The radial- ray axis “Empire center - province” in “Revisor” and in “Petersburg’s novels” comes out as the intermediate space model between “Evenings…” and “Dead Souls”. But in the same works it was exposed because of the daemonic meanings of Petersburg, that came from “Evenings…”. In “Dead Souls”, however, the poles of the terrestrial-underground vertical were not the ancestor and the descendant, but the ideal essence of the world and its material shell.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128556605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

D. Balmont: the manifestation of divine will in the world created by God, the convergence of artistic creativity with Christian sacraments. The motives of world communion and “creative fire” are emphasized. The specificity and place of epiphanic motifs at different stages of the poet’s career are determined. The connections between the symbolist poet and the search for Russian religious and philosophical thought are made. The author traces the formation of the “creative fire” motive in the poetry of K. D. Balmont, associated with the disclosure of the theme of the world mystery and the understanding of the poet as an accomplice of Divine creation, and also emphasizes the way this motive would dominate in the final poetry book of the 1920s. “In the extended distance. Poem about Russia”.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124720413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The desire for bodily contact with the “other” world finds its expression in the verbal representation of touch or a kind of “haptic poetology”, the reflection of the verbal as partly tactile. The intensity of the representation of tactile sensations and their metaphorical use in Mandelstam’s poetry is unusual. The article analyzes various ways of his identification with both the lyrical heroes of Russian poets and the diseases of the poets themselves (A. A. Fet, F. I. Tyutchev, I. F. Annensky). In the poet’s articles, he attributes his own tactile attitude to the word to V. V. Rozanov, I. F. Annensky.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129988791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study describes the literary and biographical genealogy of the title character. The purpose of the work is to consider Alexander Chekhov, the writer’s elder brother, as a prototype that determines the profane component of Gusev’s image. The story is considered as a “literary gift” brought to Alexander Chekhov from Anton Pavlovich’s trip to Sakhalin. The significance of the genre originality of “Gusev” as a Christmas story is noted, bringing it closer to other similar works by Chekhov. The ambivalent nature of the title character is proved, which combines a dramatic beginning with a comic, travesty beginning. It is concluded that Gusev is an integral artistic image created by the creative activity of the author based on heterogeneous prototypes. The results of the study can be used in the practice of analyzing Chekhov’s prose, as well as in biographical works.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130777875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A. Nikiforov- Volgin’s story «Lightning of illumaning words» - dedicated to the subject of Church Slavonic language. The author’s text is filled with metaphors and similes related to the liturgical language of the Church. Imagery used as a means of expression can be found in both Church Slavonic chants cited by the characters and the narrator’s speech. Their basic purpose is to emphasize the esthetic aspect of Church Slavonic words. The literary images used for this purpose include lightning, light, jewels, gold, silver, water, weave, or a flower.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"21 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133529906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

FET. The dynamics of FET’s ecphrastic poetics is outlined: from poems tied to a specific work, based on the contradiction of statuarity/sculpture and its overcoming, to an archetypal plot endowed with «flickering» meanings. It is shown how, experimenting with an anthological genre, the frozen plasticity of which is associated with an unambiguous word, FET moves away from it to a suggestive word that reconstructs myth, fluctuating between understanding myth as a culture and myth as a reality, to a multidimensional whole, where the plot becomes an intersection of semantic fields.","PeriodicalId":187515,"journal":{"name":"Culture and Text","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115034202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
