We aimed to characterize this relationship considering chronic physical diseases’ type and number, and depression severity.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>We undertook a cross-sectional study, using data from a phone household panel, with “chronic physical disease” as the exposure and “depression” as the outcome. The sample is representative of the Portuguese population. Adjusted logistic and multinomial regression analyses were conducted between depression presence/severity and chronic physical disease presence/type/number. Odds ratio and 95% confidence intervals adjusted for possible confounders were calculated.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>1027 individuals were included. Of the population, 8.9% had depression and 72.1% had at least one chronic physical disease. There was no statistically significant relationship between depression and physical disease in general (OR=1.68 [CI95%:0.55, 5.15]), but there was with allergy (OR=2.08 [CI95%:1.02, 4.25]) and COPD (OR=3.04 [CI95%:1.21, 7.61]). The risk of depression was smaller with two physical diseases (vs. three or more, OR=0.32 [CI95%:0.15, 0.68]).</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>A relationship between COPD, allergy and a higher number of physical diseases and depression was observed. Clinicians should be aware of these relationships. While semi-structured interviews are the gold standard to establish a diagnosis, there are self-report instruments such as the Psychiatric Diagnostic Screening Questionnaire (PDSQ) that aids clinicians in improving the diagnostic process in a time-efficient manner.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>Network analysis of the 13 domains of the PDSQ was applied to a sample of 374 first-contact outpatients to identify domains of psychopathology acting as hubs and bridges of interconnections within the CMDs.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>A global network densely connected with positive connections among PDSQ domains was found. The global network has four main clusters: depression-anxiety, somatoform, psychosis and substance-related domains. This network allowed for the identification of main ‘nodes’ acting as hubs favoring interconnections between dimensions and main ‘bridges’ easing the connections between clusters.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>The network structure of the PDSQ domains might provide a complementary explanation to the high rates of comorbidity among CMDs. This study aims to identify the level of perceived stigma among COVID-19 survivors in Qatar and investigate its predictors.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>An analytical cross-sectional design was employed. Four hundred and four participants who had a positive COVID-19 PCR test were randomly selected from medical records. The selected participants were interviewed to collect sociodemographic and health-related information. Perceived stigma was assessed using the COVID-19 perceived stigma scale-22 (CPSS-22) that was developed by the researchers. A descriptive analysis followed by a bivariate analysis investigated possible associations between the perceived stigma levels and independent variables. A multivariable analysis was performed using logistic regression to identify any significant associations with perceived stigma. The validity and reliability of the developed tool were also tested.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The prevalence of COVID-19 perceived stigma was twenty-six percent (<em>n</em> = 107, 26.4%) at 95% CI [22.4–30.4]. Factors associated with higher COVID-19 perceived stigma were male gender, being a manual worker, non-Arabic ethnicity, low educational level, living alone, and being isolated outside the home. However, only occupation, ethnicity, and low educational level predicted COVID-19 perceived stigma in multivariable analysis. The CPSS-22 showed excellent reliability (Cronbach's alpha 0.92).</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>Perceived stigma was relatively common among participants. Dopamine receptors (DRD) act in neurological mechanisms like motivation, learning, memory, and, control of neuroendocrine signaling. DRD2 receptor has been reported to influence the stability of </span></span><em>DRD2</em><span> transcript. Catechol-O-Methyl transferase (COMT) inactivates catecholamines and Val158Met variation on </span><em>COMT</em> has effects on COMT activity. This study aims to explore <em>DRD2</em> and <em>COMT</em> variants in the clinical development of EOBD.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>In this case-control study, 102 EOBD patients and 168 healthy control subjects were used. <em>DRD2</em> rs6275 and <em>COMT</em><span> Val158Met variations were detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) was utilized to determine the EOBD severity.</span></p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>For <em>DRD2</em> rs6275 and <em>COMT</em> Val158Met polymorphisms, no significant relationship was observed in the genotype and allele frequencies between patient and control groups. Nevertheless, TT genotype carriers of <em>DRD2</em> rs6275 polymorphism demonstrated significantly increased YMRS scores when compared with CC and CT genotype carriers (<em>p</em> = 0.039). Nevertheless, no significant difference was observed between <em>COMT</em> Val158Met genotypes and YMRS scores.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>We suggest that the <em>DRD2</em><span> rs6275 TT variant can be associated with symptom severity in children with EOBD and can have a clinical significance in EOBD pathogenesis. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the expression level of miRNA-4485 and the severity of depressive symptoms in major depressive disorder (MDD) patients.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>Eighty MDD patients without antidepressants and 45 healthy controls were placed and tested for the expression level of miRNA-4485 using quantitative RT‒PCR. At the same time, the Hamilton Depression Scale<span> (HAMD) was used to assess depression symptoms for MDD patients. Twenty-nine out of 80 MDD patients were selected for miRNA expression level testing and symptomatology<span> assessments before and after three weeks of treatment.</span></span></p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The expression level of miRNA-4485 in the MDD group was significantly overexpressed compared to that in healthy controls (<em>P <</em> 0.05), and the expression level of miRNA-4485 in the higher HAMD group was also much higher than that in the lower HAMD group and healthy controls (<em>P <</em> 0.05). The expression level of miRNA-4485 in MDD patients was negatively correlated with HAMD total score, anxiety/somatization, and bodyweight factor score (<em>P <</em> 0.05), accounting for 9.4%, 12.4% and 5.7%, respectively. MiRNA-4485 significantly predicted MDD and the severity of depressive symptoms (<em>P <</em> 0.05). Compared with that before treatment, the expression level of miRNA-4485 was significantly downregulated after treatment, while the patient's depressive symptoms were improved (<em>p <</em> 0.05). The aim of this study was to assess the death risk associated with sequences of first-generation antipsychotic (FGA) and second-generation antipsychotic (SGA) prescriptions, including clozapine<span> and lithium, and drugs<span> for cardiometabolic diseases.</span></span></span></p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>We conducted a retrospective longitudinal analysis involving 84,881 patients who received antipsychotics between 2008 and 2012. Data on deaths were collected from the National Death Registry. The sequence creation was performed according to an algorithm that iterates prescriptions in chronological order and appends them to the end of the patient's prescription sequence. Fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (FsQCA) was also used to produce causal combinations of conditions that best lead to survival.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>There were 1,095,518 antipsychotic prescriptions and 16,010 deaths among antipsychotic users. Among the reimbursement data, 85,272 drug sequences were identified. The most prevalent sequence consisted of FGA (69.1%). Subsequent groups consisted of FGA, followed by SGA (13.1%) and SGA-only (12.3%) sequences. The highest occurrence of death and cardiometabolic drug use after introducing antipsychotic treatment was observed for clozapine. It was further required that the patients’ experiences of the telehealth solutions were reported. Between April 5, 2020, and June 29, 2020 (renewed November 10, 2021), the CINAHL electronic database was searched. Using the OVID search engine, Embase, MEDLINE, and PsycINFO were likewise searched; gray literature was retrieved from Scopus. The included studies were critically appraised using the CASP checklists.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Seventeen studies were included. Treatment provided via telehealth technology offered people with mental illness insights and skills that helped them cope better in everyday life. The patient—therapist relationship was improved where the parties collaborated. Furthermore, gaining control of one's mental health by using an app and following one's development empowered people with mental illness, leading to greater involvement in treatment.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>Engaging people with mental illness in decisions concerning the use of telehealth technology is essential.
