Data were gathered using two standardized questionnaires namely: The Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS) created in 1982 by Craig W. Ellison and Raymond F. Paloutzian, and the Nurse Spiritual Care Therapeutics Scale (NSCTS) by Mamier and Tylor in 2015. Weighted Mean and Spearman’s Rho were used for the statistical treatment. Results of the study showed that the nurse respondents have a very high level of awareness towards spiritual well-being as to religious well-being (RWB) and existential well-being (EWB); they have a moderate extent of the practice in terms of spiritual care; there is a moderate significant relationship between the nurses’ level of awareness towards spiritual well-being in terms of religious well-being (RWB), existential well-being (EWB), overall spiritual well-being and their extent of practice of spiritual care. This implied that there is a relationship between the two variables accordingly but not to the highest degree; that is, the very high level of awareness towards spiritual well-being of nurses just moderately affected their extent of practice of spiritual care. Therefore, the researcher recommended more provision of spiritual care from the nurses for their patients.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"59 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141805864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our study investigates the use of endovascular gastrointestinal (endo-GIA) staplers to perform functional end-to-end intestinal anastomosis in small dogs (≤ 10 kg) and cats. Methods: Retrospective study approved by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Ethics Review Panel (approval number 2022-144). The medical record databases of five referral hospitals were searched for patients that underwent an intestinal FEESA using an endo-GIA stapler. Dogs with a body weight ≤10 kg and cats were included. Patients were excluded if the available follow-up was less than ten days post-surgery, unless a major complication developed. Outcomes of interest for each patient included diagnosis, intraoperative complications, postoperative complications and survival time. Estimated survival was generated according to the Kaplan-Meier method. Differences between survival curves were tested by log-rank test. Results: Twenty-five patients (10 dogs and 15 cats) were enrolled in the study. The mean body weight was 5.18 kg (range 2.6 – 10 kg). Nine patients were diagnosed with neoplasia, 16 with non-neoplastic disease. The median follow-up was 126 days (range 18-896 days). No major complications were recorded. Five patients developed minor postoperative complications that included 3 superficial surgical site infections. Eighteen patients were alive at the end of the study, one was lost at follow-up. Of the 6 patients who died, none were dead because of complications from the intestinal surgery. Kaplan-Meier estimated survival was not reached. Survival was significantly longer for patients with non-neoplastic versus neoplastic disease (P = 0.005). Conclusions: Our study suggests that the use of endo-GIA stapling devices is safe and effective to perform functional end-to-end intestinal anastomosis in small patients.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"22 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140979318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agriculture employs 3.5 million Malaysians and amounts for 9.1% of GDP, according to Statistics Malaysia (2019). Malaysian poultry farming is vital to rural income and jobs. Poultry farmers must grasp market dynamics and prepare strategically to succeed in animal production. A socioeconomically challenged group was used to evaluate rural Malaysian chicken raising practices. The case study demonstrated how these principles apply pragmatically to similar groups. The study collected qualitative data via in-person interviews. Interview covered poultry producers' issues and data was analyzed accordingly. Results indicated that lack of extension agents, technical expertise, budgetary constraints, and communication infrastructure hinder poultry breeding farmers. These challenges drove them to forsake their poultry farm and focused on rubber tapping as the main source of income. The latter strategy is less profitable but less laborious and cheaper. The study analyzed how community empowerment sustains rural development. To enhance rural areas, policymakers and development practitioners must understand community-led activities and create focused policies. Further research should study how government agencies might boost rural economic activity and supply chain efficiency.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"10 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140513684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the WHO, cases of food poisoning have been on the rise in recent years. Pathogenic bacteria are responsible for food poisoning, often originating from contaminated food. Chicken nuggets, a popular ready-to-eat food, are susceptible to bacterial growth due to the risk of microbial contamination during storage. This study aims to assess the pathogenicity levels of bacteria in chicken nuggets when stored at room temperature for seven days. Samples from chicken nuggets left at room temperature were diluted and cultured on Nutrient Agar (NA) media. Subsequently, bacterial pathogenicity screening was conducted using MacConkey Agar (MC), Blood Agar Plate (BAP), and Chocolate Agar Plate (CAP). The results revealed six bacterial isolates labeled FMCN-1 to FMCN-6 (FMCN denoting Fatmawati Market chicken nugget). Most isolates exhibited a moderate level of pathogenicity (FMCN-2, FMCN-3, FMCN-4, FMCN-5, and FMCN-6), with only one isolate demonstrating low pathogenicity (FMCN-1). In conclusion, storing chicken nuggets at room temperature for seven days can lead to bacterial contamination with mostly moderate pathogenicity. Further molecular analysis is required to identify the potentially harmful bacteria.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"49 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139272115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study has started from April to July 2020 in Operation Department, Loei hospital, Thailand. The purposive sampling method has been selected with participant nurses (n=50). The mixed method design has been used to obtain the new development nursing care model and guidelines for patient care, proper assignment system, and follow-up techniques. The result showed the nurse behavior changed before to after implementing a model in pre-operation, intra-operating, and post-operation stages statistically different at p less than .001 (mean = 4.9 ± 0.1, p<0.001, mean = 1.9 ± 0.1, p<0.001, mean = 2.0 ± 0.0, p<0.001) respectively. The nurse’s satisfaction level after cycle 2 was significantly higher than cycle 1 (mean = 4.2 ± 0.3, p<0.001). The development of the new nursing care model in TKR surgery could lead to changes in the system with gained positive feedback from OR nurses. The nursing leadership, group motivation, and a cooperative nursing team contributed to the successful operation of the new model. This research recommended following this model’s protocols as a routine and further expanding to other departments such as outpatient, inpatient, and continuous care units.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128987052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the security of face recognition systems is currently being threatened by the emergence of spoofing attacks that happens when someone tries to unauthorizedly bypass the biometric system by presenting a photo, 3-dimensional mask, or replay video of a legit user. The video attacks are perhaps one of the most frequent, cheapest, and simplest spoofing techniques to cheat face recognition systems. This research paper focuses on face liveness detection in video attacks, intending to determine if the provided input biometric samples came from a live face or spoof attack by extracting frames from the videos and classifying them by using the Resnet-50 deep learning algorithm. The majority voting mechanism is used as a decision fusion to derive a final verdict. The experiment was conducted on the spoof videos of the Replay-attack dataset. The results demonstrated that the optimal number of frames for video liveness detection is 3 with an accuracy of 96.93 %. This result is encouraging since the low number of frames requires minimal time for processing.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122462465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
