The reduction of lateral size of elongated Pac-man elements decreases the possibility of domain wall formation, which results in increasing the switching speed. However, the magnetization ringing is enhanced for smaller elements due to the high energy supplied to the element to achieve the reversal. The ringing is found to be suppressed from the reduction in the thickness of the thin film to 3.2 nm as seen from other micromagnetic studies performed on elliptical Ni80Fe20 elements.","PeriodicalId":262607,"journal":{"name":"INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129626624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For many applications requiring high speed or high data rates, the magnetization of Permalloy is underdamped, and this results in magnetization precession with a lifetime of a few nanoseconds. In these materials, faster switching could be accomplished by increased damping. The coupling to the thermal bath that allows magnetic energy to dissipate is also responsible for driving thermal fluctuations of the magnetization. These fluctuations are observable in small sensors as magnetization noise. For these applications, the noise limit of the sensor could be improved with reduced damping.","PeriodicalId":262607,"journal":{"name":"INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128323932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of external field Mossbauer spectroscopy for LaxSr1-xFeO3-y (x=1/3,1/2) concerning how the external magnetic field affects the CD state above their transition temperature were discussed. Chemical analysis showed that oxygen non-stoichiometry y were 0.04 and 0.025 for x=1/3 and 1/2, respectively. External magnetic field up to 6 T was applied both parallel and perpendicular to the direction of gamma-ray propagation using a split magnet superconductor cryostat. As the external magnetic field is parallel to the gamma-ray direction, the spectral lines 2 and 5 are suppressed (the lines 3 and 4 are overwhelmed by the strong central singlet). The magnetic moments are aligned perpendicular to the gamma-ray direction.","PeriodicalId":262607,"journal":{"name":"INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128451354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This digest discusses the use of turbo equalization for joint detection and decoding of parity codes that would be used in postprocessing systems. The proposed system has complexity significantly lower than conventional LDPC-turbo equalization systems, and has excellent performance vis-a-vis postprocessing systems. The flexibility of the proposed system is demonstrated by considering an unequal error protection (UEP) code which preferentially places Viterbi algorithm error events within Reed-Solomon symbol boundaries to decrease the sector error rate.","PeriodicalId":262607,"journal":{"name":"INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128702224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
