In this method each meter is connected to a central station via existing power lines. In low voltage distribution systems one of the most problematic issues is three phase current balancing. Applying intelligent current balancing technique in smart meters enhances grid balancing based on statistical information of low voltage network that each smart meter gathers periodically.","PeriodicalId":256285,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2009","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124155280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aircraft manufacturers are also interested in this technology to reduce cable complexity and provide new in-flight services. Various technologies are being considered for this purpose, such as IEEE802.11a/b/g. A radio propagation map is necessary to determine the received signal strengths inside the environment and can be obtained either through accurate modelling or through a measurement campaign. A simulation model is more attractive as it can be used to identify ideal antenna locations that maximize coverage at the design stage. Since the business jet market necessitates customized cabin configurations for each customer this will avoid costly measurement campaigns. This work presents a novel simulation model which has been used to characterize propagation characteristics inside a Dassault Aviation business jet. The developed package is based on geometric optics (GO) and adopts ray tracing techniques. Simulation results were compared with actual measurements performed on-board the aircraft with a good correlation between the two. This study takes into account only a static channel whereby all passengers are seated.","PeriodicalId":256285,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2009","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117105729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its computational complexity is linear in the data block length and approximately independent of the channel memory length, whereas conventional equalization algorithms have computational complexity linear in the data block length but exponential in the channel memory length. Its performance is compared to the Viterbi MLSE equalizer for short channels and it is shown that the proposed equalizer has the ability to equalize M-QAM signals in systems with hundreds of memory elements, achieving matched filter bound performance with perfect channel state information (CSI) knowledge in uncoded systems. The proposed equalizer is evaluated in a frequency selective Rayleigh fading environment.","PeriodicalId":256285,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2009","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121966885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key role in this process is played by the magnetic field shaped in the magnetic circuit, which binds the mechanical energy Emech in the kinetic system and the electrical energy Eel in the stationary system of the machine into the Eel⇔Emech conversion process. Correctness of the designed magnetic circuit determines the quality of electromagnetic conversion of energy in electric machines. The paper presents basic properties of dissipationless loop of magnetic flux which has been applied for shaping the reactive structure of a new type of electric machines described in [3], [4]. The ability to limit dissipation fluxes in reactive structures makes it possible to build low-diameter electric machines of a big number of pole pairs which, as high-frequency machines, can achieve high densities of unit power unobtainable for conventional electric machines.","PeriodicalId":256285,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2009","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126012732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this paper is to present a coordinated methodology for operation and management of active and reactive power and distribution network reconfiguration with regard to costs related to active and reactive power generation of distributed generations and price of energy purchasing from retail market. On the other hand, in this paper, selecting an optimal network topology integrated with optimal using of distributed generations and retail market, including active and reactive power, has been tried to minimize related costs and satisfy technical and physical constraints. Since optimal operation and reconfiguration of distribution network is a complicated and discrete problem, the genetic algorithm has been used for implementing and solving proposed algorithm. In the design of a controller the uncertainties must be considered. Otherwise, if the real plant differs from the assumed plant model, a controller designed based on classical controller design approaches may not ensure the stability of the overall system. In this paper a robust controller, based on the Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT) approach is proposed for the design of UPFC controllers (power - flow and DC-voltage regulator). As an example, we have designed a case for the system to compare the proposed method with a conventional method (classical P-I controller). Validity of the proposed method has been confirmed by linear and nonlinear time domain simulation results.","PeriodicalId":256285,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2009","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129575996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
