Results showed that the students have high levels of knowledge and awareness on HIV/AIDS and its effects on physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects. They have a high status of opportunities in terms of their current senior high school curriculum vis-à-vis HIV/AIDS education; which means that the students have a high degree of becoming leaders on their own accord; especially if the local colleges and universities coordinate and collaborate with each other. Health Education on HIV/AIDS was a joint effort of these collaborations that educated the senior high school students accurately and completely about HIV/AIDS. Results also showed that the students have a high status of challenges and weaknesses, and low status of strengths for their current senior high school curriculum vis-à-vis HIV/AIDS education. Thus, it was recommended that they must become more conscious on what level do they understand/know about HIV /AIDS; be transformed in terms of their attributes in becoming leaders advocating about HIV/AIDS for every young person in every community.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121995022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

No one knows how long this will last or when it will stop; its spread has affected many lives especially geriatric patients living in homecare institutions. The purpose of this study is to determine the nurse’s safety attitudes in times of pandemic as perceived by the geriatric patients in home care institutions. Data were gathered using an adapted and modified questionnaire entitled, “Nursing Home Survey on Patient Safety” from the research study of Alvin C. Ogalesco and Janet B. Lim of the University of Texas, for whom the authors were asked permission for its use. The research results showed: that most of the geriatric patients were 60 to 69 years old, female, married, and stayed for 0 to 9 years in the homecare institution; a very much evident nurse’s safety attitudes was noted as perceived by the geriatric patients in terms of cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects; and that there were significant differences between the nurse’s safety attitudes when the respondents were grouped according to their gender, civil status and length of stay in the institution. It was recommended that: geriatric patients should view old age as an opportunity for continuous development, satisfaction, and well-being; and that nurses must always carry with them their best safety attitudes while taking care of them, keeping in mind all these characteristics especially on critical times like the pandemic; they must also become more sensitive to the needs of the geriatric patients, focusing on counseling them to become aware of the necessary steps to avoid infection during the pandemic; accept their limitations and mental health management.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134232978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These are traumatic brain injury (TBI) and gut microbiome relationship, the TBI and socioeconomic status (SES) relationship, and the gut microbiome and SES relationship. Literature on the relationship between TBIs and the gut microbiome underscores the loop created through the gut-brain axis, leading TBI to disrupt gut microbiota composition and diversity, which in turn aggravate existing neuroinflammation in the brain. Literature on the relationship between TBIs and SES links lower SES to higher occurrence rates of TBI and poorer recovery outcomes. Literature on the relationship between the gut microbiome and SES, links lower SES to gut dysbiosis, presenting as imbalanced gut microbiota composition and lower diversity. The TBI-gut microbiome, TBI-SES, and gut microbiome-SES bidirectional relationships reinforce health inequity and call for social justice advocacy for the protection of brain health of people of lower socioeconomic backgrounds.","PeriodicalId":260489,"journal":{"name":"LIFE: International Journal of Health and Life-Sciences","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116005033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
