As such a study had never been undertaken, the aim of this research is to determine the percentage of patients with dengue severe form and the risk factors associated with this adverse disease progression. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in 2020 and involved the archival records of 257 patients whose Clinical Record Forms (CRFs) indicated that they had contracted dengue fever (as confirmed by their laboratory findings) during the July−September 2019 dengue outbreak in Dhaka. In accordance with Bangladesh's National Dengue Guidelines, individuals in whom severe plasma leakage, severe bleeding requiring intervention, and/or severe organ involvement was noted, were classified as having had severe dengue form. Results: Severe dengue fever affected approximately 50% of the sample population of this study. Multivariate regression model indicated that its prevalence was greater among females (OR = 2.07, 95% CI = 1.16−3.74), as well as patients with joint pain (OR = 2.31, 95% CI = 1.34−3.99), bleeding history (OR = 2.71, 95% CI = 1.40−5.24), and a platelet count < 10,000/cumm (OR = 4.18, 95% CI = 1.41−12.41). Conclusion: In the analyzed sample, dengue fever typically manifested as body aches, vomiting, and headache, as was more likely to progress to the severe form if a patient was female, had a history of bleeding, and had a platelet count below 10,000/cumm. These findings could help physicians manage severe dengue fever more promptly and effectively.","PeriodicalId":170809,"journal":{"name":"Tạp chí Y tế Công cộng","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126733949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: This study aimed to describe the vaccine confidence and attitudes towards COVID-19 vaccination in Vietnam, and explore factors associated with vaccine confidence among Vietnamese adults. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 725 adults in Hanoi, Vietnam. Data was collected online by KoboToolbox and Google Forms and then analyzed by Stata 14 software. ANOVA test, t-test and Poisson regression were applied to examine the difference between participants with different characteristics and identify factors associated with level of vaccine confidence. Results: Among 725 respondents, the majority were from the Kinh ethnic group, stated no religion, were child-free and had a university education . Nearly 50% of participants were unsure about having COVID-19 vaccination and worried about vaccine complications that might happen to them and their families. Vaccine confidence score was significantly higher in single, child-free, lower-monthly-income respondents and people who sought information about COVID-19 vaccination (p-value < 0.05). Among people seeking information about the vaccine, the Internet and social media were the most frequently used sources of information. Factors associated with the vaccine confidence score include gender, ethnic group, religion, number of children, monthly income and information-seeking behavior towards vaccination. Conclusion: This study contributes insight in the early stages of similar situations occurring in the future when responding to epidemics without a vaccine. In order to improve vaccine confidence of the public, it is important to affirm the efficacy and safety, and control the spread of fake news and disinformation about the vaccine.","PeriodicalId":170809,"journal":{"name":"Tạp chí Y tế Công cộng","volume":"465 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130069525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, after experiencing four waves of epidemics, there was a certain proportion of healthcare workers who have ever been diagnosed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2, regardless of whether they have a history of contact with or an unknown history of contact with an unidentified source of infection. This research aimed to identify the characteristics of healthcare workers who have not diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 or have never been infected by SARS-CoV-2. 79 staffs of Hanoi Medical University were selected at the time of April 2022. 16 out of 79 individuals were infected with SARS-CoV-2 but had not been identified. 50% of this group were physicians working at primary care unit. Subjects who had been infected by SARS-CoV-2 showed greater levels of anti-receptor-binding domain (RBD) of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies than those who had never been infected (p=0.001). Anti-RBD antibody levels in 93.67% of research individuals were above the FDA-recommended threshold of 4.8 U/mL for the use of convalescent plasma. In the group that had never been infected by SARS-CoV-2, the antibody levels against RBD-SARS-CoV-2 were lower in those vaccinated above 90 days than those vaccinated below 90 days (p=0.02). 20.25% of research subjects who had never been diagnosed had infected by SARS-CoV-2, with greater levels of anti-RBD-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies than the uninfected group. In the uninfected group, antibody levels gradually decreased over time.","PeriodicalId":170809,"journal":{"name":"Tạp chí Y tế Công cộng","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123900265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aims to investigate knowledge, attitude, and willingness to donate organs and its associated factors among students of Hue University. A cross-sectional descriptive study design was performed on 1244 students from April 2020 to October 2020. Direct interviews were used to collect the data based on a structured questionnaire. We found that 41% of students were classified as having good knowledge, and 57.5% had. a positive attitude. The mean score (±SD) of knowledge and attitude were 8.7±2.4 and 5.6±1.9, respectively. Nearly 1 in 4 students (24.6%) accepted in principle the donation of organs after death/brain death, but only 2.1% of students agreed to sign the resisted form for tissue donation, human organs. The multivariate logistics regression analysis indicated that age knowledge and attitude were significantly correlated to participants' willingness to donate organs. The older students, with adequate knowledge, and a positive attitude were more likely to accept donated organs, with an adjusted Odd ratio (ORadj) of 1.67, 1.68, and 8.25, respectively.
