This method is developed for use in bioMEMS hybrid laboratory-on-a-chip for total microbiological analysis and is aimed at recognition of colonies of microorganisms for express species identification and sorting. The described approach is based on the Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) method, developed earlier. A principle of this technique is the computation of intensity gradients directions in local areas of image and determination of objects affinity using special classifier. The method is widely used for people identification, where it proved to be very efficient. In microbiology it appeared to be not as successful, because images of single microorganisms and their colonies are too similar. Here an advanced version of HOG is presented, which enabled a number of microbiological species to be identified. The method comprises the following stages: 1) Initial image acquisition; 2) Search and retrieval of the colony; 3) Simplification of the image, transition to local gradients of the grey; 4) Processing with threshold noise filter; 5) Fourier-transform of local gradients of the grey; 6) Formation of classifier by teaching the expert system by comparison with reference images. The described method is applied for recognizing colonies at earlier stages of growth (juvenile colonies) incorporating about 1000 cells. A sample of investigated microorganisms comprised 18 species from 8 different genera.","PeriodicalId":262452,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE NW Russia Young Researchers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Conference (EIConRusNW)","volume":"325 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115762633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ability to choose a CPU or GPU processor for a specific task has a positive impact on the performance of GPGPU-systems. It helps to reduce the total processing time and to achieve the uniform system utilization. In this paper, we propose a scheduler that selects the executing device after prior training, based on the size of the input data. The article also contains the plots and time characteristics that demonstrate improvement in overall execution time, depending on the input data. We found that while the tissue inhibitor TIMP-1 level is independent of the left ventricular dilation status, after being normalized to the individual matrix metalloproteinases 1, 3, 9 levels it appears significantly higher in patients without left ventricular dilation indications. Therefore we suggest that the matrix metalloproteinases levels are more important diagnostic indicators in patients with dilation than the TIMP-1 level itself. Furthermore, significant cross-correlations between the echocardiographic indices and the indices of collagenolysis system have been observed and quantified by linear regression analysis. The found relations could appear useful in the dilation status prediction as well as in the heart failure prognosis.","PeriodicalId":262452,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE NW Russia Young Researchers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Conference (EIConRusNW)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123026523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The calculation of lightning-induced voltages is generally performed in the following way: 1) electromagnetic field is calculated across the length of the line, using the model of the lightning return-stroke current as a function of time and the height of the channel. The channel of the lightning current is taken as a straight vertical antenna; 2) the electromagnetic field is then used to calculate the induced voltages using of a coupling model, which describes the interaction between the field and the line conductors. This model is based on the transmission line theory; 3) the shape and amplitude of the waves on the line at an arbitrary distance from the lightning stroke is based on the calculated induced voltage. The procedure is applied for the analysis of the voltages induced on overhead line by indirect lightning strikes with an equidistant point from the ends of the line. The influence of some parameters such as lightning discharge, striking point and terminating impedance of load currents on the induced voltage amplitude and waveshape is examined.","PeriodicalId":262452,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE NW Russia Young Researchers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Conference (EIConRusNW)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117078347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
