Tan","doi":"10.21013/jems.v16.n3.p3","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21013/jems.v16.n3.p3","url":null,"abstract":"This paper contrasts the rhythm of Li Bai's “GUAN SHAN YUE”(关山月)and that of Fletcher's English version “The MOON OVER The PASS” and finds out the functional equivalence between the Ping (平) and Ze (仄) (level and oblique tones) of Chinese poetry and the lightly stressed and heavily stressed syllables of English poetry, the number of Yan (言) (the number of characters) and the number of feet, and the rhymes. To promote the realization of musical beauty, formal beauty and emotional expression in the translation of Chinese poetry and reproduce the rhythm of ancient Chinese poetry, five-character and seven-character poem with regular line can be translated into iambic pentameter; pre-Tang poem and Song Ci with irregular line can be translated according to the analogy of character and syllable, and the feet of the translated poem can mainly be iambs; the rhyme of the translated poem can be couplet rhyme, cross rhyme or alternate rhyme. This paper mainly makes a comparative analysis of English translations of Li Bai's \"Invitation to Wine\" by using Dr Wang Feng's \"Harmony-Guided Three-Level Poetry Translation Criteria\" and concludes that when translating poems into English, we should not only achieve harmony at the macro level, and the similar style and artistic conception at the meso-level, but pay attention to the representation of various beauties at the micro-level. Inclusive education refers to a situation where learners with disabilities and special educational needs have full membership in age-appropriate classes in their regular neighborhood schools with appropriate supplementary aids and support services. Records from Educational Assessment and Resource Centres (EARC) Garissa County revealed that there was a decline in the retention rate of learners` admitted. For example, in the year 2014, the retention rate was 37 learners (45.7%), 2015 (114 learners, 38.0%), 2016 (43 learners, 28.9%), 2017 (35 learners, 31.5%) and 2018 (41 learners, 23.7%). The purpose of the study was to assess the status of implementation of inclusive education practices for the retention of learners with special needs in regular primary schools in Dadaab sub-county. The specific objective of the study was to establish the extent to which the availability and use of teaching and learning resources affect the retention of learners with special needs in regular primary schools in Dadaab sub-county. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The target population comprised 26 head-teachers, 78 teachers, 300 learners with special needs, and 4 education officers. Saturated sampling technique was used to select 23 head-teachers, 70 teachers, 100 learners with special needs, and 4 education officers. Instruments for data collection were questionnaires, interview schedules and observation schedules. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, and mean. The findings of the study indicated that the availability and use of teaching and learning materials were inadequate (mean= 2.18). The study concluded that the low retention of learners with special needs as a result of the availability and use of teaching and learning materials to a small extent.  The study recommended that the country and national government should ensure that there is adequate provision of teaching and learning resources to enhance learning for learners with special needs. The budget for materials should be enhanced. Beauty pageants, which often occur in schools during culminating activities, immensely help students gain a wider point of view towards education and can also be enjoyable at the same time. However, there are still plenty of students who tend to infer these events as leisure activities or sources for enjoyment. The main goal of the study is to determine which will transpire more between learning and enjoying, to do so, the researcher used the quantitative – correlational approach. To obtain the best responses possible, the chosen respondents for the study were the Grade 10 and the Senior High School students of Jagobiao National High School. The researcher first explained the purpose of the study and then assured the respondents that the data gathered will only be for research purposes. The researcher then distributed the survey questionnaires and collected them back after the given time limit. With proper analysis and interpretation of the data, it was determined that there is no significant relationship between the variables. The performance task is any learning activity or assessment that asks students to perform to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, and proficiency. Performance tasks as part of the student’s performance in school, probably this might be influenced by peers of the students.  The study used a descriptive design to determine the influence of peer on the performance task of the students. A total of 243 Senior High students of Jagobiao National High School answered the Likert scale questionnaire, an instrument used by the researcher to conduct the study. The study used weighted mean and chi-square to determine whether peer influence has an association with students’ performance tasks. The results show that peers can influence students’ performance tasks. It was shown in the study that students get a low grade from skipping classes together with their peers. The study concluded that there is an association between peer influence and academic performance of the students.
