A novel fault current limiter (FCL) is presented. A high speed switch is used to rapidly break the short-circuit current. A triggered vacuum switch (TVS) is used to discharge a precharged pulse capacitor so as to quench the arc in the high speed switch quickly and to realize the active transfer of the short-circuit current. A resistor is used as the current limiting component. The parameters of a FCL of 10 kV voltage level are designed. Simulations of the FCL in an oscillating circuit are performed by means of the ATP software. Experiments of a FCL sample device are also carried out in the oscillating circuit. The experimental results are in agreement with the simulation results. The current transfer characteristics and the current limiting effect are testified.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116006306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accounting for the features of three kinds of structures and special requirements of non-effectively grounded system fault line detection device, the design of line detection device is suggested in digital substation with three different structures. Also the advantages, disadvantages, commonality and technical economy of three designs have been deeply analyzed in this article. Considering the characteristic of electronic transformer and the demand for technical economy of system below 35kV, a distributive line-detection design based on small analog signal sampling is proposed in digital substation below 35kV, and this design turns out to be highest commonality and best technical economy.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124674778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aiming at this problem, this paper applies a probabilistic power flow (PLF) method to evaluate the influence of distributed generation with WES. Firstly, the probabilistic model of WES is established which considers the relationship between output power of WES and wind velocity. Secondly, instead of the conventional Gram-Charlier expansion, the model of combined cumulant and Cornish-Fisher expansion is applied to calculate the PLF. This model has the more convergence for on-Gaussian probabilistic density function. Lastly, the IEEE 34 distribution system with the modification by injecting the WES to some nodes is tested. The results show that the method in this paper is efficient and reasonable.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128483753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the signal to noise bands overlap in original Faraday effect DC optical current transformer causes its measurement accuracy to decrease. Therefore, this paper presents a Faraday magneto-optical effect DC optical sensing method based on modulation and demodulation. Moreover, a new Faraday effect DC optical current transformer measurement system is deduced and designed on this basis. Subsequently, this paper mainly studies and designs an AC modulated optical source. With data acquisition and analysis of several experiments by LabVIEW, the results prove that the optical source can steadily generate modulated light intensity. Based on the AC modulated optical source, combined with the DSP technology, a complete DC optical current measurement system is formed. The practicality of the designed DC optical current transformer system has been tested by experiments in this paper.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129544755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a technique to obtain the WTG output using statistical wind speed information, considering to the intermittent characteristics of wind power. The measurement concept was further refined in the current synchrophasor standard, IEEE C37.118, completed and published in 2005. It is currently undergoing revision to fully define the measurement in all conditions including dynamic changes in the power system. In addition it has been split into measurement and communication parts to simplify harmonizing the data exchange provisions with the IEC 61850 standard. In the first place, haar and balanced pre-processing method are used to pre-process the PD signals. And then, the vector thresholding method and the neighbouring coefficients method are used to de-noise. Lastly, the principle of translation-invariant multi-wavelet is applied to eliminate the Gibbs phenomenon. Besides, this paper compares the effect of the two de-noising methods based on different noise. After analysis and comparison of the results, the conclusion is obtained that the neighbouring coefficients method can achieve better de-noising effect. Finally, the method is applied to de-noise the test data of generator partial discharge. The results show that it has the ability to retain the original signal information.","PeriodicalId":206094,"journal":{"name":"2010 5th International Conference on Critical Infrastructure (CRIS)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114189860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
