Covid-19 has been declared a pandemic by the WHO, where the scale of the spread of the disease occurs globally. Azithromycin alone and its combination with hydroxychloroquine has been proposed as a treatment that can improve the prognosis of COVID-19. The purpose of this review is to determine the use of doses and how long azithromycin is active in COVID-19 patients. This research method uses a literature review of articles through internet searches by accessing the database from the google scholar site, pubmed. The object of this research is a scientific article published in the period 2017-2021 and relates to the effectiveness of azithromycin as a therapy to treat Covid-19 infection in humans. The results of the literature study show that Azithromycin has the potential as a therapy in COVID-19 patients, either alone or in combination. The average duration of azithromycin administration was 5 days, of which 500 mg was the loading dose followed by 250 mg for the next 4 days. The effectiveness of Azithromycin either alone or in combination with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) showed effectiveness in reducing viral load where the decline began on day 6 and complete recovery of the patient was achieved on day 10 to day 12. The conclusion of this study is that Azithromycin has the potential as a therapy in COVID-19 patients, either alone or in combination.","PeriodicalId":17631,"journal":{"name":"Journal Pharmasci (Journal of Pharmacy and Science)","volume":"13 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91495271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Formalin is used by irresponsible traders as a food preservative because it is cheap and easy to use. Therefore, efforts are needed to reduce the formalin content in food, one of which is by using natural ingredients such as aloe vera. Based on research, aloe vera contains saponins that can be used to reduce the formaldehyde content in food. This study aims to find out the concentration of aloe vera solution that can provide the largest reduction in formalin levels in samples of formalized chicken meat. The methods used in this study have three stages. The first stage is to soak the chicken meat in a 0.1% formalin solution for 1 hour then filtered to get samples of formalized chicken meat. The second stage is to soak samples of formalized chicken meat in a solution of aloe vera reduction with concentrations of 0, 30, 60, and 90% for 1 hour then filtered to get the filtrate. The third stage is to analyze the immersion filtrate using the UV-Vis Spectrophotometer to find out what the remaining formalin levels are in the chicken meat. The result of this study was that the higher the concentration of aloe vera solution, the greater the decrease in formalin content in the sample. The largest decrease in formalin content was obtained from soaking aloe vera solution with a concentration of 90%, which can reduce formalin by 29,87%.","PeriodicalId":17631,"journal":{"name":"Journal Pharmasci (Journal of Pharmacy and Science)","volume":"232 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76975532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Phytoestrogens are compound that has structure and function similar to 17β-estradiol, the most potent natural form of estrogen. Semanggi (Marsilea crenata Presl.) is known to contain phytoestrogens which can replace the function of 17β-estradiol in maintaining organ homeostasis, so that is potential to be developed as an anti-neuroinflammatory drug. This study was aimed to prove the anti-neuroinflammatory effect of the n-hexane and ethyl acetate fraction of Semanggi leaves on HMC3 microglia cells, by measuring the expression of major histocompatibility complex II (MHC II). Both fractions with a concentration of 62.5; 125; and 250 μg/ml were administered to HMC3 microglia cells which had been induced by interferon gamma (IFN-γ) for 24 hours. Measurement of MHC II expression were using immunocytochemistry (ICC) methods and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) instruments. The results showed that n-hexane fraction could reduce MHC II expression at concentrations of 250 μg/ml with p<0.05, and showed a non-monotonic dose response (NMDR) pattern, while ethyl acetate fraction could reduce MHC II expression at all concentrations with p<0.05. Based on the results of the correlation test, the best anti-neuroinflammatory activity on HMC3 microglia cells is showed by the ethyl acetate fraction of Semanggi leaves.","PeriodicalId":17631,"journal":{"name":"Journal Pharmasci (Journal of Pharmacy and Science)","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85561054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Formulated products in instant powder drinks can increase public consumption interest. This study aimed to formulate an instant powder functional beverage from single-bulb black garlic combined with rosella flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) using the foam mat drying method. Egg white is used as a foaming agent and methylcellulose as a foam stabilizer. The formula consisted of single-bulb black garlic powder, rosella flower powder, powder combination of single-bulb black garlic, and rosella flower (30:70) and (50:50). The color, smell, taste, and water content of the four formulas have met the quality standard of SNI 01-4320-1996. DPPH free radical scavenging test with parameter IC50 showed that the combination powder of single-bulb black garlic and rosella flower (30:70) had higher antioxidant activity than the other combination (50:50). Positive control and negative control used ceftriaxone disc 30 µg the inhibition zone diameter was obtained 18,1 mm and the disc paper was dripped with sterile aquadest. This is because the amount of ceftriaxone injection test substance in the disk is greater than the positive control ceftriaxone level. In the test sample there are 1000 µg/disc while the positive control had 30 µg/disc, it means that the number of Ceftriaxone test substances was 33,3 time greater than the positive control.
