It uses a set of noisy data as input and produces state estimates with minimum error rate. This study aims to explore how to implement implicit parallelism in multi-core processor and object tracking with task-level parallelism and Kalman Filter is parallelized on Multi-core system on chip. The novelty of this study is the introduction of Adaptive Load Balancing Approach (ALBA) to compute the nonrecursive algorithm. This approach can be applied on all form of multicore computers. The parallel Kalman Filter is developed in C# for multicore using .Net framework 4.0. It uses combination of C and CUDA for its implementation on GPU.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133241407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes a real-time method for segmenting moving vehicles in dynamic scenes. An adaptive background update algorithm based on three-frame difference is proposed. By this method, the background is updated according to the dynamic change of surrounding light and external events. Meanwhile, for acquiring an accurate and whole segmentation result, an adaptive threshold algorithm which could adapt to real-time changes of light in the traffic environment is proposed. Experimental results of several traffic scenes are provided, which demonstrate the real-time and dynamic update of the background, and the effective segmentation by the presented method. The proposed method can be utilized in the complicated transportation environment, which lays the foundation of the practical application of the video detection technology.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123081262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The terminal unit is an embedded system equipped with an RFID reader for localization, a mobile robot for navigation, and a combination of ultrasonic and IR sensors for obstacle detection and avoidance during navigation. To increase accuracy of an indoor guidance system, a triangulation method is proposed to accurately detect the location. While the proposed method can be verified by many methods, the accuracy is demonstrated through use of a mobile robot. It navigates to a designated location through continuously monitoring all RFID tags in the vicinity, localizing itself, and calculating the path to the destination.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129255965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional finite element programs have a strong foundation in heat transfer, structural mechanics, dynamics and transient type problems. However, more recently problems in electrical, electromechanical, and electrochemical analysis as described by Maxwell's equations are being solved using finite element formulations. This paper looks at the use of the finite element method for the study and optimization of electrical motors. Furthermore, typical FEM makes use of auto gridding routines that rely on triangular element formulations. This paper examines the influence of the triangular shape formulation and the auto gridding routines on the analysis of a switch reluctance motor.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130660004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we first consider the interdependencies inherent in critical infrastructure systems and how resilience mitigates associated risks and then define “resilience” in distinction from convention control engineering. We then introduce the concepts “agent” and “multi-agent systems” (MAS) to consider the distributed nature of critical infrastructure control systems and illustrate the application of computational intelligence to MAS event-based dynamics (management, coordination) and time-based dynamics (execution) to manage policy and coordinate assets. In addition, we consider the optimal stabilization of the MAS and suggest the extension of graph theory to MAS execution layers. The closing discussion provides an overview of how to achieve critical infrastructure resilience through advanced control engineering.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128129540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This state-of-art technology is implements various smart devices such as: smart meters, smart load controller, smart thermostats, smart switches and home energy consoles. Furthermore, DR technology can reform the electricity system and provide clients with new information and options to manage their electricity use. Customers can reduce or shift their power usage during peak demand periods in response to real time-based rates or other forms of financial incentives. Besides, demand response policy plays a vital role in modernizing several electric energy domains including: grid reliability, pricing, infrastructure planning and design, emergency response, operations, and usage deferral decisions. In previous studies Demand Load for smart power grid is mostly implemented in a centralized approach. The significance of this study is to propose a hybrid Demand response (HDR) architecture. The study investigates the performance of DR in the context of a centralized, fully Distributed and Hybrid fashion. The research results shows that our proposed HDR scheme performances outperform all other existing demand response policies.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116513288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
