of the resources especially which was available in human form could make a difference in the present situations of the Universities ultimately polish the teaching, research and extension activities in such a pious place.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126424221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was carried out in the Kurigram district of Bangladesh. 187 farmers who had TV and watch the programmes were randomly selected sample for data collection from 6 villages under the Upazilla, namely Kurigram Sadar and Ulipur from this district. A pre-tested interview schedule was used to collect the data from the respondents in January–June 2011. For measuring the effectiveness of TV programme for sustainable agricultural development, four psychological aspects of the respondents, namely cognitive effectiveness, emotional effectiveness, attitudinal effectiveness and behavioural effectiveness were considered. Data indicated that medium effectiveness was found in highest proportion in every aspect and in case of overall effectiveness, the 68.45% of the respondents had medium effectiveness, while 13.90% had low effectiveness and only 17.65% had high effectiveness. Pearson correlation test depicted that out of 21 variables, 14 had significant relationship with the effectiveness of TV programmes for sustainable agricultural development. Result of stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that six variables namely innovativeness, training, education, knowledge about sustainable agriculture, peer relationship and agricultural knowledge contributed significantly which together explained 68.50% of the total variation to the effectiveness of TV programmes. Path analysis indicated that these variables had both direct and indirect effects to the effectiveness of TV programmes. TV watching farmers who had high innovation, received more training, more educated, more peered and high knowledge in relation to agriculture and sustainable agricultural in the society were found to be better the effectiveness of TV programmes for sustainable agricultural development.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"453 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122162495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, a farmer perceives in his own way of thinking to adopt or practice a new technology provided it meets his own interests, goals and felt needs. Hence, a study was undertaken with the objective to find out the contribution of factors towards the perception level on production technologies by potato growers. The study was carried out in the Rajshahi district of Bangladesh. Two hundred thirty two farmers were randomly selected as potato growers for data collection from 20 villages under the Upazilla, namely Mohonpur, Bagmara and Durgapur from this district. A pre-tested interview schedule was used to collect the data from the respondents in July 2010 to February 2011. Out of 11 technologies in relation to perception of potato production, ‘use of quality seed’ was at top highest ranking by the perception index where as planting space was bottom lowest. Data indicated that more or less similar percentage had medium and high perception where as 26.29% had low perception towards the potato production technologies. Pearson correlation test depicted that out of 24 variables, 12 had significant positive relationship with the perception of potato production technologies. Result of stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that three variables namely grower's education, ownership of agricultural implements and socio-economic status contributed significantly which combindly explained 61.50% of the total variation to the potato production technologies. Path analysis indicated that these variables had both direct and indirect effects to the perception behaviour. Potato growers who had more educated, more agricultural implements to use modern technology and more social status in his society were found to better perception of potato production technologies.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131275970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The horticulture hubs functions on a hub and spoke business model forming horticulture clusters of individual farmers, self-help groups and cooperatives within an area of 10–15 km radius. The study was hence conducted in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya to analyse the stakeholders of Rongram horticulture hub with the objectives of identifying different stakeholders of the hub, position of stakeholders based on their power and interest and to study the linkage among the stakeholders. Power-interest matrix was used for studying the position of stakeholders and Actor Linkage Matrix (ALM) was employed to study the linkage among the stakeholders of the hub. The results showed that the stakeholders of the hub belonged to four different categories viz., government, private, farmers and media and altogether eight stakeholders were identified. In terms of power and interest of stakeholders, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers'Welfare (MoA & FW, GoI), Directorate of Horticulture (DoH, GoM), farmers, farmers’ coordinators and the hub itself were perceived to have high power and high interest as the key players. The actor linkage matrix revealed Directorate of Horticulture as the stakeholder having maximum linkages with other stakeholders of the hub. The role and linkage with media were almost negligible. Farmers, though are important stakeholders, were not having strong linkage with the key implementing agency. Interventions to strengthen weak linkages and also to augment the role of media for better promotion and to attract better market linkages are recommended.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130902215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

India has been targeting a growth rate of more than 4% in agriculture, but the actual achievement has been much below the target. Concerned by the slow growth in the agriculture and allied sectors, the National Development Council resolved that a special additional central assistance scheme (Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, RKVY) be launched in May 2007. In case of wheat crop, the Korea district produced only 17110 tonnes of wheat grains from 14.5 thousand ha area of land, with a productivity of 11.80 qha−1 against the State productivity of 12.10 qha−1. Taking into account the above points, a study was carried out in the district Korea belonging to the northern hill region of Chhattisgarh by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Korea, during the Rabi season of 2010–11. The cultivar HD-2932 of wheat crop, suitable for late-sown semi-irrigated conditions, was selected for the investigation. Suitable sites of 0.40 ha area each were selected at 12 locations of the district based on the information collected at personal visits and group meetings to test the sample of wheat crop under the RKVY programme. The data on output were recorded from both demonstrated as well as control plots and, finally, the extension gap, technology gap and technology index along with the benefit-cost ratio were computed. The variety HD-2932 performed better (average yield 19.42 qha−1) compared with the control (average yield 13.15 qha−1) at all the locations. The extension gap was found to be 3.89–9.32 qha−1 and the technology gap varied between 19.28 and 22.31 qha−1 at all the locations. The technology index (48.20–55.78) reveals that its lower value is also feasible rather than the higher value.","PeriodicalId":286963,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Communication","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132837825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
