This type of literature presents the characteristic picture of a man which the author defines as homo victus. The pessimism and the vanity of existence are typical elements of weird fiction poetics. The authors often structure their writing in such a way so that the characters, when confronted with the uncanny nature of the world, can understand their insignificance and fragility. These merits can also be alternatively viewed as narrative functions, precisely defined presuppositions, agreements between the implied reader and writer as to what literary gratifications are to be expected by the reader from the reading experience. They constitute structural dominants which are well manifested in the texts themselves. Video and Walkman have changed the way we listen to music and watch films. It is worth mentioning that contemporary Polish writers often come back to their childhood and describe objects that were important in their existence, such cassettes of their favorites artists and actors. Nostalgia is a crucial feeling in their writings and a result of the digital age we are living in. Literary explanations of posthumanism have entered the conventional canon not only in terms of the science-fiction classics. However, a different line follows the tradition of presenting posthumanist existence in the comic book medium. Scott Jeffrey accurately notes that most comic superheroes are post- or trans-human. Therefore, the transgression of human existence into a posthumanoid being is presented. However, in the case of the less culturally recognizable character of Vision, a synthezoid from the Marvel’s Avengers team, combining the body of the android and human consciousness, the vector of transgression is reversed. This article is an attempt to analyze the way the humanization process of this hero is narrative in the Vision series of screenwriter Tom King and cartoonist Gabriel Hernandez Walta. On the one hand, King mimetic reproduces the sociological panorama of American suburbs, showing the process of adaptation of the synthesoid family to the realities of full-time work and neighborly intercourse, on the other, he emphasizes the robotic limits of Vision humanization. Most of the movies mentioned in the article are found on a similar pattern: not wealthy family is buying or renting a big house; they believe that this is their future dream place, so they spend their last money on house repairs. Though they are broke, they continue to live on their „American dream”. \u0000Neoliberal myths instruct them that in American or British society there’s no place for economic losers. By this time house is reviling the symptoms of being haunted by the demons and along with the paranormal phenomena wife, husband and their children are starting to show their demons (they are extremely violent and stressed). Economic problems are linked with interpersonal family drama and the decay of social relations. Haunted house horrors are showing that the only remedy for their problems they can find in the past. Film characters from movies such as Burnt Offerings and The Amityville Horror believe that conservatism and old values are going to help their situation. The paper presents statistics on the number of books published in Warsaw suburban microregion, their types and genres, as well as on institutions, publishers and sponsors involved in their production. First, preliminary observations show that the number of locally published books increases yearly — this tendency is visible particularly in the last six years. The most popular genres are memoirs and history books, but the scope of local literature is much wider and encompasses such genres as novels, essays, guide books, poetry and many other. Mentioned many times in articles about music videos, its dependence on other art fields, such as film, musical, theater arts, plastic arts etc., only strengthens us in belief that music video is an enormous hybrid form, being heir to aforementioned forms. At this intertextual base, music video has developed its own language. Cognizance and description of its components, understanding of connection rules and the essence of its individual elements is the main aim of this article. Scientists are still not sure what happened to the 129 sailors. The events have become a basis for a horror story Terror written by Dan Simmons and adapted as a TV series by Ridley Scott. Both of them are interesting cases of genre mixtures. But the clue of the article is to analyze the tools both the book and the TV series use to induce fear among the audience. Firstly, the author focused on historical background which allows introducing a storytelling strategy known as faction.
