However, the recording of student data, the recovery of experiments, free time, in addition to the loan of components, instruments and electronic devices is not done under the same system, which requires the administrative staff to keep all the record of information on sheets. For this reason, the main objective of this work is the implementation of a virtual platform based on the Internet of Things in order to perform such registration under the same execution environment using development boards, mobile applications, verification tools and browsers linked to the platform, which would provide a more efficient service for the student body.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"476 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123032798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In terms of certifications, universities have been working with the ISO-9001 standard, but this was not designed for the education sector, which makes it difficult to interpret its requirements. In May 2018, the ISO-21001 standard designed for the education sector was approved, but it is necessary to analyze and evaluate this new standard to identify the advantages and difficulties of its implementation. The ISO-21001 has several requirements. In this research the requirement “Provision of Educational Products and Services” is evaluated as being key in the teaching process. Finally, an evaluation methodology is proposed which is applied in the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Sciences and Humanities, resulting in the determination of concrete actions to bridge the identified gap.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131366542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This represents a great challenge for Engineering degree courses. The curricularization of the activities carried out by students in research projects, technological development, extension or transfer as an Integrating Project or Supervised Professional Practice can strongly contribute to the development of the expected students’ competencies in the level of development reached and with the desired orientation while integrating the University’s substantive functions making an impact and fostering a sense of belonging to the community on graduated students. This paper describes the analysis of the conditions that should be met before the activity of these students in the mentioned projects could be curricularly recognized and meet the requirements of an Integrating Project or Supervised Professional Practice. The participants were 61 pre-university students candidates to the engineering careers (28 men (45.9%) and 33 women (54.1%)) between 15 and 26 years old $(M_{age}=17.mathrm{S}2$, SD =1.76). One concludes that the mathematics test anxiety level is higher in women (Mean =4.30, p<.01) that in men (Mean =3.27, p<.01). Then, to men, the analysis of simple lineal regressions shows that the mathematics test anxiety predicts the math study anxiety ($beta=-.55, plt 01)$. And to women, the analysis of multiple lineal regressions shows that the mathematics test anxiety predicts negatively the academic mathematics performance $(beta=-.54, mathrm{p}lt .05)$, but math study anxiety does not predict the academic performance mathematics $(beta=-.39, mathrm{p}gt .05)$.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120966368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This oral communication will present an interdisciplinary effort carried out by four faculties of Engineering (2), Design (1), and Education (1) affiliated to a Southwest Colombian university. The interdisciplinary team has applied principles of service-learning as a pedagogical opportunity within curriculum experiences for different engineering majors. We will describe a methodology to a) identify the needs of a non-profit school for children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and/or cognitive disabilities; and, b) guide engineering students in designing and developing educational materials through interdisciplinary support from the leading faculty team. According to the needs identified, the students were able to create primarily analog solutions rather than digital ones.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132122823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, in this study, a survey was carried out to find out the perspectives about the content learned in their classes as well as the characteristics and the quality of the methodology followed in them. In addition to this, they were asked about the quality of the administrative services at the university. The results of our study show a general contentment as to how the programs are being currently handled. However, there are some details that need to be corrected in order to reach an optimal point in which future graduates are completely satisfied with both engineering programs.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130065048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the complexity of tasks such as citation and paraphrasing, a significant number of students incur in plagiarism either intentionally or unintentionally. In the present study the process of improvement in the elaboration of argumentative essays in a sample of Peruvian humanities students from a university located in the city of Lima is reported. The plagiarism detection software Turnitin was used as a feedback tool through the use of QuickMarks and text and voice comments. The results of this study have shown that it was possible to significantly reduce the most common types of plagiarism (Search and replacement, Remix and Mosaic); hence, obtaining essays with a greater degree of originality.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132573699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
