In this study, to reveal the plant's pharmacological importance, its ability to inhibit some medicinal enzymes was examined, assisted by molecular docking studies and phytochemical component analysis. The IC50 values for studied enzymes were calculated between 0.434 - 92.81 μg/mL, and the extract has lower inhibitory concentrations against α-glucosidase, α-amylase, and HMG_CoA reductase involved in carbohydrate and cholesterol metabolism. In addition, reverse-phase HPLC analysis was performed to correlate the enzyme inhibition ability with phenolic compositions. Benzoic acid and methyl chavicol were detected as the most abundant ingredients with the amount of 204.50±2.23 and 93.18±1.01 μg g-1, respectively. TPC and TFC of the extract were founded at 31.23 ± 0.56 GAE/g and 5.54 ± 0.11 QE/g, respectively. The extract showed inhibitory and lethal effects, especially against all tested gram-negative strains at 7.5 and 15 mg mL-1, respectively. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that S. resinosum extract harbors bioactive compounds with inhibitory properties such as benzoic acid and catechin. It is expected that these primary data on the S. resinosum may contribute to building new experimental studies to open new avenues for research to support the pharmacological effects. In the present work, the chemical compositions of essential oils (EOs) from M. caudata leaves and rhizomes and their antimicrobial activities were reported for the first time. The gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analytical results revealed that α-pinene, β-pinene, and camphene were the most abundant components in both EO samples. Specifically, the leaves EO contained 27.61% of α-pinene, 21.29% of β-pinene, and 8.62% of camphene while the figures for the rhizomes EO were 10.37%, 9.69%, and 12.1%, respectively. The EOs were also shown to exhibit strong antimicrobial activities against several pathogenic bacterial and fungal strains with MIC values ranging from 8-128 μg/mL, with the most potent activity against Enterococcus faecalis (8 μg/mL). The present study describes the chemical composition and the antifungal activity of the EO of Ballota hirsuta aerial parts for the first time. Forty-three constituents were identified by gas chromatography (GC-FID and GC-MS), which the main ones are germacrene-D (16%), Z-phytol (7.7%), α-cadinol (7.3%) and carvacrol (6.7%). The EO's antifungal activity against two pathogenic fungi of apples, such as Botrytis cinerea and Penicillium expansum, was evaluated in vitro using poisoned food (PF) and volatile assay (VA) techniques. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of this oil was 2000 ppm against the two isolates tested when using PF technique, while, using the VA assay, the MICs were 1000 and 2000 ppm for B. cinerea and P. expansum, respectively. The production of fungal spores was completely inhibited at 1000 ppm for B. cinerea using the VA test and at 2000 ppm for both phytopathogens when using the PF technique. In addition, a molecular docking study was performed to predict the inhibitory activities of the main bioactive compounds of EO against the biosynthesis of 14 alpha-sterol demethylase enzymes (PDB ID: 1EA1). The docked complexes were tested to check their stability by a 50 ns molecular dynamics simulation. This thyme is rich in various bioactive compounds including polyphenols, and its intake would prevent several diseases, including hyperlipidemia and related disorders. This study aimed to evaluate the antioxidant activity using in-vitro tests and the hypolipidemic potential of the aqueous extract of this thyme using tyloxapol-induced hyperlipidemia in the guinea pig model. We found that T. munbyanus aqueous extract exhibited great hypolipidemic potential by lowering elevated levels of cholesterol (-50.64 %) and triglycerides (-80.36 %). Additionally, the extract of this thyme revealed significant amounts of total phenolic compounds (140.36 GAE mg/gE) including flavonoids (111.98 RE mg/gE), and exerts good antioxidant activity (DPPH IC50 = 0.43 mg/mL). We conclude that T. munbyanus aqueous extract is rich in antioxidant phytochemicals and its supplementation can be a useful natural treatment for the management of hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular disease. A methanolic extract of L. schottii was analyzed by mass spectrometry (ESI-IT-MSn and APCI-IT-MSn) to determine the profile of bioactive compounds. The antimicrobial potential was assayed by the microdilution broth method. The effect of the extract on motility was also determined. Quorum sensing systems were evaluated using a biosensor with Chromobacterium violaceum. The prevention of biofilm formation and biofilm remotion were analyzed by the crystal violet method. The chemical analysis allows to identify 8 phenolic compounds, 2 alkaloids and 1 triterpene, most of these reported for the first time to this plant. L. schottii extract showed inhibitory and bactericidal activity against uropathogenic E. coli (MIC= 6.5 mg/mL and CMB= 13 mg/mL). In addition, the effect of L. schottii on motility was observed, since the concentration of 6.5 mg/mL reduced this process by 60%. With regard to the inhibition of the Quorum sensing system, L. schottii (6.5 mg/mL) reduce the production of violacein in 45%. The same concentration of the extract (6.5 mg/mL) resulted the most effective to prevent biofilm formation in 65%. Regarding the biofilm remotion the higher tested concentration (3 MIC) was the most effective, removing 84% of biomass. The results showed that L. schottii has a variety of bioactive compounds and antimicrobial and antibiofilm potential against uropathogenic E. coli. Analysis using headspace-solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME)/Gas chromatography (GC)/GC-Mass spectrometry (MS) indicated that the samples presented different chemical profiles. The main components of spring maquis honey are 4-propylanisol (14.7%) and p-anisaldehyde (11.7%). For autumn maquis honey, they are isophorone (34.8%) and 3,4,5-trimethylphenol (27.1%), and for spring honey, they are phenylacetaldehyde (15.8%) and (2R, 2’S, 5’S)-lilac aldehyde (10.1%). For blended honey, they are 3-furaldehyde (13.9%) and 4-propylanisol (10.8%), and for summer maquis honey, they are phenylacetaldehyde (33.6%) and benzaldehyde (9.1%). All the types of honey studied showed antioxidant activity in the three tests studied. The most potent honey in the DPPH test (IC50 = 73.69 µg/mL), the reducing iron test (IC50 = 45.12 µg/mL), and the β-carotene test (IC50 = 53.80 µg/mL) was autumn scrub honey. All the types of honey studied have inhibitory capacities on acetylcholinesterase and tyrosinase. Our study found that corsican honey is a rich source of organic compounds that could positively impact health. Rauschert is widely used in herbal teas and cosmetics given its outstanding antioxidant properties. Two released cultivars of German chamomile viz. ‘CIM-Sammohak’ and ‘CIM-Ujjwala’ were chemically profiled to investigate the constitutional makeup of their aerial parts, flowers, leaves, and roots collected during the flowering season. The whole aerial part and then the aerial part inclusive of flowers harvested 50 cm above ground level were investigated separately to note the differences in the chemical composition due to the flowers. The oils from the flowers of CIM-Sammohak were also chemically distinguished using hydro distillation and steam distillation methods. α-bisabolone oxide A, α-bisabolol oxide A, and α-bisabolol oxide B were higher in the flowers using hydro distillation method while the concentrations of α-(E, E)-farnesene, germacrene D, and (E)-β-farnesene increased on using steam distillation technique for flowers essential oil extraction. α-bisabolol oxide A (0.1 %-41.9 %), α-bisabolone oxide A (2.1%-28.3%), (E)-β-farnesene (1.0%-39.6%), and α-bisabolol oxide B (1.5 %-16.6 %) were identified to be the major compounds in all the oils of CIM-Sammohak whereas the oils of CIM-Ujjwala revealed entirely different composition dominant of acetylenic molecules viz. (2Z,8Z)-matricaria ester (60.1%-81.9%) and (2E,8Z)-matricaria ester (1.5%-7.2%). The flower yield of CIM- Sammohak was higher compared to CIM-Ujjwala; and it is highly demanded in the market for its dry flower and essential oils. However, the CIM-Ujjwala is suitable as source of bioactive (2Z,8Z)-matricaria ester useful in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. A novel antibiotic from S. violascens VS was extracted from the mass-cultured broth through organic solvents using chloroform: methanol by column and thin layer chromatography. Among the ten fractions, collected from elution by 9:3, 1:1, and 7:3 chloroform: methanol mixtures, the` 3rd fraction (after 3 minutes) of the 7:3 mixture showed maximum bactericidal activity against P. aeruginosa, E. coli, Bacillus sp., K. pneumoniae, and Proteus sp., with zones of inhibition of 18, 12, 19, 18, and 14 mm respectively. The equivalent fraction yielded 2.3 g/l of pure antibiotic. In the GC-MS spectrum the active compound identified as Pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazine-1,4-dione, hexahydro-3-(phenylmethyl), or Cyclo(phe-pro). The antibiotic’s fractional inhibitory concentration index (FICI) showed synergistic and partially synergistic activity with ten different commercial antibiotics such as ampicillin, sulfamethoxazole, erythromycin, amoxicillin, azithromycin, ofloxacin, levofloxacin, cefadroxil, cefixime, and ciprofloxacin against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially with cell wall synthesis inhibiting antibiotics. Thus, the synergistic usage of Cyclo(phe-pro) peptide antibiotic with commercial antibiotics recognized to have potential broad spectrum activity and possibility to control infections caused by MDR strains. Repeated chromatographic separations of ethyl acetate extract of Fusarium solani lead to the isolation of three naphthoquinone Anhydrofusarubin (1), Fusarubin (2), Javanicin (3) and one aza-anthraquinone 5-deoxybostrycoidin (4). The structures of isolated compounds were determined by analysis of NMR spectrum data and comparison of spectroscopic data with those of known compounds. The cytotoxic activity of isolated compounds was tested against the Human Lung cancer cell line and antimicrobial activity by disc diffusion method. Significant antibacterial activity and Cytotoxicity of the isolated secondary metabolites suggested that Azaanthraquinones and Napthaquinones are potential lead to develop antibacterial and anticancer drugs. Thus, there is a need to use raw materials from natural and easily accessible sources, which mitigates the consequences of the disease and provides beneficial adjuvant effects. Medicinal plants are part of this context, Annona muricata, better known as soursop, has a widespread use all around the world. In the present study, the carotenoid profile from leaves of the plant was assessed by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with a photodiode array and mass spectrometry detectors. In parallel the bioactivity of carotenoid extract was evaluated. The cytotoxicity of the aerial parts of the plant was evaluated through the MTT assay, as well as the IC50 of the treatments with copper in cell lines 293T, BV-2, and RAW 264.7. The anti-inflammatory activity and production of nitric oxide induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were also evaluated. A total of nine carotenoids were separated in Annona muricata, with lutein being the major one 72.87%. A. muricata showed important antioxidant, cytoprotective, and anti-inflammatory activity in in vitro model of Wilson’s disease. Finally, it can be concluded that A. muricata proves to be a potential candidate for future studies for therapeutic alternatives of chronic diseases.
