The control system of DFIG consists of two parts. The first part is the primary power and voltage (PV) control. The second part is a supplementary damping controller (SDC) based on PV control, designed to enhance damping of interarea oscillations. To achieve the best performance, parameters of these two controllers are simultaneously tuned by using a differential evolution (DE) algorithm. Results of simulation on a two-area system incorporating a wind turbine generator demonstrate that the proposed control scheme can effectively suppress the interarea oscillation of the system.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"4 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134195507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important to study the structural properties of the social network for identifying feasible public health interventions that can effectively contain a potential epidemic outbreak. In this work, we focus on flu-like diseases and corresponding people-people social contact networks. We study such social infrastructures of three cities: Los Angeles, USA, Beijing, China and Delhi, India. These contact networks are different due to different construction methodologies and the fact that the populations inherently have very different demographic structures and activity patterns. We compare them in terms of static structural properties (such as clustering coefficient, degree distribution), as well as disease dynamics and efficacy of intervention (e.g., school closure). The comparison between synthetic populations and social contact networks from different regions of the world can provide valuable insight on creating a global synthetic population and social infrastructure for studying public health problems.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132354483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to restrain various pulsations, a coordinated control strategy of rotor-side and grid-side converters of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is presented. Taking the pulsations of electromagnetic torque, stator reactive power and system total output power at double supply frequency (100Hz) as control aims, the required compensation voltages are calculated, then superimposed on the reference voltages of the rotor-side and grid-side converters. Thus the pulsations could be restrained effectively. Finally, the proposed control scheme is implemented in Matlab/Simulink on a 1.5MW DFIG connected to a power grid with unbalanced voltage. Results show that the proposed control strategy can minimize pulsations of electromagnetic torque, stator reactive power and system total output power.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"250 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115018266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Lots of features can reflect the transient stability state. Selecting the appropriate input features which have strong relations with stability or stability index is one of the key factors that acquire a better result in the transient stability evaluation. This paper presented a method that excellently combined the grey incidence optimizing order with the clustering analysis. This method can not only get different results of clustering analysis for various threshold values, but also be used in further analysis such as choosing the optimal features or optimal representations in a congeneric class. The simulation result demonstrated that the method was effective and correct. On the basis of traditional generation dispatching, this paper analyzes the possibility and necessity of energy saving generation dispatching from different standpoints such as national economy, resource consuming, environment protection, etc. This paper proposes a model of energy saving generation dispatching which considers not only operating cost but also relevant social costs, and uses nonlinear complementary function to solve this model. The model is applied in a region with five thermal power plants to obtain the optimal generation dispatching schedule. However, due to the impact of temperature drift in practice, it can not work in the long-term stable situation. To solve the problem, the double closed-loop self-tuning method is proposed in this paper for the first time. This system includes two independent systems, the inner and outer loop system. It has theoretically demonstrated the mechanism how temperature drift affects the optical current transducer. And the mechanism has also been verified by a large number of experiments. At the same time, DSP system is used to analyze and process signals real timely. So the influence, caused by temperature drift, is offset, which will further enhance the measurement accuracy and operational stability of optical current transducer.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133264635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
