This study explores the ways in which the Party manipulates historical records, the importance of comprehending historicity, and the ways in which language and memory are shaped and controlled within the novel's totalitarian society by drawing on the theories of New Historicism, including authors like Michel Foucault, Stephen Greenblatt, Catherine Gallagher, Hayden White, and Louis Montrose. By carefully examining these ideas, this analysis illuminates the complex relationship between language, memory, power, and historical interpretation, underscoring the perils of authoritarianism and the necessity of keeping a range of viewpoints and critical thinking.","PeriodicalId":204201,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Language and Culture Studies","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133456236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While the Quran's emphasis constructions are considered miraculous, there is a shortage of English-language resources on this topic. The study's goals are to demonstrate the purpose behind the use of emphasis in the Quran and to identify the strategies used to translate emphasis constructions accurately. The analysis of five representative verses in the Quran reveals that Arabic has a stronger emphatic power than English, resulting in potential losses during translation. The study highlights the importance of context in interpreting emphasis devices and offers insights into the training of Quranic translators. Overall, this research sheds light on the translation of emphasis construction in the Holy Quran and emphasizes the need for accurate translations to fully understand Allah's original message.","PeriodicalId":204201,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Language and Culture Studies","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131278347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, because of the constrained scope, geographic location, and analytical depth, no significant findings have been made. The names of Indonesian areas need to be thoroughly and critically studied. This study employes a critical ethnography methodology and critical discourse analysis to examine the data. The findings demonstrate that the early Javanese name for the region in ancient Indonesia, Saka, accurately defines that civilization. A chronogram-based digital technique is used to create region names. The chronogram technique for naming regions result in parallel regional nams between provinces, regions, and islands within the same jurisdiction. By building a state, demarcating territory, and organizing a connection of authorities,the Saka dynasty created hegemony of authority. The archipelago model area names has the potential to support the traditional tourism industry in Indonesia.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":204201,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Language and Culture Studies","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130272598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study applies a qualitative design to descriptively examine phenomena in the realm of shake agents, in this case the government in this case the government and society. LL studies and ethnographic studies are used for the purposes of studying the social context to direct deeper discussion. Data gathering is done by documenting public areas and observing people’s attitudes. From the results of observations and studies of meaning as well as observations of the context of power, an explanation is obtained that there are information functions and commercial functions displayed in LL. Authorization in language is carried out by using terms that show that Islamic identity is attached to the area and gives a view of the value of blessing and sanctity. This encourages the tourism industry. Educatively, LL is important for knowledge about history in the younger generation. In LL, it is described the government’s efforts, beliefs, and the expansion of people’s language attitudes which also use the same paradigm as the use of phrases and words that refer to Islamic nuances. From this research, we can understand that a social paradigm, including religion, is used for various purposes according to how the belief exists. Impact appears as a result of direction. This form of direction uses language. Language is the power to shape views that produce greater impact.","PeriodicalId":204201,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Language and Culture Studies","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123643546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the outset a brief history of Nativism was provided, and then linguistic nativism and empiricism were elaborated on. Afterward, Plato’s ideas will be argued for and against and then Plato’s problem will be discussed in detail. For this purpose, his ideas will be compared and contrasted with Chomsky’s perspective of innateness. Chomsky’s Universal Grammar will be discussed in the scope of POSA, and its properties will be explained in detail. In addition, Chomsky’s viewpoints will be compared with Skinner’s and Tomasello’s to find out their perspectives on language learning processes. Finally, Universal Grammar will be discussed from the perspective of Usage-Based linguistics in order to highlight the shortcomings of Universal Grammar and address the questions that this theory is unable to resolve.","PeriodicalId":204201,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Language and Culture Studies","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123283045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, the current research was designed with a scanning pattern, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The sample group of the research consisted of 171 prospective teachers studying in the Turkish language teaching program at a state university in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. According to the research results, it was understood that the emotional and spiritual intelligence of Turkish language teaching students is at a high level. Additionally, statistically significant difference was found in their emotional intelligence by age, grade level, maternal education, and the number of books they have, in their spiritual intelligence, by age and grade level. Therefore, while there was no statistically significant difference on the spiritual intelligence of students according to the mother’s education and the number of books they have, there was no statistically significant difference on both types of intelligence according to gender, father’s education, and the number of books they read. The findings obtained were evaluated in the context of the relevant literature and suggestions were included.","PeriodicalId":204201,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Language and Culture Studies","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132858386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research method uses a qualitative research design. The source of research data is the speech of tour guides and tourism officers in Kota Tua Jakarta. Data collection techniques were carried out through field observations, interviews, FGDs, and document review. The data analysis technique adopted the qualitative data analysis technique developed by Miles and Huberman, namely the interactive model of analysis. The results showed that from the speech data which amounted to 74 dialogues, it was found that the generosity maxim was 4 utterances or 6%, the tact maxim was 6 utterances or 8%, the approbation maxim was 15 utterances or 21%, the modesty maxim was 1 utterance or 1%, Obligation Speaker to Other maxim is 6 utterances or 8%, Obligation Other to Speaker maxim is 1 utterance or 1%, Agreement maxim is 13 utterances or 18%, Opinion reticence maxim is 14 utterances or 19%, Sympathy maxim is 8 utterances or 11%, The feeling ritincence maxim is 5 utterances or 7%. The dominance of the use of approbation maxim, opinion reticence maxim, and agreement maxim, it can be said that to show politeness in language, tourism practitioners apply the rules of indecision. The use of grammatical and lingual markers in the speech of tourism practitioners such as the use of the word mungkin, terima kasih, iya, bagus, boleh, seperti itu, nah jadi … (maybe, thank you, yes, good, may, like that, well so ...) become a model of politeness in the language of tourism practitioners in the Kota Tua Jakarta.","PeriodicalId":204201,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Language and Culture Studies","volume":"169 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123532870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
