The resources that are required by higher education institutions for this purpose can be quite expensive. This article shows the strategies taken in a university of Lima city to include professionals with research experience abroad that can add to the development of the research skills of the local teachers from the engineering faculty and its students, thus, also bringing an improvement needed for obtaining their Bachelor Degrees. The results of these processes have been very important, there have been improvements in academic works (placed in the repository of the university), the incorporation of students of the last cycles in research projects running with competitive grants as well as their participation in international congresses; thus, improving their employability. All this has allowed the improvement in the performance of the graduation profile and has also strengthened the growth of the quality of the university (licensing of new careers and better positioning in the Scimago ranking).","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123256380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to develop in students, the skills to search for scientific and technological articles, and the critical skills to evaluate documents and extract the main ideas from them in relation to a particular topic, the SRAR method or specialized report review method has been proposed. It has been applied during five academic semesters in the electronic engineering telephone systems course, with satisfactory results. The SRAR method has six stages:1.Information of the SRAR method and proposed topic, 2. Initial bibliographic search, 3. Autonomous training, 4. Selection of articles for review, 5. Study and evaluation of articles 6. Writing of specialized report for review of articles.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115332946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, the progress regarding the implementation of embedded systems has reached superlative levels considering the characteristics and functionality that this offers. On this context, this work proposes the challenge of merging these techniques in just one application. To this effect, first, a state-of-art review on the field of therapies of teaching-stimulation is considered. Thereafter, using automatic learning techniques, data will be analyzed with the aim of proposing a stimulation technique which offers better results compared to the traditional techniques. This way, one of the proposed stimulation techniques based on an embedded system will be implemented and the application will be verified in therapy sessions with children. Finally, the results achieved will be compared to the revision made earlier to verify their performance.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115570854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, it is essential to develop skills to determine water quality according to local and international standards. This situation becomes a critic issue in students of environmental engineering and biotechnology careers. For these reasons, in this paper, we present an educational tool aimed at supporting the training process related to water quality determination and measurement in these students. Our system relies on a rules-based reasoning module and interactive web and mobile interfaces that provide several guidelines for students. We tested the tool with 37 students, and the obtained results show high levels of acceptance as well as an index of 0.87 on Cronbach’s alpha.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116544250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it is also expected that these technologies will lead to job displacement, alter skill profiles for existing jobs, and change how people work. Therefore, preparing the workforce for an economy defined by these technologies is imperative. This ongoing research focuses on developing an immersive learning training curriculum to prepare the future workforce of the building industry. In this paper we are demonstrating a prototype of a mobile AR application to deliver lessons for training in robotic automation for construction industry workers. The application allows a user to interact with a virtual robot manipulator to learn its basic operations. The goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of the AR application by gauging participants’ performance using pre and post surveys.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130240362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Internet of Things (IoT), Augmented Reality (AR) and Additive Manufacturing (AM) are key elements of Industry 4.0. Nowadays, jobs demand on engineer’s skills in such technologies. Unfortunately, in current academic programs the digital technologies of Industry 4.0 are not part of the curriculum yet. This paper shows how to incorporate IoT, AR and AM technologies into a pair of experiments of mechatronics laboratories, and therefore build industry 4.0 machines with the support of free and open resources. Two study cases are presented: an automotive transmission gearbox and an extruder machine. The experimentation demonstrates the feasibility of developing competencies during students’ hands-on activities, in the framework of the IoT, AR and AM, in a simple way and low cost.","PeriodicalId":191471,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE World Conference on Engineering Education (EDUNINE)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128875457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
