It is found that the number of nonrandom eigenvalues is more than the developed markets' through the random matrix theory (RMT) analysis. It is also found that the eigenvector components corresponding to the largest eigenvalue cannot be regarded as describing a broad ‘index’ composed of all the stocks as usual. And the analysis of inverse participation ratio (IPR) also proved the above conclusion. Its IPR values are in noise level in the high frequency region.","PeriodicalId":170838,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on IT in Medicine and Education","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133319377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is the first time that a β-glucuronidase gene was cloned from Penicillium purpurogenum (pgus, Genbank Accession NO. EU095019). Sequence analysis indicated that pgus has 1815 base pairs, encoding 604 amino acids with the potential molecular weight of 66.7 kDa and 4 potential N-glycosylation sites. The pgus gene was successfully expressed as a functional protein (PGUS-P) in Pichia pastoris GS115. The optimal reaction temperature and pH of PGUS-P were 37.5 °C and pH5.2, respectively. While higher thermal and pH stability were observed in PGUS-P. The Km and Vmax values of PGUS-P for glycyrrhizin ammonium salt (GL) were 0.48 mM and 0.133 mM/min, respectively. The research also showed that the Mg2+, Mn2+ and Na+ have activation effect, while Ag+ and SDS has inhibition effect on the activity of catalyst. In addition, the mature PGUS-P protein exhibited a molecular mass of approximately 90 kDa on SDS-PAGE, which is much higher than its theoretical value. The results revealed that the recombinant PGUS-P may be partly N-glycosylated.","PeriodicalId":170838,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on IT in Medicine and Education","volume":"27 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131268638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In an ongoing prospective observational study to evaluate the effect of CRT (Cardiac resynchronization therapy) for heart failure patients, it is desired that two groups of patients (CRT treatment group and Non-CRT treatment group) were matched into pairs when being registered, and only matched patients were followed up so as to reduce the overall costs. We developed a registering and matching system to meet this requirement. Heart Failure Patients' data were collected from 44 centers by an internet-based system prospectively. 11 potential confounding variables, ranked from 2 to 3 levels, were included in this study. 5 variables were matched absolutely, while 6 others were matched by an “unbalance score”. Patients from each group respectively with the minimum difference were matched within a pre-defined threshold. The matching was done automatically by database system at every night. Unmatched patients who had been registered over 4 weeks were no longer eligible for matching. After 28 months, 478 patients were registered and 206 were matched. After matching, the balance of the covariates between two groups was improved. Alternatives of matching methods are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":170838,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on IT in Medicine and Education","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114436693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During inflammation, E-selectin plays an important role in recruiting leukocytes to the site of injury. In humans, E-selectin is encoded by the SELE gene. To better understand the expression and regulation of E-selectin gene, we analyzed the protein structure of E-selectin in human and molecular evolution of its gene in 9 vertebrate animals with bioinformatic softwares and network resources. Results showed that E-selectin is an unstable hydrophilic membrane protein with only one transmembrane domain as well as a signal peptide. The secondary structure is composed of α-helix (11.31%), extended strand (25.74%), and random coil (62.95%). The molecular evolution analysis revealed that the 9 vertebrates were divided into two major branches, one of which includes Bos Taurus, Ovis aries, Odocoileus hemionus, Sus scrofa, Canis Iupus familiaris, Equus caballus and the other is for Homo sapiens, Mus musculus, and Rattus norvegicus. This phylogenetic tree was consistent well with recognized evolutionary relationship among these species. In this research, we investigated the basic protein structure and molecular evolution of E-selectin in Homo sapiens, which will help us to understand how diseases and infection can be controlled in molecular level, and to develop specific drugs based on this knowledge.","PeriodicalId":170838,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on IT in Medicine and Education","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114466109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system consists of some novel dry skin electrodes, an ECG monitoring circuit and a smart phone. The weak ECG signals extracted from the dry electrode can be amplified, band-pass filtered, analog-digital converted and so on. Finally it is sent to the mobile phone by Bluetooth technology for real-time display on screen. The core ECG monitoring circuit is composed of a CMOS preamplifier ASIC designed by ourselves, a band-pass filter, a microcontroller and a Bluetooth module. The volume is 5.5 cm × 3.4 cm × 1.6 cm, weight is only 20.76 g (without batteries), and power consumption is 115 mW. The tests show that the system can operate steadily, precisely and display the ECG in real time.","PeriodicalId":170838,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on IT in Medicine and Education","volume":"69 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116378551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Preliminary studies on the algicidal effects of one aqueous and four organic solvent extracts from C. pilulifera on the P. micans were carried out to confirm the existence of allelochemicals in the tissues of the macroalga. The results of the microcosm assay showed that the growth of P. micans was strongly inhibited by using fresh tissues and dry powder of the three macroalgae, the inhibitory effect of C. pilulifera is the best. Both aqueous and methanol extracts of C. pilulifera had strong growth inhibitory effects on P. micans, while the other three organic solvent extracts (acetone, ether and chloroform) had no apparent effect on its growth, this suggested that the allelochemicals from C. pilulifera had relatively high polarities. The dry powder of C. pilulifera was extracted with methanol, and the methanol extracts were partitioned to petroleum ether phase, ethyl acetate phase, butanol phase and distilled phase by liquid-liquid fractionation. The bioassays of the activity of every fraction were carried out on P. micans, indicated that petroleum ether phase and ethyl acetate phase had strong algicidal effect on P. micans.","PeriodicalId":170838,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Symposium on IT in Medicine and Education","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121986563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
