Such high coercivity may cause a write-ability problem when the writer cannot generate sufficient field to saturate the media. Overwrite is a standard test method to measure the write-ability. In this work, we have investigated the frequency and write current overshoot influences on overwrite processes with a high coercivity medium in perpendicular recording.","PeriodicalId":262607,"journal":{"name":"INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference","volume":"280 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115218931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nd<sub>3</sub>Dy<sub>1</sub>Fe<sub>66</sub>Co<sub>10</sub>B<sub>20</sub> bulk nanocomposite permanent magnets in form of rods with diameters ranging from 0.5 to 0.8 mm have been prepared by devitrification annealing of amorphous and partly-amorphous precursors produced by injection die-casting. The best-achieved magnetic properties have been obtained for the optimum devitrification (15 min at 630degC) samples with 0.6 mm diameter, and are: H<sub>C,5T</sub> = 316 kA/m, mu<sub>0</sub>M<sub>r,6T</sub>= 1.04 T, M<sub>r</sub>/M<sub>max,6T</sub>=0.68 and (BH)<sub>max,6T</sub>=98 kJ/m<sup>3</sup>. A magnetic field of 30 Oe was applied during the deposition of bilayers. The CoFe/MnIr bilayers were annealed at 200degC and 340degC for 1 h in a magnetic field of 1 kOe in vacuum along the direction of the applied field during the deposition. The high frequency transverse permeability was measured in the frequency range of 100 MHz to 9 GHz. The Heb and coercive field (Hc) with field angle was measured with a Magneto-Optic Kerr Effect (MOKE) instrument. The uniaxial and unidirectional anisotropy constant was measured by torque magnetometers in order to obtain the uniaxial and unidirectional anisotropy constant of CoFe layer. The interfacial exchange coupling field has been estimated from the curve fitting of Heb and coercive field (Hc) with field angle by using the Stoner-Wohlfarth model.","PeriodicalId":262607,"journal":{"name":"INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122785786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of 1D-MPCs in MOSLM is very useful because large Faraday rotation angle of the medium can be obtained at a particular wavelength of light by designing the medium structure, which results in considerable improvement of optical contrast in MOSLM. Large enhancement in Faraday rotation (approximately 5 times large) was obtained for the localized mode of light, suggesting that the optical contrast of MOSLM can be enhanced considerably, although the garnet film thickness was very thin.","PeriodicalId":262607,"journal":{"name":"INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122083118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
