Honey has been shown to have antibacterial properties, as well as low pH levels making environmental conditions unfavorable for bacterial growth. Clinical observations from human trials report that honey helps granulation tissue formation, increases epithelialization, and reduces inflammation which affects the acceleration of wound healing. The aims of this study is to determine the effect of honey toward wound healing. This study is in the form of a literature review. Literature is taken from one database, namely PubMed. The keywords used are honey and wound healing. After being selected by inclusion and exclusion criteria, ten literature will be reviewed. Honey gave good results and affected the healing of skin wounds, including several types of honey that were studied in experimental animals and in experimental people. In conclusion, honey has an effect on healing skin wounds.Key words: Honey, wound healing Abstrak: Penggunaan madu dalam perawatan luka telah digunakan sejak saat zaman kuno. Madu telah terbukti memiliki sifat antibakteri, juga kadar pH rendah membuat kondisi lingkungan yang tidak mendukung untuk pertumbuhan bakteri. Pengamatan klinis dari uji coba pada manusia melaporkan bahwa madu membantu pembentukan jaringan granulasi, meningkatkan epitelisasi, dan mengurangi peradangan yang mempengaruhi percepatan penyembuhan luka. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh madu terhadap penyembuhan luka. Penelitian ini dalam bentuk literature review. Literatur diambil dari satu database yaitu PubMed. Kata kunci yang digunakan yaitu honey and wound healing. Setelah diseleksi dengan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi didapatkan sepuluh literatur yang akan direview. Madu memberikan hasil yang baik dan berpengaruh terhadap penyembuhan luka kulit, di antaranya ada beberapa jenis madu yang diteliti pada hewan percobaan maupun pada orang coba. Everyone can be infected, one of them is pregnant women, pregnant women are susceptible to infection with this virus because of changes in the body's physiology that can impact on the immune system. This study aimed to find out the results of ALC and NLR in 3rd trimester pregnant women who were confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 at Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou. The study was conducted with a retrospective approach, using secondary data in the form of medical record status of 3rd trimester pregnant women who were confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 at RSUP Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou. From 26 pregnant women who were treated at Prof. Dr. R. Kandou from July to September 2020 found 22 patients (85%) with normal ALC and 4 patients (15%) had a decrease in ALC. For NLR, it was found that 16 patients (62%) had an NLR ≥ 3.13, and 10 patients (38%) had an NLR < 3.13. In conclusion, from 26 pregnant women who were treated in July-September 2020, the ALC results obtained were more patients with normal ALC levels, namely 22 patients (85%), while the NLR results obtained were more patients who had NLR ≥ 3.13, namely 16 patients (62%).Keywords: 3rd trimester pregnant women, SARS-CoV-2, Absolute Lymphocyte Count, Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio Abstrak: Penyakit yang baru saja ditemukan pada bulan Desember 2019 adalah COVID-19, penyakit ini disebabkan oleh Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Semua orang dapat terinfeksi salah satunya wanita hamil, wanita hamil rentan terinfeksi virus ini karena adanya perubahan fisiologi tubuh yang dapat berdampak pada sistem kekebalan tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hasil gambaran ALC dan NLR pada wanita hamil trimester 3 yang terkonfirmasi positif SARS-CoV-2 di RSUP Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan bersifat deskriptif dengan pendekatan retrospektif, yaitu menggunakan data sekunder berupa data dari status rekam medis pasien wanita hamil trimester 3 yang terkonfirmasi positif SARS-CoV-2 di RSUP Prof. Dr. R. D. Kandou. Dari 26 wanita hamil yang dirawat di RSUP Prof. Dr. R. Kandou periode Juli - September tahun 2020 didapatkan 22 pasien (85%) dengan ALC normal dan 4 pasien (15%) lainnya mengalami penurunan pada ALC. Untuk NLR didapatkan 16 pasien (62%) memiliki NLR ≥ 3,13, dan 10 pasien (38%) memiliki NLR < 3,13. The purpose of this research was to isolated alkaloid compounds also to tested the effectiveness of inhibition of the betel leaf extract against the Staphylococcus epidermidis bacterial growth. Simplicia betel leaf was extracted used 96% of ethanol solvent. Antibacterial activity tested of betel leaf extract with a concentration variation of 25%, 20%, 15%, 10% and 5% using the liquid dilution method. The results of identification of alkaloid isolates used UV-Vis Spectrophotometry method can be known alkaloid compounds contained in betel leaves include alkaloids with indole base framework that was absorption at 262 nm and 274 nm wavelengths. The results of the effectiveness of betel leaf on Bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis used the liquid dilution method showed that betel leaf extract with Optical density values at concentrations of 25%, 20%, 15% and 10% before and after incubation decreased respectively by -0.347, -0.304, -0.192 and -0.104, while at a concentration of 5% there was increase in Optical density values of 0.162. From the results of the research, it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of betel leaf contains an alkaloid with an indole base framework and was inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria with a MIC at a concentration of 10%.Keywords: betel leaf, Staphylococcus epidermidis, alkaloid compound, liquid dilution. Abstrak: Daun Sirih (Piper betle L) mengandung senyawa alkaloid dan memiliki fungsi sebagai antibakteri dan antiseptik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi senyawa alkaloid dan menguji efektivitas penghambatan dari ekstrak daun sirih hijau terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis. Simplisia daun sirih hijau diekstraksi dengan menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun sirih dengan variasi konsentrasi 25%, 20%, 15%, 10% dan 5% menggunakan metode dilusi cair. Hasil identifikasi terhadap isolat alkaloid menggunakan metode Spektrofotometri UV-Vis dapat diketahui senyawa alkaloid yang terkandung dalam daun sirih termasuk alkaloid dengan kerangka dasar Indol yang mempunyai serapan pada panjang gelombang 262 nm dan 274 nm. Hasil uji efektivitas daun sirih terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis dengan metode dilusi cair menunjukan bahwa ekstrak daun sirih dengan nilai densitas optik pada konsentrasi 25%, 20%, 15% dan 10% sebelum dan sesudah inkubasi mengalami penurunan berturut-turut sebesar -0.347, -0.304, -0.192 dan -0.104, sedangkan pada konsentrasi 5% mengalami kenaikan nilai densitas optik sebesar 0.162. Alkaloids are one of the secondary metabolites that are found in nature and have physiological activity. This study aims to determine the presence of alkaloid content in betel fruit and to determine the inhibitory activity of betel fruit extract against Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. This study is using the disc method in the antibacterial test, TLC method, color reaction and UV-Vis spectrophotometry to determine the presence of alkaloids in betel fruit. The results showed that betel extract contained alkaloids, as evidenced by the presence of orange stains on TLC with chloroform: methanol (1: 4) eluent sprayed with Dragendrof reagents. UV-Vis spectrophotometer analysis results, the alkaloids are at a maximum wavelength of 282 nm.The results of the antibacterial activity test of betel extract against Staphylococcus epidermidis shows that the concentration of 10% and 20% had a strong antibacterial activity with an average inhibition zone of 12.8 ± 1.40 mm and 15.03 ± 0.723 mm and a concentration of 40% had Antibacterial activity is very strong with an average inhibition zone of 21.53 ± 1.530 mm. In conclusion, betel fruit extract contains alkaloid compounds and has antibacterial activity with strong to very strong categories.Keywords: Betel Fruit (Piper betle L), Alkaloids, Antibacterial, Staphylococcus epidermidis. Abstrak: Buah sirih memiliki kandungan saponin, tanin, alkaloid, flavonoid, dan steroid yang merupakan senyawa antibakteri. Alkaloid merupakan salah satu metabolit sekunder yang banyak ditemukan di alam dan mempunyai aktivitas fisiologis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya kandungan alkaloid pada buah sirih dan untuk mengetahui adanya aktivitas daya hambat dari ekstrak buah sirih terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode cakram pada uji antibakteri, metode KLT, reaksi warna dan Spektrofotometri UV-Vis untuk mengetahui adanya alkaloid pada buah sirih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak buah sirih memiliki kandungan alkaloid, terbukti dengan adanya noda berwarna jingga pada KLT dengan eluen kloroform:methanol (1:4) yang disemprotkan pereaksi Dragendrof. Hasil analisis Spektrofotometer UV-Vis, alkaloid tersebut berada pada panjang gelombang maksimum 282 nm. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak buah sirih terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis diperoleh bahwa konsentrasi 10% dan 20% memiliki aktivitas antibakteri kuat dengan zona hambat rata-rata sebesar 12,8±1,40 mm dan 15,03±0,723 mm serta konsentrasi 40% memiliki aktivitas antibakteri sangat kuat dengan zona hambat rata-rata sebesar 21,53±1,530 mm. Risk management is one of the systems for preventing and reducing risks. In the implementation of risk management, the use of HIRARC is one of the methods to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and risk control. In the maintenance process of container crane and rubber-tired gantries, potential hazards may occur. The research aims to identify hazards, conduct a risk assessment, and recommend the risk control on the maintenance activities of the container crane and rubber-tired gantries. The study uses qualitative methods with information sources namely: corporate leaders, K3 experts, supervision, and worker technicians. Qualitative data is obtained based on the results of in-depth interview and site observation. The research shows that there are eight job processes with several hazards identified in the maintenance process of container crane and rubber-tired gantries, namely mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fire hazards, physical hazards, and chemical hazards. The hazards were at the low-risk to high-risk level. It is necessary to apply risk management using the HIRARC method as an evaluation system in risk control.Keywords: risk management, HIRARC, maintenance container crane and rubber-tyred gantries Abstrak: Kecelakaan kerja di Indonesia terus mengalami peningkatan setiap tahun, sehingga membutuhkan penerapan manajem risiko yang bertujuan untuk mencegah dan mengurangi risiko. Metode HIRARC menjadi salah satu cara untuk dapat mengidentifikasi bahaya, melakukan penilaian risiko dan pengendalian risiko pada tindakan pemeliharaan alat container crane dan rubber tyred gantriesyang proses pekerjaannya menghasilkan potensi bahaya dan risiko. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui identifikasi bahaya, melakukan penilaian risiko dan mengetahui pengendalian risiko pada tindakan pemeliharaan alat container crane dan rubber tyred gantries. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan sumber informasi: Pemimpin perusahaan, ahli K3, supervisi dan pekerja teknisi. Data kualitatif diperoleh berdasarkan hasil wawancara mendalam dengan menggunakan model analisis data Mile dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukan terdapat delapan proses pekerjaan dengan bahaya yang teridentifikasi pada tindakan pemeliharaan alat container crane dan rubber tyred gantries yaitu bahaya mekanik, bahaya elektrik, bahaya kebakaran, bahaya fisik dan bahaya kimia dengan penilaian risiko berada pada tingkatan risiko rendah sampai risiko tinggi. There are several factors that play some important roles in the occurence of caries, as follows: microorganism, host, food, and time. Streptococcus mutans is one of the microorganisms that cause caries. Squid ink contains melanin which has an active compound to inhibit microbial activity. This study was aimed to determine the inhibitory effect of squid ink extract (Loligo sp) on the growth of Streptococcus mutans. This was a laboratory experimental study, with a post test only control group design. The results showed that the mean diameter of the inhibitory zones of the squid ink extract (Loligo sp) was 10.50 mm which was categorized as strong inhibition (Davis and Stout criteria). In conclusion, the squid ink extract (Loligo sp) had a strong inhibitory effect on the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria.Keywords: squid ink extract (Loligo sp), Streptococcus mutans, zone of inhibitionAbstrak: Karies gigi merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Indonesia. Faktor-faktor penyebab karies gigi yaitu mikroba, pejamu, makanan, dan waktu. Salah satu mikroba penyebab karies ialah bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Tinta cumi-cumi mengandung melanin yang memiliki senyawa aktif untuk menghambat aktivitas mikroba. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak tinta cumi-cumi (Loligo sp) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Jenis penelitian ialah eksperimental laboratorik, dengan post test only control group design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan diameter rerata zona hambat dari ekstrak tinta cumi-cumi (Loligo sp) sebesar 10,50 mm dan digolongkan dalam kategori kuat (kriteria Davis dan Stout). Decayed tooth allows the entrance of germs that can cause infection in other organs. Moreover, tooth plays some important role in supporting one’s self-confidence. Plaque is a soft deposit that forms biofilm and not be mineralized. It is attached to the tooth surface or to other hard surfaces in the oral cavity. This study was aimed to obtain the oral dental health behavior and the plaque index among students at SD Katolik Wori (elementary school). This was a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. The study population consisted of students of grades 3, 4, and 5. Repsondents were 48 students obtained by using total sampling method. Data were obtained by using oral dental health questionnaire and plaque index examination form. The results showed that the respondents’ behavior towards maintaining oral dental health was good with the scoring of 1266. The plaque indexes of 48 respondents were categorized, as follows: 0 (0%), very good; 10 (20.83%), good; 36 (75%), moderate; and 2 (4.17%) poor. In conclusion, oral dental health behavior of students at SD Katolik Wori was good and their plaque index was categorized as moderate.Keywords: oral dental health behavior, plaque index Abstrak: Salah satu faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap kesehatan termasuk kesehatan gigi mulut yaitu faktor perilaku. Gigi yang sakit merupakan pintu masuk kuman penyakit yang dapat menimbulkan infeksi pada organ tubuh lainya. Gigi juga merupakan salah satu penunjang rasa percaya diri yang paling utama. Plak adalah deposit lunak yang membentuk biofilm, tidak termineralisasi, dan menempel pada permukaan gigi atau permukaan keras lain dalam rongga mulut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran perilaku pemeli-haraan kesehatan gigi mulut dan indeks plak siswa SD Katolik Wori. Jenis penelitian ialah deskriptif dengan desain potong lintang. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari siswa SD Katolik Wori kelas 3, 4 dan 5. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 48 diambil dengan metode total sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner perilaku kesehatan gigi mulut dan formulir pemeriksaan indeks plak. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa perilaku siswa terhadap pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi mulut tergolong baik dengan hasil skoring 1266. Indeks plak dari 48 responden ialah 0 (0%), kategori sangat baik; 10 (20,83%), kategori baik; 36 (75%), kategori sedang; dan 2 (4,17%) kategori buruk. This study was aimed to obtain the hygiene sanitation of restaurants at Sendangan, Kawangkoan. This was a descriptive study. The population consisted of all restaurants located at Sendangan. Food sanitation hygiene in this study was according to Kepmenkes RI No. 1098/MENKES/SK/VII/2003. The results showed that there were six restaurants involved in this study. The scores of restaurant hygiene and sanitation for location and buildings showed one restaurant with a total score of 38 (not fulfilled the requirements); 66 for sanitation facilities in the restaurants (did not meet the requirements); 38 for kitchen, dining room, and food storage warehouse, meanwhile 110 for food and ready-made food (eligible); 10 for food processing (did not meet the requirements); 58 for storage of food and ready-made food at one dining house (not fulfilled the requirements); 40 for serving meals at all restaurants (fulfilled the requirements); 45 for the equipment in all restaurants (eligible); 14 for the workers at the restaurant (did not meet the requirements). In conclusion, most of the restaurant fulfilled the requirement on food ingredients, cooked food, as well as food serving and utilities.Keywords: hygiene, sanitation, restaurants Abstrak: Sanitasi makanan adalah salah satu usaha pencegahan yang menitik beratkan pada kegiatan dan tindakan untuk membebaskan makanan dan minuman dari segala bahaya yang dapat menganggu kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui higiene sanitasi rumah makanan di Kelurahan Sendangan Kecamatan Kawangkoan. Jenis penelitian ialah deskriptif. Populasi ialah seluruh rumah makan yang berada di Kelurahan Sendangan. Higiene sanitasi makanan ialah menurut Kepmenkes RI N0.1098/MENKES/SK/VII/2003. Terdapat enam rumah makan yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini. Hasil skor higiene dan sanitasi rumah makan pada lokasi dan bangunan rumah makan mendapatkan satu rumah makan dengan skor total berjumlah 38 (tidak memenuhi syarat); fasilitas sanitasi rumah makan berjumlah 66 (tidak memenuhi syarat); dapur, ruang makan dan gudang bahan makanan berjumlah 38, bahan makanan dan makanan jadi berjumlah 110 (memenuhi syarat); pengolahan makanan rumah makan berjumlah 10 (tidak memenuhi syarat); penyimpanan bahan makanan dan makanan jadi pada satu rumah makan berjumlah 58 (tidak memenuhi syarat); penyajian makanan 40 di semua rumah makan (memenuhi syarat); peralatan terdapat di semua rumah makan berjumlah 45 (memenuhi syarat); dan tenaga kerja pada rumah makan berjumlah 14 (tidak memenuhi syarat). Albeit, the most widely used today is mouthwash containing clorhexidine that has side effects in prolonged use. Therefore, it is necessary to find new agents as an alternative antibacterial, especially against Staphylococcus aureus. Squid ink is one of the best known seafood used as alternative medicine which has a wide range of therapeutic applications. This study was aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effect of squid ink extract (Loligo sp) on the growth of S. aureus. This was a true experimental study with a post test only control group design. We used modified Kirby-Bauer method using filter papers. Ciprofloxacin antibacterial was used as the positive control and aquadest as the negative control. Extract of squid ink (Loligo sp) and stock of pure bacteria S. aureus bacteria were prepared. The results showed that mean of zone of inhibition of the squid ink extract (Loligo sp) was 11.22 mm which was less than the zone of inhibition of ciprofloxacin. In conclusion, the squid ink extract (Loligo sp) had a moderate inhibitory effect (Himedia category) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.Keywords: extract of squid ink (Loligo sp), Staphylococcus aureus, inhibitory effectAbstrak: Salah satu cara penanganan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dalam rongga mulut ialah dengan menggunakan obat kumur. Yang banyak digunaakan saat ini yaitu obat kumur yang mengandung clorhexidine dengan efek samping bila digunakan secara berkepanjangan. Oleh karena itudiperlukan penelitian terhadap agen baru sebagai alternatif antibakteri khususnya terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Tinta cumi-cumi merupakan salah satu hasil laut yang dikenal dalam dunia pengobatan alternatif serta memiliki jangkauan yang luas pada aplikasi terapeutik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak tinta cumi-cumi (Loligo sp) terhadap pertumuhan bakteri S. aureus. Jenis penelitian ialah eksperimental murni dengan post test only control group design. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode modifikasi Kirby-Bauer dengan menggunakan kertas saring. Kontrol positif menggunakan antibakteri siprofloksasin dan kontrol negatif menggunakan akuades. Pada penelitian ini digunakan ekstrak tinta cumi-cumi (Loligo sp) dan stok bakteri murni S. aureus. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan bahwa diameter rerata zona hambat dari ekstrak tinta cumi-cumi (Loligo sp) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri S. aureus sebesar 11,22 mm namun diameter tersebut lebih kecil daripada diameter zona hambat siprofloksasin. This study was aimed to determine the prevention and control of cross infection in dental extractions at the Dentistry Clilnic of Rumah Sakit Pancaran Kasih Manado. This was a descriptive observational study with a cross sectional design. There were 35 subjects in this study obtained by using purposive sampling method. Data were obtained by using a checklist. The results showed that the prevention and control of cross- infection before dental extraction achieved 46,07%; during dental extraction 59.92%; and after dental extraction 23,81%. The mean achievement for dental extraction was 60.59%. It is concluded that the prevention and control of cross-infection in dental extraction at the Dentistry Clinic of Rumah Sakit Pancaran Kasih Manado was below maximum level.Keywords: prevention and control of cross-infection, tooth extractionAbstrak: Salah satu tindakan medis di bidang kedokteran gigi yang mempunyai risiko tinggi terjadinya infeksi silang ialah tindakan ekstraksi gigi karena pada saat pelaksanaannya banyak berkontak dengan darah, saliva, dan instrumen berkategori kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran tindakan pencegahan dan pengendalian infeksi pada tindakan ekstraksi gigi di Poliklinik Gigi Rumah Sakit Pancaran Kasih Manado. Jenis penelitian ialah deskriptif observasional dengan desain potong lintang. Jumlah subyek sebanyak 35 pasien, diperoleh menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan lembar checklist. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencegahan dan pengen-dalian infeksi silang sebelum tindakan ekstraksi gigi sebesar 46,07%; selama tindakan sebesar 59,92%; dan setelah tindakan sebesar 23,81%. Hasil rerata keseluruhan tindakan ekstraksi gigi dilakukan sebesar 60,59%.
