Abstract
Objectives: This study aimed to (1) Describe the status of contraceptive use among married Khmer women aged 18-49 in Binh Minh district, Vinh Long province; and (2) Determine some related factors to contraceptive use among those women. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study using quantitative research method. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with a total of 370 married Khmer women aged 18-49 by a structured questionnaire in Binh Minh district. The study period was from August 2020 to June 2021. The descriptive statistics and odd ratio and confidence interval of 95% were used to analyze the related factors to contraceptive use of those women. Result: The percentage of married Khmer women aged 18-49 using contraceptives accounted for 62.2%, of which, modern contraceptives were 91.7% and traditional contraceptives were 8.3%. The most commonly used modern contraceptive is the oral contraceptive pill, accounting for 68.7%. The age group applying contraceptives the most is 35-49. Married Khmer women with age above 35 years old, higher secondary education, occupation of farming or hired freelance, no religion or desire to have 2 or less children were more likely to use the contraception. These differences were statistically significant with p<0,05.
