Moreover, professional social networks are becoming increasingly popular. Besides the well-known public professional social network site Linked In, enterprise social networks are also now being widely used inside corporations and companies. In this paper, we address the critical workforce analytics problem of automatically assessing employees' skills by mining multiple cues found in enterprise and social data. In particular, we treat the assessment of employees' expertise as a matrix completion problem, where the rows represent individual employees and the columns represent individual skills. The multiple cues about employee expertise come from data we integrate on the existing skill assessment process within the company, the social networking and social media activity of the employees, and the semantic similarity of skills. Assessment results are evaluated as a binary classification recommendation. Extensive empirical study using a real-world data set from a large multinational Fortune 500 corporation corroborates the effectiveness of multi-cue analytics to improve the coverage and accuracy of skill assessment.","PeriodicalId":147180,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126776876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A two-stage approach is proposed, where the attention duration is first calculated for each ticket based on a metadata model and some ticket handling priority rules; then the maximum likelihood method is used to estimate the mean effort for a ticket class using such attention information under some statistical assumptions. To validate the feasibility of the proposed approach, we have carried out a simulation study. It yields some promising results. It shows that our approach can produce a better estimation for the parameters of assumed statistical model than the naive estimates, which in turn will give us a better estimate of the mean ticket effort.","PeriodicalId":147180,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"2007 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127304045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Application Management Services (AMS) aim to maintain high levels of service quality and availability by restoring normal application service operations and minimizing negative business impact. In this paper, we present the AMS Analytics System for improving the productivity and quality of delivery for AMS practices. Issues regarding IT applications are formally referred as IT incidents or tickets, which are an important vehicle for measuring quality of AMS. IT incident ticket analytics, an important component of of the analytics system, measures workload variability, resource productivity and delivery performance using algorithms from statistics, queuing theory, data clustering and signal processing. The AMS Analytics System provides a standardized, integrated analytics platform supporting AMS delivery. It is built on a Web platform using a set of standard open stack software, enhanced with advanced analytics. Since its initial release, we have applied the AMS Analytics System to several dozens of real-world enterprise users, receiving very positive feedback.","PeriodicalId":147180,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"PP 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126443058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this report, we discuss the link between a nation's higher education system and its ability to bring about and foster innovativeness and economic growth. In particular, we will concentrate on the roles that universities play in the national innovation system. Some of the questions we address include: How strong a link is there between the education system and nation's innovativeness? How important is industry-academia collaboration? From the perspective of a knowledge-based economy, what would an ideal university be like? To answer these questions, we summarize key findings from the literature. The aim of this report is to present the key factors and decisions that should be considered in future higher education strategies.","PeriodicalId":147180,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"95 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129596009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Social networks play an important role in the research of social interaction among people, and are also key components of the artificial society. A good social network model should be both estimable and representable. Exponential random graph (p*) models (ERGMs) can satisfy the requirements. In this paper, ERGMs are applied to the generation of social networks in the artificial society, and a general process of generating social networks is proposed. As a case study, friendship networks in an artificial classroom are generated based on the statnet suite. The results indicate that ERGMs are efficient to generate social networks, and this method is practicable and worthy of application.","PeriodicalId":147180,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132275429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But ERP systems are comprehensive, huge and complex systems and warrant careful planning and execution not ensure the successful implementation. A business process is set of interrelated activities which have definable inputs result in output that adds value from a custom perspective. Business Process Management (BPM) is a structured approach to understand, analyze, support, and continuously improve fundamental process. In order to improve the success rate of ERP in project implementation, enterprises often implement BPM before or during the ERP implementation. In this paper, a framework for integration ERP system into BPM system is proposed. The framework closes the gap between ERP system and BPM system, enables full life-cycle of process centric enterprise system implementation.","PeriodicalId":147180,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128595332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper uses projection pursuit model to nonlinearly transform multiple evaluation indicators into a single indicator of credit risk, establishes measure model of credit risk for farmer loans. Moreover, the greater squared value of projection weights, the greater impact on credit risk for farmer loans. So this paper makes use of squared value of projection weights to obtain effect sizes of risk factors. The results show that the skills of lenders and their families have the largest effect on credit risk for farmer loans.","PeriodicalId":147180,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133846610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we implement an electronic police system based on multiple salient vehicle parts for traffic surveillance. Vehicle is represented by its salient parts and its trajectory is obtained by tracking based on Kalman filter. First of all, multiple salient vehicle parts including the license plate and rear-lamps are localized using their distinctive features. Then vehicle tracking is performed using these parts with a Kalman filter to get vehicle motion trajectories. At last, traffic violations are detected by analyzing the vehicle trajectories and configuring various detection regions. Experiments show that our system is effective and it can achieve real-time performance for real traffic applications.","PeriodicalId":147180,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2013 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127613792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
