Sharova","doi":"10.28925/2412-2475.2019.1416","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.28925/2412-2475.2019.1416","url":null,"abstract":"DOI: 10.28925/2412-2475.2019.1416 In the research, through the focus of ideological-thematic content and stylistic structures of short prose by Kostya Gordienko, we attempt to demonstrate the specifics of the artist’s creative pursuits. In particular, on the material of stories “Red Roses” and “Fedko” we determine the features of visual and expressive means and techniques found in the structure of the artistic text. In the article we emphasize that the writer is interested not so much in the social conditions of restless, full of complex contradictions of reality, but in their reflection in the lives of the characters. The author artificially comprehends the depth of a person’s fall “to the bottom”, determines the degree of moral and spiritual anger to which he is able to reach.We emphasize that the ideological-thematic paradigm of Kostya Gordienko’s early prose plays an important place in which the theme of children’s destinies is revealed in two polar social dimensions: in an unjust bourgeois society and in Soveit times. Writing about children in an objective-realistic tone, the writer is concerned with the situations that are most exceptional in the tragedy, which are most fully reflected in the crisis moments of social confrontation: war, revolution, famine. In conclusion, we emphasize that Kostya Gordienko’s early prose lacks a romantic idea of reality. In modern literary criticism, despite some achievements in the field of research of the fairy-tale heritage of the writer, there are still works that have never been subjected to critical analysis, an example of this − the collection «Fairy Tales and Tales of Marko Vovchko» (1874). Today, this publication, without receiving proper evaluation, is in the shadow of the author's work. The only exception is the folklore-historical story «Marusya», and the rest of the works: «Queen I», «Perfect Chicken», «Inventor» have not received their literary assessment. Therefore, the fairy-tale prose of Marko Vovchko is gradually returning from oblivion to the modern reader. Note that this process is accompanied by the need for detailed and in-depth rethinking. Thus, the proposed study is relevant because it aims to prove the originality of the unknown to critics of the fairy-tale work of the writer.\u0000\u0000In the given article with the help of biographical method, method of analysis and synthesis, text analysis the artistic originality of Marko Vovchko's fairy-tale prose is determined.\u0000\u0000The fairy-tale works of the author «Queen I», «Perfect Chicken», «Inventor» in their genre direction- social and domestic fairy tales are practically not studied. They reveal moral and ethical issues due to social and psychological factors. The most prominent in the above-mentioned works of the writer is the problem of selfishness and meanness of the human soul, which in turn is subject to the pressing social problem − the dominance of lordly arbitrariness, which leads to fatal consequences. The outlined problem acquires a corresponding gradation here: first it is revealed in the fairy tale «Queen I», later it is actualized in «Perfect Chicken», and acquires a special tragic sound in «Inventor».\u0000\u0000First of all, you should pay attention to the titles of the analyzed fairy tales. They have a kind of ironic connotation, which is revealed at the end. Tiutiunnyk, the connection between the motive and the plot in the novel “Zaviaz” is updated. The purpose of the article is an updated, methodologically pluralistic,\u0000multilevel analysis of the poetics of the prose of H. Tiutiunnyk in the organic interconnection and interaction with such macrostructures as the conceptual and dialogic nature of the conflict of the work, as a plot and «philosophy of composition»; an updated interpretation (on the phenomenological and hermeneutic\u0000levels) of the work of the writer’s prose “archetypal plot” and the role of large and small “associative fields”, their “binary pairs” in the process of implementation and self-deployment of the composition. It was in this context that the subject of the analysis was the novel “Zaviaz of H.Tiutiunnyk. Emphasis is placed\u0000on the existential perception of the author. It is characterized the binary pairs that grow rapidly, pulsating, generating all the other, new and unexpected dynamic bonds, images, symbols, associative crossings, dialogical positions and their circulation; in fact, it is this self-motion of all the structures in the work that\u0000is the essence of the internal self-deployment of the composition; they — in dynamics — are the key, supporting, semantically and figuratively charged nuclei, in the process of splitting distinguishing the conceptual and compositional energy of the work. Ontological approach to the text allowes to outline the world-wide changes\u0000of the writer in the conditions of war and dehumanization of society. With the help of the imagology\u0000method, the peculiarities of Ulas Samchuk’s attempt to understand the Other (German) who became\u0000a victim of Nazi ideology, tolerance of racial superiority, but ultimately defeated. The writer relies\u0000on Western European philosophy, in particular, the ideas of O. Spengler, K. Jaspers, J. Ortega y Gasset,\u0000which refers to the decline of western culture in connection with the development of civilization, which\u0000seeks for hegemony over mankind. Sverbilova","doi":"10.28925/2412-2475.2019.137","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.28925/2412-2475.2019.137","url":null,"abstract":"The article is devoted to the review of the prospects of multidisciplinary media-cultural studies in modern\u0000comparative literature studies towards comparative cultural studies and transmedial naratology.\u0000Comparative cultural studies syncretically combine the concepts of comparative literary criticism with\u0000the study of culture in the aspect of media-cultural studies, not limited to literature, but also various\u0000arts, mass media, computer games, etc. Literature is understood only as one of the media among other\u0000media. This is a transdisciplinary turn in comparative literature studies. Comparative naratology, and\u0000later transmedial naratology, in turn, is seen as a new discipline on the verge of literary comparativism,\u0000intermedialism, and naratology. The typology of intermedial forms of naratology in the classifications of Werner Wolf, Marie-Laure Ryan, and Jan-Noël Thon is discussed. Modern studies of various medial\u0000forms of narratives, which may also be presented in cinema, painting, graphic arts, ballet, comic books,\u0000and other mediums, and the discovery of the intermedial properties of narratives, lead to a rethinking\u0000of the fact that all narratives have a purely linguistic nature. Modern naratology as a separate\u0000discipline tends to go beyond purely literary narrative and transfer the concept of narration to other\u0000types of arts. Intermediate methodologies have already entered into comparative literature studies\u0000and have been successfully used in the analysis of literary works. It is about syncretic theoretical and\u0000methodological synthesis of three branches of art studies — naratology, intermedialism and literary\u0000comparativism, cross-disciplinary narrative studies. Early poems of the author contain a great number of authentic Ukrainian mythological images and plots. Almost every poem of cycles “The Steppe vision” and “Sonnets” has mythologemes in strong position, which refer to specific images of the collective unconscious. The mature lyrics of Andrii Harasevych, which includes the poems of the cycles “Old Prague”, “Loneliness” and “The Challenge”, contains less mythologemes, but they are more complicated, versatile and full of existential tension. The poet interprets the images of the Great Mother, the Tree of Life, complex of solar images and cosmogonic plots at conceptual, worldview and axiological levels. The author understands the nature of chaos and accepts it: chaotic process means life creation and continuing. Nature / world / nation / state / human experiences a constant, cyclic creation accompanied by choice, struggle, sacrifice and responsibility. All the books of Andrii Harasevych’s poems are analysed: “Sonnets” (1941) and “To the Peaks” (1959). These books contain all the author’s poetic cycles — “The Steppe Vision”, “Sonnets”, “Old Prague”, “Loneliness” and “The Challenge”. All the mythologemes were distinguished. Almost every mythologeme stands in strong position and is repeated in several texts of the author. Certain groups of mythologemes form complexes of plots and images of old Ukrainian mythology. They are illustrated by the most revealing fragments of the author’s texts and analyzed within the model of his artistic world. Gaidash, Andrii Mykhailiuk","doi":"10.28925/2412-2475.2022.19.4","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.28925/2412-2475.2022.19.4","url":null,"abstract":"The study's relevance is due to the development and dissemination of works on the culture of a drag queen, as it is understood not only in queer research and literary exploration but also in fiction. The article analyses the interaction of femininity and male ego in D. H. Hwang's play \"Madame Butterfly\" through the prism of elements of drag queen culture. The study results will also help to outline new interpretations of images in works of art. The cultural-historical method, feminist approach and aspect analysis were used to achieve the goal. The study clarified the meaning and origin of the term \"drag queen\"; the specifics of the elements of drag queen culture are singled out; the term \"femininity\" and the features inherent in the feminine model of behaviour are outlined; the artistic image and worldview of the protagonists (M. Butterfly and R. Gallimard) are characterised. During the research, it appeared that M. Butterfly represents drag queen culture because it has elements of \"transformation\", but not in its traditional sense. Most of the representatives of this culture use reincarnations for entertainment purposes, but in our case, the main character uses these techniques to manipulate and deceive. In addition, the peculiarities of Gallimard's worldview were outlined, which allowed us to understand the peculiarities of the interaction of femininity and the male ego between the protagonists. Analysis of communicative acts between the main characters of the work showed that they represent the confrontation of two cultures: Western and Eastern (Orientalism). It is worth noting that the stereotypical and superficial perceptions of both cultures played an essential role in shaping the protagonists of Madame Butterfly. Given the result, we see prospects in further study of drag queen culture, as it will not only improve the film adaptation of works and more thoroughly study the artistic images of the characters. The process of metaphorization is part of shaping a trauma narrative, in which metaphor works as a protective mechanism that allows one not to talk about the traumatic experience directly, but still talk about it. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate how, in fiction about traumatic experiences, metaphor can seem like a way to give meaning to events, but instead highlights the inability to express personal experience. The methodological basis of the research is trauma studies, in particular the works of K. Carut, M. Wilkinson, B. Van der Kolk, K. Brewin, V. Williams. Literary studies by J. Anker and T. Grebeniuk were also productive for the analysis of the problem. The relevance of the study is determinate by the need to study the peculiarities of the trauma narrative, in particular, based on the material of the literature about the Second World War. As a result of the analysis of H. Hordasevych’s story “Noah’s Ark”, it was concluded that metaphor in a traumatic text can be the category that determines narrative features and generates meaning even when the story itself has already ended. The metaphor of “Noah’s Ark” compares the life of Father Hilary’s family during the occupation to the Old Testament story. War is depicted as a natural disaster (flood) and punishment for sins. The priest’s house, where representatives of various national and social groups gather, is likened to an ark, and Ukraine’s independence should become a rainbow after the flood. At the same time, the metaphor of Noah’s ark reveals an incompleteness in the text — the narrator stops the story before the end of the flood, refusing to talk about the fact that salvation did not happen. This incompleteness of the metaphor marks the trauma — the inability to talk about the loss of family, social group, and national environment. That is, the story about the war and the occupation managed to be embodied in a coherent narrative, but the story about the arrival of Soviet power and its consequences was left out of the text. A frozen metaphor allows the narrative to begin, but the discrepancy between the known pretext and reality prevents it from continuing and verbalizing the trauma. At the same time, it is the metaphor that marks the existence of trauma, a silenced experience that the author is unable to translate into a story.
