Important aspects for installing the public lighting on the road include traffic safety and correct illumination of the road according to the legislation in effect. Within new researches, requirements for suitable temperature set-up, chromaticity, dazzling prevention, reduced light pollution and other parameters having impact not only on the quality of lighting but also on the ambient life are specified more precisely. Dynamic regulation modifying the lighting intensity depending on the amount of vehicles and their presence is to help not only meet the requirements of the standard, but also include other parameters of the illumination system, and last but not least to increase power savings and reduce CO2. This text also mentions a suitable method of output regulation using DALI and the use of wireless communication through the MESH network using the non-licence band.","PeriodicalId":135085,"journal":{"name":"2019 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123861060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The SUMP concept brings a different approach to transport planning in cities – from formulation of visions to goals and measures supporting the sustainable urban mobility vision. In contrast to “traditional” transport planning, more attention is paid to demand management rather than only the transport supply side. At the same time, cities have been developing their Smart City strategies. Logically, they both need to be coordinated and in compliance with each other.Further development of smart measures can significantly influence not only the way to reach the preferred sustainable mobility visions, but the future itself. In our research, we analysed approaches and attitudes of key stakeholders to further development of sustainable urban mobility and possible paths for achieving it.Our research is based on data collected using structured interviews with 45 key stakeholders in the field of urban mobility in Czech cities, which were further analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. The paper summarizes the methodology used and main results of this research with a special focus on the Smart City context.","PeriodicalId":135085,"journal":{"name":"2019 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129093203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, both cities rely on separate public transit bus networks that are not linked and the only cross-border connection is available through three major international bridges opened for cars and pedestrian traffic. In 2017, the City of El Paso adopted the Resilience Strategic Plan to make El Paso smarter. The plan proposes among others the development of Rapid Transit System Corridors in El Paso. This paper presents a high-level proposal how a passenger rail system could be used to complement the existing and future Bus Rapid Transit system as well as local circulator bus system. The proposed rail network is intended for passenger transportation in El Paso, but also beyond into the surrounding region including a cross-border link to Ciudad Juárez, without which the network cannot be considered complete.","PeriodicalId":135085,"journal":{"name":"2019 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128772535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are a lot of studies regarding the interaction of pedestrians with conventional vehicles, but the way a pedestrian interacts with Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) still needs to be explored. Therefore, this study addresses identification, prioritization, and management of conflict situation types between AVs and pedestrians. For this purpose, an analytical hierarchical process (AHP) method is applied to analyze qualitative data sets of a questionnaire survey. The factors (e.g. decision making by AVs according to varying pedestrian behavior, limitations of the road infrastructure in terms of conflict generation, etc.) that cause these conflict situations are ranked and compared. The input is taken from the key stakeholders (professionals), and the results are analyzed using multi-criteria analysis method (AHP). It has been found that the most important factor to be considered is the decision-making ability of the AVs, according to the varying pedestrian behavior. Based on the ranking of factors, mitigation measures are recommended to eradicate the effects of the factors.","PeriodicalId":135085,"journal":{"name":"2019 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115911937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this paper is to show how blockchain applied to smart cities can successfully promote the inclusion of persons with disability (PWD). By relying on prior literature, we noticed a gap in any approaches related to this topic. Through interviews with several area specialists, we proceeded to the construction of an integration model for PWD in smart cities. Along with research and the input of several key players from different industries, we were able to find specific applications of blockchain in smart cities for PWD. Therefore, the role of this paper is to demonstrate how we can integrate PWD through blockchains’ information, digital identification and verifications. This study has enabled us to identify that the Blockchain system can find answers to problems related to the inclusion of PWD by creating technological solutions for the issues addressed within the World Report in Disability (2011) in the areas of education, accessibility, employment, insurance and health.","PeriodicalId":135085,"journal":{"name":"2019 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114450749","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, energy saving solutions are becoming more and more relevant, since they are beneficial ecologically, financially, and personally. Therefore, there are more scientific research studies being conducted in increasing energy efficiency at a reduced rate in order to gain continuity of energy availability while lessening harmful negative environmental impacts (e.g., thermal pollution, glass house global warming effects). Working towards this crucial goal, this paper shares a new method of designing smart and efficient energy saving system using PDLC glass. It is capable of automatically turning into the user’s shades of choice gradually from a remote control. This capability is dependent on the building’s sun movement or sunlight exposure throughout the day from any angle of the building, which is detectable by a programmable Arduino light sensor. This is especially beneficial for areas with stable weather patterns and can also serve as a replacement for traditional curtains or blinds. When considering the initial cost of the product and the time spent installing and maintaining them, curtains or blinds cost more while only having similar results on decreasing or increasing the solar illumination, sunlight exposure, and temperature control according to the weather. An added benefit is that it can also turn the thermal pollution factor into a regenerative renewable storable solar energy by eliminating the sunlight reflection over the building when the glass absorbs it. Tests on the invented prototype validate its feasibility, offering an economical yet efficient option as a choice for smart energy saving systems.","PeriodicalId":135085,"journal":{"name":"2019 Smart City Symposium Prague (SCSP)","volume":"177 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122774264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
