Competences, accreditation, quality and Bologna process were among the main aspects which were focused on, in the disciplines of Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE). The main results of the project are three books, freely available to all the colleagues and students interested, presenting the existing curricula in EIE in Europe, the situation of the implementation of the Bologna process, mobility aspects, and a state of the art and proposition about accreditation in conjunction with a quality approach. It is a combination of a collection of software tools which simulate a system under diagnosis, emulate a pool of different strategies, methods, and algorithms of diagnostic reasoning and fault location, and allow to experiment with different embedded self-diagnosing architectures. Hands-on experiments target research teaching issues. Accreditation issues are often tackled as a separate after-design process. This paper underlines the need to merge the two issues, by rigorously making internal quality assurance requirements, designed in such a way as to comply with requirements posed by possible accreditation processes, a driver for specifications. The simulation has also a very important role in robotics. In this paper, we present an active learning experience in two courses of robotics in the framework of the Industrial Engineering degree. The benefits of active learning activities have been widely acknowledged and discussed. In this paper we contribute with a new activity designed in this context. The activity is based on two simulation tools developed for these courses: RobotScene and SGRobot. Here, we describe the methodology and the simulation tools used in a project-based learning activity. These activities have been carried out successfully during several years. Our experience is that this is a motivating activity for the students and it improves the understanding of the theoretical concepts involved. After graduating, some students decide to apply for a job in industry or in service sector, others decide to carry on their studies in a Master or Bachelor Engineering curriculum. The IUT undergraduate studies are divided into four semesters, namely S1, S2, S3 and S4, each one having several modules: some of them are mandatory and others optional. This organisation leads students to choose some modules which fit their personal and professional development plan. The interdisciplinary teaching experience presented in this paper concerns students who wish to continue their studies in the Master or Bachelor of Engineering curriculum. Certainly, their objectivity could be discussed from different points of view and many aspects could be taken into consideration in order to specify the most suitable, universal and objective criteria. Nonetheless, it could be noticed that during assessing quality of education level very often not enough attention is paid to the situation of people who finished their study at the evaluated university. For that reason at the Faculty of Electrical and Information Engineering of Lublin University of Technology some internal research was started. Within its scope was to examine the quality of education, considering different social aspects of graduated students as the primary criteria of the assessment. As the result of this research, it was possible to recognize what changes need to be introduced, to make the process of education more effective and to improve the usefulness of technical knowledge taught at Lublin University of Technology.
