Among the main infections that can cause complications in pregnancy are: toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, syphilis, zika virus, herpes, hepatitis, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and parvovirus B19. These infections can cause morphological changes in fetal tissues or organs, thus, early identification and treatment can reduce maternal-fetal transmission and / or decrease the impact on the fetus. Thus, the aim of this study was to conduct na updated review of congenital infections, highlighting epidemiological, diagnostic and treatment aspects. This is a literature review, and for the construction of the text, the following databases were used: SciELO, pubmed, BVS and Google academic. Therefore, prevention, early diagnosis of congenital infections and other actions aimed at the adequate treatment of women and their children, with the integration of health programs and local surveillance systems, are extremely important for public health.","PeriodicalId":125632,"journal":{"name":"RCMOS - Revista Científica Multidisciplinar O Saber","volume":"3 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141344696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection of significant global concern, disproportionately affects marginalized groups due to socioeconomic factors and barriers to accessing healthcare services. Studies indicate that implementing health education programs and promoting regular testing are crucial to reducing syphilis incidence in these populations (Smith, 2020). Additionally, community initiatives focused on increasing awareness and access to treatment have proven effective in addressing this public health issue (Johnson & Miller, 2019). Quantitative data reinforce the need for an integrated and inclusive approach involving healthcare professionals, community organizations, and public policies, as essential for syphilis control in vulnerable populations.","PeriodicalId":125632,"journal":{"name":"RCMOS - Revista Científica Multidisciplinar O Saber","volume":"21 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141273940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research focused on understanding how new technologies and public health strategies have contributed to the improvement of disease management, as well as identifying the existing barriers. A bibliographic review was conducted to compile and synthesize relevant data from previous studies, providing a comprehensive overview of the topic. The explanatory methodology used allowed for a theoretical deepening of the issues involved in the detection and treatment of syphilis. The technical procedures included the analysis of scientific articles, health organization reports, and systematic reviews that addressed both technological advances and the challenges faced by health professionals. Among the main advances discussed were rapid tests and nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs), which have significantly improved the ability to diagnose the infection early and accurately. Improvements in public awareness and prevention programs were also addressed. Despite the advances, the article also highlighted persistent challenges such as antibiotic resistance and difficulties in accessing effective treatments, especially in less developed regions. Benzathine penicillin G was reaffirmed as the treatment of choice, but distribution logistics and adherence to treatment remain important obstacles. The bibliographic review concluded that, for effective control of syphilis, integrated strategies that combine education, prevention, early diagnosis, and adequate treatment are necessary, as indicated in the reviewed literature.","PeriodicalId":125632,"journal":{"name":"RCMOS - Revista Científica Multidisciplinar O Saber","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141273178","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study is to analyze these results among fetal or neonatal complications in women with GDM, bringing in the outcomes of premature birth, birth weight, neonatal morbidity and mortality, and the synergistic effect of concomitant risk factors and poor obstetric outcomes. A literature review was carried out using the following databases: Online Medical Literature Search and Analysis System (MEDLINE/PUBMED), Nursing Database - Brazilian Bibliography (BDENF), Web of Science and Cochrane Library (SCOPUS), CAPES Journals and Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS). The search was carried out using descriptors combined with the Boolean operator “and”. From the searches, it was possible to see that the authors corroborate each other in relation to the main neonatal outcomes: Complications include fetal macrosomia, birth injuries, increased caesarean section rates, neonatal hospitalizations, neonatal hypoglycemia, neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), prematurity and fetal death. It can be concluded that for the mother the impacts, such as the risk of urinary system infections, are high, as well as bleeding in the postpartum period and tearing of the vaginal canal.
