In this context, CM needs to utilize Knowledge Management (KM) to guarantee successful implementation of the change and also to sustain long-term organizational advantages (e.g. Time to market and Return on Investment). Such co-operation needs to comprehensively consider internal factors to organizational success as well as external (e.g. Customers). Moreover measuring and evaluating the co-operation foreground the essence of integrating feedback loop into the framework to empower CM and assure the success of KM activities. In this paper, a formerly developed model, IQMP, is customized and adapted to support CM. The IQMP provides a comprehensive framework to deploy Performance Quality Indicators (PQIs) and a knowledge based analysis of feedback. Finally the paper discusses conception and potential application of the inherited model, Dynamic Knowledge Assets Management (DKAM).","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"241 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115321298","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many scientific fields are experiencing an explosion of data, with signal processing being a crucial technique for aiding interpretation and for distinguishing meaningful information from noise. This process requires tools that can be easily used by researchers from all branches of science and which are fast enough to manage the enormous amount of data being generated. This paper presents such a toolkit: an intuitive, high-performance Python library for facilitating large-scale signal analysis. Of particular interest is a novel PyCUDA implementation of the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), several applications of which are demonstrated in this paper.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127709415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically, remote microgrids have load profiles with large peak to average ratios which results in frequent operation of the generators at low loading. Generators are most efficient near rated load and operation at low loading results in poor fuel utilization and increased cost. Photovoltaics (PV) can be added to microgrids to reduce the cost of energy but can aggravate the problem of low generator loading. This paper analyses several methods to reduce fuel consumption in microgrids: PV, batteries, and generator cycling. The performance of these methods was evaluated through simulations using the software HOMER and an economic analysis. Results show the effectiveness of PV generator cycling, and batteries to reduce fuel consumption and energy costs.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128383612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Investigations with ab initio methods have the potential to lead to a better understanding of the electronic properties of these materials. Using density functional theory, we calculated the density of states, absorption spectra, and partial charge densities of a model interface composed of a pure silicon portion sandwiched between SiO2 layers with a formula of Si264O160. Quantum confinement was observed in the pure Si portion, indicating that SiO2 serves as an insulating barrier to charge delocalization within the interface. This provides theoretical evidence that tuning the size of the nanoparticles and the thickness of the silicon oxide layer can affect the electronic properties.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124490221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, one notable drawback of the CWD is that it fails to suppress cross-terms when either center frequencies of two components are close or their time overlap is significant. In this paper, this problem is addressed by reconstructing TF distribution using basis functions which are extracted through Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) from CWD. The numerical analysis of multi-component Gaussian echoes are presented by using SVD of CWD. It is found that this decomposition and reconstruction approach efficiently eliminate residual cross-terms for which the CWD failed to remove. Results are presented in support of exhibiting the effectiveness of SVD of CWD for cross-term suppression.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125947476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on several anonymous submissions, we evaluate video sequences that were stored on Android devices with respect to their frame size and frame quantization statistics. We find a broad variation in overall sequence characteristics, which in turn results in large traffic characteristic deviations among sequences, but little intra-sequence variation. We observe little long-range dependency in the submitted sequences' traffic, but high levels for the quantization scale factors of the individual sequences' frames. Furthermore, we find that the evaluated video encodings exhibit characteristics of rate-controlled video encoding.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128285975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a large population of students who can satisfy a great deal of their information needs. Existing modes of information delivery are inefficient and in most cases not timely. There is therefore a need for the provisioning of a suitable software application framework that can meet this critical need. This paper presents a suitable software system that can deliver information services with mobile functionality to the content subscriber (students in this case). Mobile devices are prevalent amongst students and teachers, which provides the motivation for the application of mobile technologies in learning environment. The mobility provided was achieved using SMS over GSM Network with the hardware implemented on a GSM Nokia phone acting as a modem. Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) approach with the Unified Modelling Language (UML) was employed to document the software component of the application. This system was then implemented in Java programming language. The software developed include; integrated subscription, payment and billing, user profile management, efficient mobile architecture, and ease of content publishing, all loosely coupled, to allow for further extension to the service architecture.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131258897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A method is presented that was specifically designed to operate on sequences of images. This method considers the cost of matching image points in both the spatial and temporal domain. To maintain real-time operation, a temporal cost aggregation method is used to evaluate the likelihood of matches that is invariant with respect to the number of prior images being considered. This method has been implemented on massively parallel GPU hardware, and the implementation ranks as one of the fastest and most accurate real-time stereo matching methods as measured by the Middlebury stereo performance benchmark.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133446401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Anodization was carried out in two different modes, i.e., potentiostatic and galvanostatic with the voltage and current density of 5-80 V and 10-50 mA/cm2 respectively. Anodization time was varied from 5 min to 10 hours. Morphology of the anodized samples was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), revealing the formation of pores with uniform distribution throughout the silicon substrate. The pore size and density were controllable by varying the anodization voltage and current. Results showed that, in a broad spectrum range of 400-1100 nm, the total reflectance (sum of diffused and specular reflectance) of the porous silicon was about 10% compared to >30% of the as-received silicon wafer. The porous silicon is promising for solar cell applications due to the low reflection loss.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115014555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
