It helps people develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to achieve the goals they set out for themselves. Evidence also shows that people with entrepreneurial education are more employable. In the era of globalization, education should be enhanced to achieve the vision of developed nation and highly educated people. Entrepreneurship education should also be applied especially in higher learning education to ensure students are more competitive in the workplace. This is also to ensure students are more independent and have the potential to open their own business rather than working with others. Hence, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia has taken a smart step by providing opportunities for students in exposing the entrepreneurial education directly or indirectly. In this paper, the methods employed by the faculty in encouraging entrepreneurship education among students have been discussed. The effect of the new educational system that has been implemented has also been analyzed. It is found that this method has greatly improved the performance of the students especially in their career path.","PeriodicalId":250947,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 11th International Conference on Engineering Education (ICEED)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125225678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to handle these design works effectively, engineers definitely requires creativity. Creativity was once considered as gift to selected few. Recent research however has indicated otherwise. Numerous research has concluded that creativity is a skill that can be taught as well as acquired through training. Recent research conducted also indicated that creativity, which is also one of the vital skills for the engineers in the 21st century, have reduced significantly. There is a need to for engineering educators in Malaysia to address this issue. This paper presents a proposal for research that is able to assess the current creativity level of engineering undergraduates in Malaysia specifically related Mechanical Design. Much research has been conducted on BL implementation in various courses but study on its suitability for engineering education is still lacking. This paper presents student perceptions on the current implementation of BL in engineering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a Malaysian public university. Three hundred and sixty-five (365) usable responses were received through an online questionnaire survey conducted at the end of a 14-week semester. Results show that students are more likely to access the e-materials but are less engaged in forum activities. Some students ignore online assessments which do not carry weightage towards course assessments. Overall, students agree that BL is beneficial but less amongst them find it enjoyable. Undergraduate and postgraduate students have slightly varied acceptance towards BL. The four (4) academic divisions in the faculty fair differently but most courses have been recommended by respondents for an internal faculty award. This study provides empirical data pointing towards room of improvement for BL in engineering education. Future work should examine the effectiveness of BL approach based on true attainment of student learning outcomes and graduate attributes.","PeriodicalId":250947,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 11th International Conference on Engineering Education (ICEED)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130966534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of RCSS is to enhance active communication between a teacher and students, that is, the interactivity of the class. We evaluated the effectiveness of the RCSS by recording the comment logs and collecting the questionnaire results through trial operations in university classes. Results showed that most students posted positive answers: “RCSS made communication with the teacher easy,” “RCSS enhanced my motivation,” and “RCSS improved my understanding.” Conversely, 10% of the students considered the comments to be a hindrance. About 30%—40% of the students posted comments to the RCSS as needed. This study also aimed to analyze the comment logs by category. The number of utterances related to the lecture doubled before and after the RCSS introduction. We found that RCSS contributed to the realization of an interactive class.","PeriodicalId":250947,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 11th International Conference on Engineering Education (ICEED)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131366496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
