QR code antennas can have different visual shape for the same URL, based on different error correction level. These antennas can be engineered to radiate at the same frequency. Here, the simulations of three QR code antennas are presented. The antennas have low return loss at 2.4 GHz and omnidirectional pattern, ideal for receivers. These antennas can also be used as an advanced and hard-to-replicate security feature for WiFi/WLAN/Bluetooth applications or other.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117150805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

GFSK is a subclass of Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) where phase is constrained to be continuous during symbol transition which results in enhanced spectral properties, that makes it an attractive modulation in many wireless applications. In this paper, we investigate applying linear Kalman Filter (LKF) to non-coherently track the phase of GFSK modulation scheme in Bluetooth receivers. The paper examines the performance of Linear Kalman Filter for both Additive White Gaussian channel noise (AWGN) and Non-Gaussian Impulsive Noise with IEEE802.11 coexistence. Both technologies operate in the unlicensed 2.4GHz Industrial Scientific Medical (ISM) Band. Mean Square Error (MSE) was used as a measurement for the performance. Experimental results for Linear Kalman Filter for Gaussian channel and Non Gaussian Impulsive Noise are provided.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"292 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127197604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the a-Si:H top cell, we focused on opto-electrical and structural properties of phosphorous-doped hydrogenated silicon (Si:H) films and their effect on the open circuit voltage (Voc). The experimental results indicated that when nanosized silicon crystalline grains existed in amorphous silicon matrix, the Voc of a-Si:H solar cells was much improved. An initial efficiency of 9.4% for a-Si:H solar cell was obtained. For the μc-Si:H bottom cell, we investigated the structural evolution along the growth direction of the intrinsic μc-Si:H layers. We introduced a high-quality initial seed layer at p/i interface to reduce the incubation layer thickness by lowering the silane concentration and very-high-frequency (VHF) power simultaneously. This initial seed layer acted as a seed layer for bulk μc-Si:H i-layer and the process reduced the ion bombardment on the p/i interface. We demonstrated a VHF power profiling technique by decreasing the VHF power step by step during the μc-Si:H deposition to control the structural evolution along the growth direction in the bulk i-layer. The advantage of this VHF power profiling technique was the reduced ion bombardments on growth surface because of the reduced VHF power. A high conversion efficiency of 9.36% was obtained for μc-Si:H p-i-n solar cell. Using a double n-layer (a-Si:H&μc-Si:H) in n/p tunnel recombination junction, we achieved the best conversion efficiency of 11.63% for a-Si:H/μc-Si:H tandem solar cells.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125100457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four HMMs are trained to model parameter variations in the power converters. Each HMM is created based on 14 visible states, which generates probability of each time step matching a signature fault pattern. The proposed method can cover multiple faults that may occur in any element of power electronic circuits. It can also achieve high precision of diagnosing for pre-defined faults in real-time. The simulation results demonstrate an accurate diagnosis performance using HMMs.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"9 3‐4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132226585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This robot makes use of a ZigBee wireless network to locate itself in the tour area using a weighted centroid technique. Most popular technologies like GPS based localization do not work well in the indoor environment that the tour guide robot would operate in. The ZigBee-based solution works better in this type of environment plus the individual ZigBee nodes can be used for building monitoring applications (such as temperature and smoke detection) as well. The weighted centroid method is not the only method of localization but it is the simplest. Other competing methods like trilateration and triangulation are more prone to error as they require accurate distance measurements that an indoor environment with its myriad of reflective surfaces cannot provide. The implementation that this paper presents was able to achieve a desirable level of accuracy. The best case in the trials was a 0.61 m margin of error, and the average case was 2.38 m.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117115319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We evaluate the submitted data in two hour time intervals with respect to device-level network traffic amounts, application network activity times, and data distribution (as measure of connectivity) between mobile (cellular) and wireless LAN networks. We find fairly homogeneous values with low levels of autocorrelation or long range dependence for the device-level amounts of data, but an indication for self-similarity for the summed application network usage times, which are positively correlated. In addition, we observe that the average distribution for cellular interface usage exhibits clear patterns for the day of the week as well as the time of the day. The combination of these findings can find direct utilization in future mobile device utilization modeling efforts.","PeriodicalId":201202,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro-Information Technology , EIT 2013","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122813131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
