Modeling error is the failure of the forward solver to accurately model the physical reality of the MWT system. This leads to reduced fitness values of optimal solutions, and in the worst case scenario, can cause convergence to non-real solutions. A significant source of modeling error introduced into the forward solver is the assumption that illuminating radiation is sufficiently in the far-field to be modeled as a uniform plane wave. Due to close proximity of the antennas and imaging target in most MWT implementations to date, this assumption may be invalid. While the simulation of the antennas in the forward solver would ameliorate this problem, this would lead to intractable simulation times. By running a single simulation of the transmitting antenna, this significant source of modeling error can be rectified without increasing the forward solver's run-time significantly.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116837705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal is to build an intelligent control algorithm that drives the robot in an unknown environment at the maximum allowable speed, while avoiding obstacles and keeping its rate of turns to a minimum. The robot controller is based on an artificial neural network that takes inputs from range sensors and produces outputs to control the drive motors. The ANN is evolved using a simple genetic algorithm. Two different evolutionary learning approaches are evaluated. In the first approach synaptic weights of the network are evolved, while in the second one the adaptation rules of the synapses are evolved. At the end of the evolutionary processes, both solutions resulted in best performing controllers, that can avoid collisions while maximizing linear speed and minimizing turning.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129265765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many current respiratory training techniques lack efficient methods for quantifying progress and updating testing parameters. Unlike conventional local learning technique, a novel framework, which is based on the proposed sparsity induced neighbors (SINs) instead of widely used k nearest neighbors, is presented. Within this framework, the SINs of test image are training images associated with the nonzero entries in the sparse representation of test image, and they can be found by using kernel sparse coding algorithm. While its SINs are weighted properly, the test image can be classified as the category that is assigned the most weights. Moreover, we also apply the label embeddings learning in the framework, to model the similarity between categories and improve discriminative performance. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve state-of-the-art performance on three commonly-used datasets.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116322256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computation of Direction-Of-Arrival (DOA) based on Wavelet transform and other techniques are available in the literature. This work is an improved work of our previously parallel implementation of DOA. In this work, Parallel Haar Wavelet Transform (PHWT) is proposed for use in wideband DOA algorithm. This algorithm has been parallelized and implemented on Intel Nehalem Quad Core processor and NVidia GeForce GTX 260 GPU. The algorithm uses data level and instruction level parallelism for faster execution. The parallel algorithm is developed in C# using .Net framework 4.0 for Multi-Core. It uses combination of C and CUDA for its implementation on GPU. This brings the significant performance on a consumer level PC without any extra cost.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126235637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the deployment of this network, 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) works on the Long Term Evolution (LTE) and propose a system which has larger bandwidths (up to 20 MHz), low latency and packet optimized radio access technology having peak data rates of 100 Mbps in downlink and 50 Mbps in the uplink [3,4]. Radio access technology for LTE is OFDM (Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) which provides higher spectral efficiency and more robustness against multipath fading, as compared to CDMA (Code division multiple access). Offering a greater coverage by providing higher data rates over wider areas and flexibility of use at existing and new frequency bands plan is a major challenge. In this paper, we are analyzing practical coverage scenario in an urban area (i.e. Kolkata) in terms of received signal levels, total noise, interference, throughput, and quality factor for downlink signal level.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"622 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115827922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most significant points in any optical amplifier design are gain and noise figure (NF), low NF and high gain are the main features for optimum REDFA. In this approach data is encoded by using a decomposition of a circulant matrix and the output of encoder is splitted into N streams to be transmitted simultaneously to N transmit antennas.
