According to the researchers, artificial intelligence quickly analyzes large amounts of data through algorithms making the conclusions detailed and precise. Material and methods: The selected review includes groundbreaking publications from a database such as PubMed, Science Direct and Web of Science in 2015–2021, related to the use of machine learning in the diagnostic process of the most popular vestibular disorders. Conclusions: From a clinical point of view, due to numerous factors that influence the feeling of dizziness and maintaining pos-ture, it is not yet possible to apply artificial intelligence to the self-assessment of vestibular functions. The study indicates that the results of objective diagnostic tests analyzed by machine learning and the ENT may become an important element of clinical practice.","PeriodicalId":214555,"journal":{"name":"Nowa Audiofonologia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129304592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A family’s quality of life becomes an interdisciplinary diagnostic target as well as the aim of the intervention. So far, there have been no studies on the quality of life of families with children with central auditory processing disorders (APD). The study investigates the problem of the quality of life of families with a child with APD, particularly in terms of specialist support and social support. This study aimed to compare the quality of life of families with a child with APD to the quality of life of families with a child with different impairments. Parents filled in the Family Quality of Life Survey-2006 (FQOLS-2006). FQOLS-2006 assesses the quality of life of a family in several aspects: Health of the family, Financial well-being, Family relationships, Support from others, Support from disability-related services, Influence of values, Careers and preparing for careers, Leisure and recreation, Community interactions. Results: The results obtained in this study show higher, on the level of statistical trend, quality of life of families with children with APD compared to families of children with different impairments (excluding deafness). It was similar to the quality of life of families with small deaf children. Studied families with APD have scored the highest quality of life in the domains Family relationships, Health of the family, and Careers and preparing for careers. The lowest scores in the quality of life were in the domains Support from disability-related services, Support from others, and Community interactions. Among the specialist services used by families of children with APD dominates medical care provided by physicians of different specialties (54%), including psychiatrist (20%), then speech and language therapy (47%), psychological therapy including psychological counseling and psychotherapy for parents/families (44%). Conclusions: We can infer that the present offer of services for children with APD and their families is insufficient in terms of their needs. The FCA creates a chance to change the current situation of families with children with APD in this regard.","PeriodicalId":214555,"journal":{"name":"Nowa Audiofonologia","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131811956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to present the difficulties of adjudicating and opinion-forming entities concerning the assessment of patients with central auditory processing disorders. The difficulties described in the article translate into problems related to receiving the appropriate support that patients with central auditory processing disorders need. Schools, psychological and pedagogical counseling centers, and many other institutions that often have opportunities have no grounds to provide such support without receiving the appropriate documents. Putting into use the Classification of the Diseases and Health Problems ICD-11 and sub-sequent legal regulations regarding the patients with central auditory processing disorders gives us a chance to improve the current unfavorable situation.","PeriodicalId":214555,"journal":{"name":"Nowa Audiofonologia","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125602175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In CRS therapy, pharmacological and surgical treatment are used with an increasing role of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). Aim: The aim of the study was to analyze the maps of healthcare needs in the field of CRS in Poland and to review the latest reports regarding CRS treatment. Diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses are the most common disorders among diseases in the field of otorhinolaryngology, therefore the analysis of the map of healthcare needs in this area is important and had its justification. We also conducted an electronic literature search using the PubMed database to detect the newest articles about the treatment of CRS published between 2012 and 2018. Results: The incidence rate of the diseases of the nose, paranasal sinuses, ear, throat and larynx in 2014 in Poland was 5762.8 cases per 100 000, and the prevalence rate – 41 258.7 cases per 100 000. There were 5 132 000 outpatient consultations reported and 47.5% of them were visits of patients who visited the doctor at least 3 times. There were 288 400 hospitalizations registered at Ear, Nose and Throat Departments. Conclusions: The maps of healthcare needs is a tool which supports systemic decision-making as well as actions taken in relation to individual participants of the healthcare system.","PeriodicalId":214555,"journal":{"name":"Nowa Audiofonologia","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126384774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
