So, the skills learned by the students are focused to a unique goal in each subject and it is needed many subjects, using different learning methods, to develop several skills. This paper deals with a learning method that is being used in the practices of a postgraduate course in the Higher Polytechnic School of Gandia. The proposed method is broken down into several stages and each stage is based on the previous one. Every stage tries to enhance a specific skill although all stages use a collaborative method, not only inside groups, but even between groups. The paper will show the results given by a survey, where the students give their feedback anonymously, and we will discuss the measurements taken.","PeriodicalId":220847,"journal":{"name":"2009 EAEEIE Annual Conference","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131384057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These capabilities are those concerning to a LMS (Learning Management System), a LCMS (Learning Content Management System), and an ITS (Intelligent Tutoring System). To carry out all this functionalities, our system, as a whole, comprises a set different tools and technologies, as follows: semantic managing users (administrators, teachers, students…) and contents tools, an intelligent chatterbot able to communicate with students in natural language, an intelligent agent based on BDI (Believes, Desires, Intentions) technology that acts as the brain of the system, an inference engine based on JESS (a rule engine for the Java platform) and ontologies (to modelate the user, his/her activities, and the learning contents) that contribute with the semantics of the system, etc. At the present paper we will focus on the chatterbot, CHARLIE (CHAtteR Learning Interface Entity), developed and used in the platform, which is an AIML-based (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language) bot. We will specifically address its performance and its contribution to INES.","PeriodicalId":220847,"journal":{"name":"2009 EAEEIE Annual Conference","volume":"23 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120858703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Learning electronics requires a strong theoretical background along with a significant amount of experimental work. However, dealing with highly attended courses implies budgeting limited laboratory resources which prevents students from developing their education on electronics totally. To cover this gap between theory and practice we have elaborated a distance learning methodology that complements analog electronics lectures with support for remote simulation of electronic circuits. This methodology is based on the elaboration of several circuit libraries that cover the most important cases explained at the theoretical courses. These libraries can be simulated employing the software resources available at the Microelectronics Design Laboratory (LDIM). We have designed and implemented a graphical remote access platform to the resources of this laboratory that is available through an Internet connection.","PeriodicalId":220847,"journal":{"name":"2009 EAEEIE Annual Conference","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121063327","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Students are grouped into two kinds of groups: (1) homogeneous groups composed of students from social and health areas and, (2) interdisciplinary ones that include additionally an engineering student.
