PMU measurement quality is the key issue in application purposes. To evaluate the measurement quality, the concepts of total vector error (TVE) and benchmark tests, including the magnitude, phase and frequency step tests, are proposed in the C37.118 standard. It also includes requirements for test results. This paper reports the results of tests performed on several PMUs. These tests include both steady state and dynamic conditions conforming to the new requirements under development by the IEEE for the updated C37.118 standard. The most serious conflict influencing wind power development is that the currently adopted price of wind power on-grid does not take this fluctuation or the impact on the system operation into account. Currently, quotas and enforcing access is broadly used in wind power regulation. It is now required that all wind power output should be accepted by the grid, and is rewarded with a guided rate. But with the increase of wind power penetration to power grid, a more effective price regulation to wind power should be set up with wind output uncertainty into account. This paper takes wind farms in different areas in China as the research objects and uses accounting cost analysis approach to calculate wind power costs, which enables the wind farms in different areas to get the same rate of return on investment as that of thermal power plants. These tariffs will be derived as a basic price for the reference by the power grid then. The basic wind power prices are multiplied by a penalty factor which is an innovative as the final prices paid to the wind farms. The penalty factor is related to the accuracy of wind power output. If the accuracy of the wind farm output is higher than that of the regional average one, the penalty factor will be greater than one, so that the really paid wind power price is higher than the base value and the income of the wind farm will be increased, otherwise the earnings will be reduced. To illustrate the problem, an example is given. The wireless communication network of the energy meters is derived from a cellular automation framework where each meter is modeled as an agent. An adversary objective of attack tree based on the device vulnerabilities is enumerated with the possible vulnerabilities of energy metering devices and communication framework. The cyber threats considered in this preliminary analysis is worm propagation. Transmission of a legitimate firmware update is then followed with simulation and analysis based on anomaly patterns, i.e., the traffic statistics of the malicious activities within the network. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) is employed to measure the variation of network trend based on historical patterns, where a new anomaly pattern can be determined based on erroneous discrepancies. This paper presents different connection methods on different operation conditions based on one actual power supply system. If active power in isolated system is larger than load demand, cutting-generator is adopted; if less, low-frequency load shedding is adopted to keep system stable firstly, then synchronous connection conditions are checked to connect isolated system with external power system in steady state. This connection method is safe and reliable. When there are fewer generators in isolated supply system, stability can't be remained by load shedding, it is necessary to rapidly connect with external power grid in order to remain power supply stable, this time grid connection must be conducted in transient state. In this situation connection conditions are decided mainly by phase and frequency difference. In order to obtain higher accuracy, a new method—genetic algorithm neural network based on rough set theory is proposed in the paper. Considering many factors that influence wind speed forecasting, reduction algorithm of rough set theory is introduced to choose the neural network's input parameters. Parameters which have higher correlation with forecasting are used as input to reduce the work and calculation time of neural network. And the genetic algorithm with global searching capability is used to optimize the initial weights of the neural network to overcome slow convergence speed and easy to fall into the local minimum of BP algorithm. The forecasting values agree well with the data which measured in a wind farm. Many potential control applications based on these systems are being proposed and researched. Such applications are either local applications using data from one or a few Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) or centralized utilizing data from several PMUs. An aspect of these systems, which is less well researched, is the WAMC system dependence on high performance communication. This paper presents results of research on the use of Internet Protocol (IP) networks for both PMU and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU)/Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) data for monitoring purposes. The paper examines performance aspects of the IP network Infrastructures when utilized by both: continuous PMU data streams and critical IED/RTU data. A set of simulation models characterizing a network of a Nordic Transmission System Operator were built to perform the analysis. One possible solution could be the use of energy storage. The forecasting output can be obtained by the support vector regression model (SVR) introduced in this article, then the capacity of energy storage can be optimized by the difference between actual and predicting outputs. That is to say, energy storage devices are taken to compensate the difference, so that the deviation between predictions and actual values can be decreased. Three methods, which use both the grid and rotor side converters for voltage regulation and reactive power support, are analyzed and compared. This paper presents a new coordinated control strategy, which central idea is to use the grid-side converter as the main reactive power controller and the rotor side converter as auxiliary. The new presented control scheme is modeled on MATLAB/SIMULINK, and the results show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
